I'm a new ork player, ok I'm a new to the 40k world, I have played 5 games now. 1 win 2 loss 2 draw, I am having a lot of fun, but I would like to become a little more competitive. I know I''m playing guys with on avg. 7years of play time on me I have been looking on these and other forums trying to help with the learning curve.
1. Last match I played, seemed the guy was geared for me. He ran 2 land raiders AV 14, filled with Assault style Terminators with Lightning Claws and Thunder Hammers, along with some special rules that allowed for reroll to hit and wound and, then he had a land speeder, and a couple of drop pods with scouts. How do I open up Land Raiders? Rokkits, Deffguns, and a Boomgun will not do it, and my 30 boyz squads with Nobz with PK would just get chewed up by the Terminators before they could get up on to one.
2.Is a foot slogging army just not good against these high AV Mek armys I have been seeing? I'm Starting to Think that Boyz in Trukks and Battle Waggons might be the way to go, but I don't know how to fill out those army list, like with Kommandos? Burnas? Lootas? Are Tank Bustas even worth it? Would Adding Killa Kans with Grotzookas be a waste b/c. they will be left behind?
3. I have not used a Unit of Nobz yet, How much is too much, what size squads should I be running, and with what wargear, I don't want to spend too much on wargear just to have them perform poorly and waste points, and I don't want to spend too little so they have no choise but to perform poorly
4. What IC are good to use and which should I stay away from?
My Main thing is I want to get the most out of my units and have them be dependable, well as dependable as orks can be. Like I said I'm very new to the game and I'm having a tough time bringing my army list togther which in turn makes my matches very tough. I really like the orks, I'm having a lot of fun either way but if I could get a few more "W's" that would be nice too. I'm all ears to any advice. Thank you.

For your army list first I think you need to decide what type of army you like to play. I personally run a horde type army with some Deff Kopptas, Killer Kans, and a Deff Dread.
There are a lot of options in the Ork list that compliment each other well.

I really want to be flexable with what style of play I can do, so i can change my build depending on my opponent. I have come into possetion of a lot of orks already
I have:
120 boys
6 trukks
20 lootas
20 burnas
15 kommandos
20 storm boys
20 grots
6 deffkoptas
2 battlewagons
3 killa kans
1 big mek with KFF
1 Big mek with SAG
2 war bosses
10 nobs
24 biker boys
1 weird boy
2 warbuggies
1 looted wagon
I feel I have a lot of stuff, but nothing that really works for one style of play. I'm kinda wondering what I need to bring something together to make it work, like what IC would help bring it together, or do I need like another battle wagon to make a good trukk/battle wagon list?

Bottom line is you are playing guys with a lot more experiance than you, your going to have a steep learning curve to deal with. The plus side is I'm sure it will only make you a better player faster.
If you want to find some really good starting info for orks, look up Dashofpepper's posts, I believe he has writin a good article which may be able to be found in the article section or by pming him.
As for directly answering your questions, a green horde army can work but it will usually be an uphill battle against tank heavy armies. (but hey I like uphill battles). With what you have here (which is quite a bit!) I can see a nice kult of speed list. fill up your troops with trukks, throw some nobs in a wagon or put them on bikes. put lootas in the backfeild or get boss snikrot and have him come on the backside of the table with kommandos, get another buggie and field a unit of 3 to create cover for your trukks. And throw in some deffkoptas for first turn assaults and tank hunting. And of course put you kff mek right in the middle of it.

