Well, after lurking around in the shadowy areas of hobby paradise known as dakka, I have decided to make my own project log. I have just finished some new terrain that I will post pics of after I can figure out how too!

Shadowy? Why Shadowy? Why not fluff it up, like "Dark deceptive crevasses" ?

I have yet to decide, what I do know is that he can no longer use it in a game of space hulk, the damn thing would get stuck in everything but a tyranid!

Now that I have uploaded a few more images, I thought I would show you my newest piece of terrain... A downed valkyrie x2! seeing as the thing kept falling apart due to cheap plastic glue, I put my thinking cap on and got to work!


Out comes the felt tip for where the dissection is going to take place!

Thanks! I really did not like the pose on the space hulk mini and after rummaging around in my bitz box found a few nice add-ons, namely a brettonian spear and new head. I am quite pleased with how he turned out ( the base has not been finished yet)

What kind of tool are you going to use to chop the Valk in half? Or, just a thought, what kind of Explosives are you going to use?

Hmm explosives would have been a good idea... I have just used a razor saw ( similar to the one you can buy from GW)

My thoughts exactly! I plan on making an army of orks that has been cast out from regular ork society because they were 'too annoying and for having the worst ork creations' (quite an achievement for an Ork!)

First half all assembled



Started to paint it.

I am unsure as to what I should do to the other half, I was thinking of having some pilots camped outside the wreck as if they had survived but had nowhere to go, any other ideas?

How about using the normal crew but swapping the heads for some skeleton ones. Or only one dead pilot and add some tracks away from the wreck, this way you could also make an objective marker to go with it. The other pilot has managed to get away and needs to be found before the intel he carries falls into enemy hands, yadda yadda yadda, I'm sure you get the point....

Hmm, I think that sounds like a cool idea, I had not thought of doing some dead pilots, I shall see what I can rummage up as I have just used all of my guardsmen in another project (codenamed 'I dont care if I cant have all of those fancy weapons in that squad! I am still going to do it) Pics are coming very soon.

Perhaps have a crew member hanging out the broken window, with wee bits of blood drenching the side. And have another crew member, like Lennysmash said, with a skeleton head. That would be awesome.

Here are some of the guardsmen I am working on at the moment, now called Squad MSMR (thanks Lennysmash!)







Yes I know that is only 9 people, but I have another guy to go along with the missile launcher.

I am also doing a sniper squad but the pictures of them seem to have vanished!

Only nine guys? It doesn't matter its Squad MSMR after all

Had another idea btw, you could make some removable guardsmen for the piece in the style of Black Hawk Down (the part where the two special force snipers are trying to defend themselves from the crowd in the down chopper), that way the whole piece can serve as either terrain or as an objective in its own right.

You could even use the snipers that you are making.

Well, after wrestling with the photo maker for a while I managed to get the picture of the snipers up (still very WIP)

To make the squad Really MSMR, give one of the a SM head to hold, while in the other hand holding a bloody chainaxe. Nothing screams "WTF?" like heresy!

Cool PIcs, I especially like the bright deffkopta. And the guarsdman firing a grenade from his rifle rocks!

Sweet painting skills you got Cain! What kind of terrain (mud, woods etc.) is your valkyrie going to be downed into? (I don't know if that's correct english but what the hell )

I'm liking the colour on the crashed valk. Really cool paint job. If I can suggest something though maybe a little black stippling around the hole in the wing to make it look burnt and maybe some metal scratches where its crashed into the ground (for scratches, I find a bit of blister foam dipped in a small amount of Boltgun metal looks good. Then take most of the paint off by dabbing it. Then applying what is left sparingly to the model in the direction you want the scratch). Anyway I'm looking forward to seeing it based.

Really liking the colour scheme on your Blood Angels too. Nice and bright as BA should be.

Thanks for all these great comments guys! Seeing as I am the only hobbyist in the province it does get a bit lonely sometimes.

PDH@ I think I will do that very soon, it was one of the things that I missed when painting it

Rose_Mountainz@ I have yet to decide between sand or mud (the valk will be part of a DKOK army) any suggestions would be great!

On the suggestion side of things, I was wondering how to paint my tyranid genestealers. I have two space hulk sets of them so it adds up to around 40 of the things! .I did not buy 2 space hulk sets, but 2 of the 'nids came broken, GW said they were sorry by sending me every purple frame included in the set! (the only thing was that I had many that were identical and ended up chopping to make them look different them up anyway. Hmm got a bit off track there, but any painting ideas would be great (mine all look like they are wearing pajamas for some reason!



Speaking of space hulk, this is what I did with the extra 'dead' marine. (WIP paintwise)

I used a hobby knife, three plasters/band aids and a great deal of patience! Probably not the best choice of tool but it was the only one I had.
