thats a ratio of 5/1. I am not trying to whine, but (like anyone) i don't really care for losing, although i accept that it will happen.

I've adjusted my list composition and tactics, yet i still get roflstomped pwned.

I don't know, mabe i should just stick to painting?

I collect:

Grand alliance death (whole alliance)

Stormcast eternals

Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.

Pat that askala, O-H-I hate this stupid state

It might be depressing to look at it in a W/L/D, but if you had fun playing those games thats all that matters. When you stop having fun playing games is when you need to consider sticking to painting.

Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, its just a freight train coming your way!

Well, it seems like your sitting on quite a few painted armies, which is more than most of us can say.

i don't really get powergamers who make a fight out of every little rule interpretation and spend 800 bucks on each army. gak, if you need to 'win' that bad, apply that urge to real life. leave the gaming to people who like to have fun.

I expect to lose most of my first games with my witch hunters + GKs, but i'll be damned if a) most of it isn't due to me not having played a real game in 14 years, b) i don't have a better looking army than my opponent, and c) i don't have fun doing it.

I think I'm one of the few people here who keep track of W/L/D without really giving a damn if I win or lose. I keep it more for narrative purposes and just try to have a blast for as many games as I can. My last two games with my Guard were losses, but two of the most fun games I've played all year. Just roll with it dude.

It's all about putting my little guys on the table to me.

I couldn't possibly care any less if I lose the game. Sure, winning's nice, but my usual opponents will whine when they can't win (and even more so when they lose) so it sucks the joy out of it.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

You need to play more games. I remember playing 3 games a week for 6 months before I stopped losing. 24 games isnt a whole lot when you think about it. Thats only an average of 1 game a month.

Pick one army, and stick with it. Play more games. Thats what you need to do in order to win more.

This guy is spot on. Learn the rules inside and out. Practice against players who are willing to help you play better.

Youve payed 24 games in 2 years is your problem.

PLay more games, ask about your list and suggestions.

FIgure out why you lost the game you played.

Fix mistakes and learn.

Good advice here.

Play more = get better. Having fun > winning.

I have two friends who consistently stomp me; one I've only beaten a couple times in the 12 years we've been playing, and another who I've yet to beat in about 3 years. I still keep throwing myself at them though, and we always have a good time. Especially afterwards when we're laughing about how close I was to winning.

I'm probably going to sound like a jerk here, but if you just don't have the time to get good at the game, then you shouldn't be surprised when you don't turn out to be very good at the game.

I'd try Vassal, although it isn't really a "true" 40k experience it can still give you an idea of what units you're using work and which ones don't.

Recenty, I've played roughly comparable number of games, but am a lot closer to .500 - I play more 40k, which I've been playing much longer, so that helps a lot. I've also been working harder at calibrating the "hardness" of my lists to give an interesting game, rather than just bringing hard-as-nails lists.

You seem to play a lot of WFB, and WFB7 had some definite issues toward the end. Perhaps reset the stats with WFB8 and see how it goes? Also, consider more of a narrative game with your opponent?

I'm been in this hobby overall since I was 15 years old, i'm now 31. I've learned a few things about wins and losses.

40K: this was my first game system, in 3rd edition I played Eldar and was super excited that I won all the time, I was a young Beardling in the ways of gaming. I was good enough to win in local events, and good enough to game at GT's and win more then I lost. About 8 years ago, I discovered WFB, and then...

WFB: I think I lost my first 20 games.. at least. This humbled me greatly and I'm pretty darn happy it happened. I focused on other things, looking into other armies for 40k, learning more about gaming, tactics, hobbying. I dove head first into over the top converting and hobbying, I found my favorite game of all time by accident: Mordheim.

Warmachine: I discovered this 2 years ago. I may have won about 30 games, but i've lost at least 100. Its fast, aggressive, and fun! I do not care about win/loss because to me the models are so cool. Dreadnaught fighting! Does it get better than that?

This summer is probably 8 years to the dot. What i've learned is wins and losses to not really matter. Don't let it get you down, it comes full circle. I'm also looking at what you play. Tomb Kings are a really challenging army to play last edition and in 8th! Good for you pulling some of those draws. Its the oldest book, and needs help fast. You then changed to Skaven. Going from non-horde to horde is awesome. No one really does that. Its really challenging to get your head around skaven if your not playing a WAAC list. Skaven force you to learn tactics, bait and switch, flee and pursue, you become a complete gamer.

What I would suggest if you'd like to pull the win perchentage up a bit is think about what you can do. Join a gaming club, get some list guidance. The win's will come, it all comes full circle.

I haven't been traking my W/L ratio that closely, but I suspect that it is similarly abysmal. However, it doesn't worry me a bit. Like others here, I just have a good time heading to the local store and throwing down. I figure that the wins will come with time!

Hee hee, it has gotten so bad that when I get home after my game night, I cheerfuly tell my wife that I lost, but had fun. She usually remarks "You lost again?!?"

Probably work

W/L ratios are for people who feel the need to take internet IQ tests.

I don't track mine. I couldn't tell you what it is. I'd guess, excluding Daemonhunters, it's probably close to 50%, possibly a little higher. Including the DH, I'm guessing closer to about 33-40% range. I know I won 3/4 games at 'ard boyz. My team ended up in the upper 50% in the last Adepticon 40k team game, which was almost entirely based on game scores because our soft scores were a joke. To be honest, I like losing at this point, because I feel like I learn more from losing than I do winning. Gives me more to consider and plan for next time. My point is: Are you having fun?