With stuff you have, i'd go this way:
HQ: 205
warboss (PK, eavy armour, cyber body, bosspole, attack squig): 120
Big mek with KFF: 85
ELITES: 300
10xBurna boyz: 150
5x Loota: 75
5xLoota: 75
Troops: 709
12 boyz (nob, PK, bosspole): 112
+ trukk : 35
12 boyz (nob, PK, bosspole): 112
+ trukk : 35
6x Noobz (PK, PK+bosspole, Big Choppa, big choppa + combi-rokkit, big-choppa + waagh banner, painboy + grot, 6x cybork body): 275
+ battlewagon (deff rolla, big shoota, grot oiler, boarding plak, grabbin klaw, extra armour): 140
Fast attack: 140
Deffkopta (TL rokkit, buzzsaw): 70
Deffkopta (TL rolkkit, buzzsaw): 70
Heavy support: 140
Battlewagon (deff rolla, big shoota, grot oiler, boarding plak, grabbin klaw, extra armour): 140
TOTAL: 1495pts
If you want to play for more pts you can add more trukk boyz and a squad of warrbuggies... And so on... Automatically Appended Next Post: And as for IC, Thrakka is great in this list... I'd play im at 1750 pts (with rest of pts going for buggies and perhaps boarding plak and reinforced ram for trukks)...

Cool I have to try that build, I have a match tommarow. If you (or anyone) was going to add anything (stuff I would need to get to add what I already have) to make the KOS list work any better Still @ 1500pts. Thanks again for everyone's advice!

Post some feedback when you get back
Curious about how this list will serve you Automatically Appended Next Post: P.S. It's not easy to play this list, especially if it's your first time with it... Couple of tips:
Keep the lootas back in cover and target opponent transporters... You have to get transported units out for your boyz to slaughter...
You can use battlewagons to ram opponent vehicles... That is d6 str10 hits (brutal ) and boarding plak will allow you to attack with one model even if you don't disembarak(and it counts as charging)... And if opponent stays alive, it is 50% chance that he'll stay stuck because of the grabbin klaw... I'd keep the warboss with burna boyz, So that you have PK in that wagon too...
It could be good idea to drop grot in noobz (on second thought) and add with 10pts left reinforced ram on trukz... That way you can ram 18'' into opponent vehicle (that is str 8) with big chance of destroying your trukk (and thus you have your mob out so they can assault)...
Koptas, well, if you go first deploy them in front and then as your opponent deploys use scout move to turboboost towards his vehicles (such as vindicator or similar) and then hope that he doesn't seize the initiative
Then you can move 12'' towards your opponent's vehicle, fire TL rokkit and then assault (as your opponent didn't have chance to move yet, it's 3 automatic s7 hits in rear armor ).. If you go second then it depends... Some people still put it in front and turboboost into cover near opponent (you still have 3+ cover save) and some play them in reserves so that when they come, they can outflank your opponent...
As for rest, don't think there'll be a problem... Boyz are boyz and burna are burnas

I know I''m playing guys with on avg. 7years of play time on me I have been looking on these and other forums trying to help with the learning curve.
Welcome aboard the green horde!
Sounds like LC termies with a chaplain leader, combined with the 'raider is easily 600-700 points, an extremily powerful "deathstar" unit. Unfortunately, Orks have very little serious anti-tank firepower. What you can do, is charge his tank with multiple PK's, that kills any tank out there with regularity (unless needing 6's to hit). If theres anything Orks have taught me, is that 20-40 Orks can wear even the most deadly CC unit into the dust, simply from attrition. The way to beat teminators is to throw massive amounts of cheap boyz at them and tarpit them to death.
Not my specialty, as I roll with the green tide. I do:
warboss w/ PK/attack squid with 10x Nobz (4x 'Uge Choppa, 5x PK, Painboy) in a trukk with xtra armor
3x Sluggas (20-man/ea) w/ nob w/ PK
looted wagon w/ xtra armor (burnas ride)
12x Burnas
2x Lootas (15/ea)
2x Deffcoptas (1/ea) with rokkit
3. I have not used a Unit of Nobz yet, How much is too much, what size squads should I be running, and with what wargear, I don't want to spend too much on wargear just to have them perform poorly and waste points, and I don't want to spend too little so they have no choise but to perform poorly
Scale squad size to game size, personally I use 10x Nobz in 1500 pts or more. 1/2 PK and 'uge coppa is a good mix, so the choppas get some wounds down and are less expensive meat sheilds for the more expensive and slower PK nobz. Also, DONT TAKE NOBZ W/O A PAINBOY!
4. What IC are good to use and which should I stay away from?
As far as Codex goes, Warbosses are diesel if kitted out properly, and Big meks are only good for KFF. The only special character worth it is Ghazgull.
Thank you.
More practice is needed with your army to develop a style you like, I recommend reading your opponent's Codexes to expand your knowledge on their special rules. Knowledge is power.
Best of luck!

