How do you paint really detailed camo onto figures?

It's not really hard. You find colors that will look right based on photos of real camo, then just paint them in semi-random blotches around the figure. It's better to see it visually:








It's good to find three colors that aren't too close to each other (so I would take a light grey then a slightly lighter grey) and paint them in semi-random yet conjoined blotches around the area you want. After that a wash usually works to tie the colors together a bit better and shade the cloth/armor you're painting on.

For jungle I paint the fatigues Snot Green, then do blotches of Camo Green, Chaos Black, and I think Snakebite Leather. After that I do a Badab Black wash.

There are also different patterns of camouflage. There's digital camouflage (which I imagine would be pretty tedious to pull off), the "standard" blotchy camo, chocolate-chip... all different kinds.
