I'm currently working on a pair of land raiders, well one at the moment the other is in the box waiting for me to start on it, the plan is they will be the transport for my assault terminators and Lysander. Now the trouble I'm having is finding suitable storm shields to replace the ones in the close combat terminator box. There really isn't any thing wrong with the shields they come with I'm just looking to make these guys stand out from the normal SS/TH terminators they are after all Lysanders personal retinue. Currently Winging there way to me as of this morning one close combat terminator box and one set of forge world imperial/crimson fist terminator shoulder pads does any one out there have any ideas for suitably impressive shields for them ?

Thanks, Listrel

I am considering it however I'm just worried I wouldn't be able to do the models justice with my skills.

Tbh there aint no substitute for just getting stuck in, though you could always commission someone to make them for you if you GS-fu is weak.

PM me if you're interested mate. Other than a couple of review minis, there's not alot on my desk at the mo...

Maybe try the Warhammer fantasy line...there seems to be lots of shields to choose from there

4250 points of Blood Angels goodness, sweet and silky W12-L6-D4
1000 points of Teil-Shan (my own scheme) Eldar Craftworld in progress
800 points of unassembled Urban themed Imperial Guard
650 points of my do-it-yourself Tempest Guard
675 points of Commoraghs finest!

Lord Helmet - "I bet she gives great helmet."

Could allways go with a large riot shield type design.

Rectangular piece of plasticard, add in the small visor section at the top. (again, plasticard)
The make a small press mould of the chapter symbol.
That way you can make one for each shield and it requires no real work

Add the symbol to the shield, then just decorate it with bitz. (im sure you have a large enough bitz box to find a few things of use)

Or just add some detail to these:

I'm going to vote Chapterhouse, too.
Those guys are great.

They have some really good "eagle head" designed sheilds that would make excellent Storm Shields.

Maxmini has some storm shields that are nice.

I really like the Chapterhouse models also.

Making GS fist emblems is actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Roll the GS out after letting it sit for 15-20 minutes, then cut a square a little smaller than the shield and cut out the fist shape. Then use your hobby knife to slice/press in the details of the fist.

I just started doing these about a week or two ago for my Crimson Fists army and they turn out pretty nice. I have the SS arms, but no shields either, so I used some nicely shaped and sized buttons as replacements. Very cheap (about $1 for 4) and after priming, no one's going to know the difference.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Thanks for the ideas guys I'll check out maxmini and chapter house, the fantasy shield idea had crossed my mind several times but i just couldn't find any thing that fits what I want. I'll look into the press mould idea the thought had also crossed my mind to file down the shields they come with to make my own detail on them.

This is exactly what I did, I find the normal shield small and unimpressive.