Thanks for all the advice every one!
I played the list that Chinchilla gave me with mixed results
It was Spearhead with Seize Ground and 5 objectives placed in way like you would see a 5 sided dice across the feild
I was playing Gaurd. This Gaurd Player has been very helpfull for me, and I told him not to take it easy on me, I don't want to learn how to beat people who arn't playing like they normaly would. He is probably one of the most feared guys at the store I have been playing. He knows his stuff
Basicly To make this a short story instead of a battle report. I got to go first and he kept everything in reserve. For 2 turns I positioned my guys as best I could. With 5 objectives and 3 troop units things were already kinda iffy. when he got on to the table he had crapy rolls, so I was in luck, he did enough to my trukks and Battlewagons to make things hard. I was able to use my Nobs with the Warboss (the fist time I have ever feilded Nobs) They made light work of a couple of tanks and another unit of boys was able to clear out a squad of guys dropped into battle by a large flying transport, trying to contest an objective. We got cut short b/c of time, he was able to get more objectives with his troops. I will be honest I think it was heading towards a loss on my side anyways, mainly because the tactics were better on his side. But I think the build I was using was pretty stout, maybe just not good for the amount of objectives I was having to deal with. I had fun seeing those nobs make short work of those tanks
My question now would be, If I were to play a 1000pt game would those nobs still be viable, or would I be tieing uo too many points into one unit?
Thanks again everyone for your help! Like I said I'm still having tons of fun, I just need to figure out how to get more "W's"

If you find in future that you have problem with objectives, it is good idea to field one squad of 10 gretchin... You should use them to sit on home objective... As for your game experience, 5 objectives in 1500 pts is just not balanced... Probably every army will have problem with securing 5 objective... So this wasn't really a Good match to check objective grabbin potential of your army... As for tactics, i wonder what have you done in those 2 rounds... Did you spread out to control objectives? Because if you did (it sounded to me that you did) it was a bad idea... You should never spread your forces against all reserved opponent because you're doing exactly what he wants... He can now deal with part of the army he chooses with units that he chooses... Instead you should keep forces together and position yourself in such manner in the center that you don't allow shooting in side armour and you can then deal retaliate... The most important thing with speed freaks is to learn to block los and limit your opponent in shooting... And how to use trukk to block los from other squads once you disembark to assault.... I wonder what IG list he played? Anyways, posting battle report is not so bad idea, because you can get advice on tactics... Automatically Appended Next Post: As for 1000pts it gets tricky... Personally I don't like 1000 pts (mostly cuz I play marines and necrons all the time and they're damn expensive)... And it is a problem for speed freaks... I'd drop nobz probably because that is so much pts in one unit (33% your total pts, if you add BW, 42%) As for rest, i'd probably play 2x 20 boyz in BW and get rid of burnas (they're great but you need troops)... But don't know... You still need lootas, and anti-tanking so... Don't know what else to change... And if you have extra 40pts after this, you can add gretchins for home-objective sitting...

Terminator charges are downright nasty, especially out of land raiders. The only reliable way Orks have to deal with assault terminators in land raiders is to use killa kans spread out in front of your boyz. This way you can reliably assault and kill land raiders with your kans, deter lightning claw terminators from even assaulting your line, and have a chance to kill thunder hammer terminators before they get to strike even when they charge you. The best part is that they need to assault through your kans so even if the kans are wiped out, you've got an entire boyz mob ready to charge them and boyz are highly effective against terminators for their points.
