Subject: Flash as paint stripper? (uk cleaning product)

I have heard that Flash ( uk) works as paint stripper, has anyone used it... Before anyone says anything, I already know of simple green, but it is quite expensive.
I have these chaos terminators from ebay that need stripping, I bought them with it in mind as they are CLOGGED and were really cheap!
I wish to paint them and put them back on ebay
SO! Flash.... Can it strip my termies?
Tom.

Don't know about Flash but Fairy Power Spray, if you can get it over there, works absolute miracles.
I struggled with Dettol for a few weeks with an oily residue which takes toothpicks and many weeks to get rid of. Fairy works like a dream, spray brush a little to get into all the recesses, leave 10-15 minutes then brush and rinse.
Done

Hadn't heard about fairy doing the job before, was anything you stripped varnished as was considering stripping a marine army down in the future and changing chapters.

Hi there,
Alcohol works perfectly and has 0 impact on the plastic. You can leave it in there for a month and its all the better, since it helps breaking the glue bonds. However, plastic cement is very difficult/impossible to break.
If you only want to strip the paint, in say 6 hours its enough.
You can buy it cheap at any supermarket, say 1 litre 1.5 euros (1 pound?)
Important: when you take the mini out DO NOT RINSE before scrubbing. IF you do so, you wont be able to brush it off and will have to start over.

Hehe I am from England, just on holiday in Denmark atm so it's showing Danish flag
Yeah, I'll give power spray a go. Do you pour it into a jar and put in the minis, or spray on?
What alcohol do you use? Like white spirits/ turps?
Thanks,
Tom

Are they metal minis or plastic? If metal, then use nail varnish remover - dunk the mini in for ~30 secs and the paint comes clean off and the min is like new.

Wicked - I would not go mixing the mediums. Use one or the other. Alcohol has some major drawback with fumes, risk of Boom! etc the fact that you cannot rinse as you scrub is a major drawback too. The moment you rinse, realise that there is some paint left you have to start again.
With the fairy power spray it is a quick spray, small brush to get into the nooks and cranny's leave for 15 minutes then brush under running water. Easy peasy.

Plain and normal alcohol. I've got minis right now that will come out with "lavanda" flair
It is flammable, but again, not I get close to my minis with fire around Its easy to dispose (down the sink, since its intended to give that shinny finish when you mop the floor).
And when I say dont rise = dont put it under the tap water.
If I'm in a hurry (which I'm never, this is paint stripping and mini re-using so...), just have it for like 1 hour, take it out, and dip the brush in the alchol you used. Basically, 90% of the paint just flakes off.
If its been HEAViLY primed, maybe a second scrub might be needed.
I got this whirlwind with something like 14143 layers of blue, thick as hell. I'll try and get some picks after only 1 scrub. That was my test model.
I've tried quite a few products, including sodium hidroxide based products... which simply TEAR through the paint, model unscathed... but now I'm waiting for some hair in my arms to grow back again xDDD
Hope it helps

Tesco's or Sainsbury's own brand all purpose cleaner apparently does the job.
Was under 40p a bottle!
note:
Fairy Power Spray was on sale in Wilkos for £1.50 something. Sorry can't remember how much I paid but it about 1/3rd to 1/2 cheaper) Automatically Appended Next Post: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20159&hl=tesco's&st=20

If this works and I manage to post photo's this might make your choices easier.
Two Space Marines, with lots of coats of almost any colour that the previous owner had, I think. Hideous is the word for them.
Then using this:
Two squirts each and a very brief brush with toothbrush to get into the nooks I left them to eat my Tutti Fruiti Fruit Salad.
10 minutes later : A quick brush under running water and done. No messing around, it's quick and very, very easy.

Simple green for those who don't know is actually a concentrate. Therefore the price is good. I tried Stripping Plastic the other day with Ajax Spray and Wipe. You may or may not get it in your country. But it had Baking Soda in it. Don't know if that helped or not but it worked out ok, just be sure to rinse the model in question thoroughly so it doesn't leave a residue.

Been leaving the gobbos overnight and it is a pain to get out of the nooks and crannies!
good tip to scrub in first
Weird think is that the ones that have been overpainted that I thought would be tricky cleaned up like a dream.
It is the batch that have just skull white on that are annoying.
oh well nearly there now.
