That's just me dreaming monkey! I only get lots of 40k around Christmas as I spend the rest of the year painting it all up!

At WM, I am sure I have plenty of small bases lying around, I may have to look to ebay for some termie sized ones however.

(however did you manage to spend a grand on warhammer?!)

It doesn't come with enough bits to make termis (no torsos), so you'll be safe there.

Oh and to hit a grand I got:
X2 GF9 Concrete Rubble Mix ($3.99 each)
X1 Apocolypse Book ($50)
X1 Apoc Reloaded ($29)
X1 Apoc Templates ($22)
X1 Battlefield Accessories ($11.50)
X1 Sanguinary Guard ($33)
X2 Assault Squad ($29.75)
X1 Drop Pod ($33)
X1 Baal Pred ($49.50)
X1 Vindicator ($44.50)
X1 IG Codex ($29)
X1 Cadain Battleforce ($95.00)
X2 Cadain shock troops ($24.75)
X2 Cadain command squads ($25.00)
X2 Leman Russ Battle tanks ($49.50)
X1 Leman Russ Demolisher ($49.50)
X2 Hellhound ($49.50)
X2 Basilisks ($49.50)
X1 Eldar Codex ($29)
X1 Eldar Battleforce ($90.00)

For a whooping retail total of $1028.98

My next closest was like $600.

I do want to point out that I should the IG (decided against starting them at this time) and gave my brother the eldar. I also got quite a discount, that price was retail.

Also makes me realize how much my collection has cost. Holy crap! At the current retail price, my Land Raiders alone are over $500!

Well, it has been a long time! What with all these commisions and other projects getting in the way, I have not had much chance to paint anything of my own until now. I went paint crazy this weekend and finished two termies (only two more left now!) and three guardsmen that have been sitting around for far too long. Anyway here they are

The termies have some battle damage that I may add to the rest of the squads as I quite like it! I also gave them glowing eyes as I found the faces a little flat. The assault cannon has some scorch marks from GW washes that I have never tried before, apart from that they are pretty regular. Just need to get some bases for them now.

And the other termie,

More source lighting,

And the imperial guard, this group who I have named the Artic Foxes as they originally came from an ice moon, although as you can tell from the state of their armour they are on a slightly muddier planet

The troops vary in armour darkeness to represent how long they have spent in service, ranging from almost 10 years to a couple of months.

Group shot,

The railgun wielding trooper,

(there is osl on the gun, it is just not visible!)

these faces are turning out pretty well,

A lasgun trooper with scope (taken from a SM scout)

The armour is SO easy to do! The trick is sponging on some charadon granite for the chips,

And I almost forgot this guy, a newbie into the ranks of guard as you can tell by his armour and the emerald eagle on his helmet.

I have put a symbol on his shouderpad but it was to complex and I think I will remove it. It was a claw holding a ringed planet.

*fun fact* I was painting the yellow stripes on the guys gun when I caught a whiff of the paint and thought to myself "it smells like Tau" Who else goes to war in yellow armour!? well, besides

Hopefully I can get one more guy painted up before the end of the day, then it is back to commisions!

Nice work my friend, love the termie with the assault cannon. I was just reminiscing with some new friends at Adepticon as to how when I first started playing 40k 20 years ago or so, a terminator with an assault cannon was a god on the battlefield. Nice to see such a good treatment of an old concept.

Great weathering on all miniatures. The Deffkoptas look like flying scrap metal, or in other words, exactly as Gork and Mork have intended. The assault cannon gunner is also my favorite. Not exactly sold as far as the Guard is concerned, but maybe that's because I think the whites and yellows make them firepower magnets. Too much olive drab and feldgrau for me lately!

Nice to see your own minis making an appearance again commander. The Termies are cool , and the guardsmen have some serious weathering going on. ( the rail gun is a nice addition too matey )

Is that a custom rotary blade on the gyrocopter? nice touch .

Three months late there Neil! Thanks anyway! I can say that I have piles more guardsmen on there way very shortly (I may even have some pics of them uploaded by the end of the day)

That is indeed a custom blade made from the remains of a superglue container (the flexy metal part)

Like I said, I have got a squad of stormtroopers painted, a DC tank and am just putting the finishing touches on a vet squad. I had a few commisions to finish and still need to get a GMS marine done up before I get too carried away with my own stuff!

Please go easy on it, this is only my second tank I have ever painted!!

I like the osl on the front lights quite a bit, and for any number tank painted it's still good- sharp colour, some good weathering, blah blah blah etc. etc. etc.

Keep painting. Kaesar II

lovely work with your death company , Taken notes of the black for my own deathwatch guy. what colour did you highlight the armour with? The blue screens are great too mate, that black blue gradient is super

Thanks guys! I used a super detail brush for the interior, the trick is to start with a very dark colour and work upwards to an almost-white version of the base.

Don't worry about the necro Neil, you made me post an update! The armour only got a single highlight of adeptus battlegrey with some chainmail chipping in spots.

thanks again!

Love that control panel! Maybe a little heavy (or diffuse?) on the headlight OSL... but nice all the same.

Huh, guess you don't like him too much

How about a grot? Gotta love these guys. I use them for new paint experiments, this guy was my way of testing out a different way of painting metal. What do you think?

Before I forget. Whalemusic, your marine is almost finished! I have had a shoulder pad to paint for tha last few weeks and have been puttign it off until canada post is cooperating again (strikes! ) Wouldn't want him getting lost in the warp after all this time!

What is next? Time for an IG army shot methinks...

Spelling is also off today

Missed the officer, but he looks really good! Does the model do anything in game, or is it just a display piece?

Always like grots, there's just something about em. The skin looks really good, but I think the weapons look almost too worn and weathered. I think the rock on the base should help balance out such a top heavy model

If I remember right, an officer of the fleet can call an orbital bombardment, think of him as a leman russ on a 25mm base

Completley agree with you about how worn the weapons look, pehaps he found them while scrounging around his little rock planet! Perhaps I willl save that metal effect for bases only.

No, It's the MoO that does that. The officer of the fleet forces the enemy to -1 from his reserve rolls.

oops, got that rule wrong, an officer subtracts 1 from the opponents reserve rolls and you can also make him reroll to determine where they arrive. Handy
