Hey guys, was considering bidding on this;
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250681724494&ss
I was wondering what the difference is between the older models and the new ones, if anything, and whether there is a change in the codex rules for it.
Cheers.

The newer terminators have more dynamic poses, are easier to customize and are a bit taller. They also come on 40mm bases now.

Err the old shoulder pads look fine.
The best thing about the old Terminators in this case is that they're much much cheaper. So that's good.

Nothing wrong with those ones, but the new ones are roughly 1000x better. Still a bargain is a bargain.

This is very true!
IF you get them at a VERY good price, sure.
Otherwise, the newer ones are superior in every way, including in their impact on your bottom line, sadly...

The only thing bad about the old Termies are the bases. I own around 20 of the older ones and I've been told that they're illegal now because of the new ones with the 40mm bases but I really don't mind, I'm running Templar and use mine for assaulting so having the smaller base is somewhat a disadvantage, but all in all its how you look at it and if your opponent is a rules lawyer :p
good luck on the bidding!!!

actually you are required to use the base that was supplied with the model.
Small bases on old termies = 100% legal.

I wish the people who argue with me would believe that, but yea I'm not going to spend more money to upgrade it when it came in the box like that :p

Simply show them the line in the BRB that specifies this.
it's probably the same area they are drawing their arguments from.
Besides, it's actually a disadvantage to have a bigger base in most situations.
i wouldn't mix Old and New terminators though.

I like them both. I repainted my old ones recently and bought the AOBR box set because at the time I was being cheap and now that they stand side by side, the older ones do look a bit anorexic by comparison! Automatically Appended Next Post: Ooops! I forget to say, I'd buy them, and then just keep the squads separate, its not as noticeable then!

I really like the older terminators, but as a lot of people have pointed out they are quite small. I've started to use the suits to represent artisifer(?) armor on characters and foot sloggers. It doesn't cause too many problems because of the different base size.
edit: Ahhh, I am using older versions than those in the link

Outside of the basing issue, I love the older terminators! I even keep a squad of 1st edition Space Hulk terminators in reserve in case I need a quick 215 points added to my army.
