Please, please, please tell me this is wrong? If not then it scares me that with all the media available you still have people who think this.

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

Plenty of people believe all sorts of stupid things.

You also have to consider the sample the statistic is taken from and also what question(s?) were asked and how.

or care most probably.

I'm always a bit dubious about polls like this, not least as I think pollsters (sp ? is that even a word ?) significantly fail to account for people who deliberately lie or give out false answers.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all

I think the point is that he is clearly a Christian, yet a large number of people believe him to be a Muslim, rather than his actual religion being important for its own sake.

Of course it does. He's the American president, not the benevolent leader of some bizarre land that celebrates freedom and tolerance.

I've never understood why this is such a big deal anyhow. I'm no legal scholar, but I'm pretty sure there is no law in the U.S. constitution limiting what religious beliefs the president of the United States can hold.

I know plenty of people who are not big fans of the Obama administration, but none of the ones I take seriously believe that the president follows Islam. I am another person who always does a Roger Moore eyebrow lift whenever I hear things like this. Polls could be affected by the political affiliations of the pollsters, the sampling methodology of the pollsters, and any number of things.

Its anecdotal, but from my experience I would find it hard to believe 20%. I think the man is a Methodist, but I really don't know. Most U.S. presidents have been Episcopalian ( basically Anglican).

That may explain why 43% of the population don't know what his religion is. They maybe assume he is a Christian, but are unaware of his denomination?

And why would the media help. If that really is the case, then I imagine mass media is part of the problem.

I'm pretty sure they had to change the rules in order to let the Terminator rule California, so I would imagine a similar thing would need to occur in order for a "non-American" (ie someone who was not born in America) to run for President.

Ah but did he not take the citizenship test or something? You can become a citizen even if you were not born in the country if you have lived in the states a certain amount of time and can prove you know about american history and culture. Well thats what the Simpsons has taught me, so i could be way off the mark however.

I don't think they did, cf; John G. Downey.

Doesn't matter, the USA president has to be , so to speak, a "native son" ( or daughter), so Arnold could never be the President.

Unless they change the Constituition of course, but I don't think there's exactly a massive clamour for them to do so. I believe there have been bills related to such in the past but.. well... ain't broke don't fix it.

Because anyone who doesn't agree with you is stupid? Do you think that there are some people out there who want lower taxes but have no problem with abortions? Or perhaps, there are people who don't like the idea of abortion, but want more government services and are willing to be taxed for it?

Socialist is somewhat a matter of perspective and definition.

So we should kill people who aren't rational? I guess that is the logical end result of enlightenment thought. Just look at the French Revolution.

OT:

I'm not sure why it matters. The people who are so inclined to think whatever negative(in their mind, anyway) thing about B-Rock probably weren't going to vote for him anyway. They should have just said "Hardcore Conservative Base Doesn't Like Democrat President."

Anyone who thinks there is a conspiracy by the government to create a socialist America must be an idiot, but there definitely is a conspiracy by "mega corporations" to control politicians?

No, because they believe any old lie that anyone tells them, even though they don't bother to increase their understanding of important concepts beyond that.

Those were two different concepts, both of which are silly. We need taxes and people should be free to make their lives easier. I'm sure you could tell I wasn't talking about a group of people that exercise their opinion on both issues together.

Poor choice of words on my part. I'd never want people to die just because of their opinions.
