Lost somewhere in the Face of Terror.

was on FW and I noticed that the FW tanks are cheaper than the ones on GW. Why? are they only part kits for the other modifications? or do you get the full kit? Or are they somehow sub-GW standard? Has anyone bought both GW and FW vehicles (in particular, chaos LR, but any otherones will do) and noticed a difference in the Bitz you get?

FW doesn't sell a chaos land raider...

Try reading the tittles of the product, they'll say whether they are a full kit or a conversion kit. And even then, factor in P&P.

Conversion Kits are cheaper as you need to buy the tank too.
Don't forget that prices on FW site are in british pounds.
For instance an Imperial Guard Hellhound costs 59.50CAD http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod60013a&rootCatGameStyle=
and a FW Graia Pattern Hellhound costs 68.6380 CAD http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Imperial_Guard/Imperial_Guard_Tanks/GRAIA-PATTERN-HELLHOUND.html

You guys are missing his point

Go onto FW's site.
Go to the 40k section in the top bar, at the bottom is GW plastic kits.
Go to these and a few are actually cheaper.

Edit:

Wizard: Maybe its you who needs to read mate, they do indeed sell a chaos land raider, and cheaper

chaos LR is cheaper, but you you have to pay 12% shipping inside the uk and 15% for everywhere else.

chaos LR: 35 pounds + 4,2 = 39,2 pounds.

so its not cheaper(well, shipping is for free if you order products worth 250 pounds or more)

Uhh, any one wanna tell me the exchange rate between pounds and dollars?

Until I know the rate, all I see on the FW site is a bunch of numbers.

What I get for being an ignorant American.

It's better for us now than when I was there 3 years ago. Nearly 2 to 1 conversion rate at that time. Suck.

BlazinGhost, anytime you want the conversion rates, just go to google. It's not 100% accurate, but pretty darn close.

Right now, 1 pound = $1.53

Ah, thank you, and somehow google didn't come to my mind...

This might be a bit off topic, but since we're talking about FW here, how long does it usually take for an order to get processed and shipped, to, oh, lets say the Americas?

About 2 weeks, which considering the distance traveled and how long it takes GW to ship something, they are pretty quick.

Much appreciated. I mainly ask b/c I just ordered something about a week ago, and w/e I check its status it still remains "not allocated". I'm not sure if that's just them not updating my account or what.

It depends on what it is, and whether they have any in stock. If they have them on hand, it's usually fairly quick, unless they have a glut of orders.

If it's something that is cast on demand, or is out of stock, you'll have to wait until they cast one for you (if it's something they still do in house... no idea how much, if any, that still includes) or get one cast and shipped to them from China.

Since you want to compare prices:

chaos LR: 35 pounds + 4,2 = 39,2 pounds.

True, shipping does add to that, if thats the only thing you buy.
something tells me people wont go to FW for a single kit though.

Not only that, but GW's free shipping wont last much longer, so thier raider will then be £37.50 + £7.
So your looking at £44.50 on its own.

Again though, multiple items help to save that cost somewhat, but item for item, FW are cheaper, even item for item + shipping FW are cheaper.

Saying this, i think its just FW being slow again.
these were the prices of the items before the previous price hike, so they may change soon.

Pat that askala, O-H-I hate this stupid state

If i remember correctly the FW Exorcist is cheaper than the GW one. Thats mainly due to the crap ton of metal that goes into the GW one.

You're better off comparing the FW Exorcist to the GW Whirlwind. That's the one that more closely resembles the FW kit.

Just a thought but GW just put their prices up this month (or was it last month ?) maybe FW are just a little behind on the price updates. The thought occurs as the FW land raider at £35 is the same price of the GW one before the price increase .
