With new plastic Horrors coming out I decided to start up a Tzneetch army. I started out buying 25 metal horrors off Dakka and 10 from a local shop and got to work. I started out modeling some two per base for some blue horrors. I figured this would add some variety to my squads and look cool. I was able to model 6 blue horrors before the plastics came out, so I took a break from metal models and bought a box of GW's plastic horrors and... I was less than happy. Compared to the metal models they looked cartoonish and crude.
So I did what needed to be done, I sucked it up and began scouring the internet for metal horrors. Lucky for me, Dakka is awesome and i was able to find several members who gave me some great deals on models. At the time of posting I currently have 40 horrors and 6 flamers and a Lord of Change en route.
This is my army so far with the Daemon Prince I bought today:
6 Blue Horrors
21 Pink Horrors
1 Daemon Prince

(The models to the right need to be stripped and repainted)

YES! Metal Horrors. I hate the new plastic ones. Look forward to seeing this army come together!

I've done some more work on my horrors I've got five fully assembled Blue Horrors, modeled two to a base I'm really happy how they came out.

I also worked on some Pink Horrors got four ready to go.

Giving me a pretty solid looking squad of nine.

(I don't actually plan on running them with this ratio of Pink to Blue)

My next step wast to prime. I wanted to be able to experiment with paint schemes so I decided to start out with a few test models. I primed one set of Horrors black and one white. I'm going to play with paints today and post my results tomorrow. Do you guys have any advice for painting Horrors?

I've never painted horrors myself, but horrors that blend into different colours usually look good.

I agree, the metal ones are so much better. By the time I'm done I should have a solid 65 metal horrors, which should hopefully be more than I need.

Hey John.

I personally love Horrors painted in bright semi clashing colours.

The few I have done have had the internal horrors painted a different colour to the external one, Eg: Pink external with blue bursting out, Orange external with green tearing out.

I painted these up from black prime but white might be easier, and I just made sure to highlight the musclesup using stripey horizontal strokes of lighter colour, then gave them a very thick full gloss.

They looked gloopy and bright and very Tzeentch, I will try to get some pics soon, but they are rather old

I think you have the right idea by playing around with colours and different primes, and I cant wait to see how these turn out.

Edit: Found them

I saw someone on here who'd gotten a really good result just priming them white and then using washes. Normally I'm averse to using shortcuts like that but these guys ended up looking great.

I've been playing around with colors and I think I've settled on a classic scheme that I can play with and give enough variation to keep interesting. I've got 20 Horrors, 6 Flamers and a Lord of Change that should be here tomorrow. Needless to say I'm incredibly excited. Once they get here I'll be stripping everything. Once everything is stripped I want to get everything fully assembled, based and primed quickly. Then I get to take my sweet time painting. Wish me luck.
