About two years ago, I made a half-hearted attempt at a Space Marine army that was designed for maximum shootiness (at least my version of maximum shootiness) with no emphasis on assault at all. Now, I am in the process of finishing an Eldar army designed with shootiness in mind, with no emphasis on assault at all. I have already started purchasing for my next army, Tau Empire, which by definition is designed for maximum shootiness with no emphasis on assault at all.

What's up with me and shooty armies? When I looked at getting into the new WFB 8th edition, the first army I looked at was Wood Elves.

So when I finish my Tau, I am doing Orks. It will be a nicely themed Feral Ork army, using plenty of fantasy Orc figures for conversions. And getting stuck in will be the oder of the day!

I've been playing Warhammer 40,000 since 1988, and am just coming back from a bit of a 10-year hiatus. And please excuse any wild accusations, hallucinations, or outright factual errors, as I am recovering from a serious head injury. And Warhammer 40,000 is part of my therapy. OH YEAH!

I seem to have the same issue..... i have 1k sons which are shooty to an extent not nearly as much as your armies. Pure GKs which should be played moreso shooty than assaulty due to low numbers. Last are SoB which can pump out a ton of bolter rounds. Funny thing is i got rid of my Orks for Sisters... whats wrong with us..... we pick armies that are the complete opposite of what 5th ed. is about.

You'll get bored of it eventually and want to switch to something different. I went from very shooty Marine armies to an assault-heavy Marine army (Space Wolves) then to Orks. Now I play Guard more than any other army, so it's come full circle I guess. However, my Fantasy army is pure melee - Khornate Warriors of Chaos.

I'm EXTREMELY surprised you haven't tried an IG army yet... I play Black Templar and they're all about CC but I'm def thinking about starting an IG for the shooty

Sisters are all about what fifth edition is about.

Mechanized melta/flamer spam. Isn't taht what 5th edition is?

Sisters are reserved for my daughters, should they enjoy the game once we play it a few times

ALL shooting in fantasy is boring though. at least you can sort of get by with gunline in 40k

but I like a good mix of close range fire/support,with long range attacks and blasts

I dunno, I think a blackpowder empire or dwarf gunline could be cool in fantasy.

Heh, when you finish your Tau list(s), you could run a squad of Suicide XV8s (Melta-Flamer combo) and just for kicks, throw in a fail-safe detonator too.

Guaranteed you'll get some CC and a Power-weapon or two swinging for them, especially if you DS them in.
