Seriously. For the first time ever i am!
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/religion/7974513/Britain-a-selfish-and-hedonistic-wasteland-says-Archbishops-adviser.html
"Edmund Adamus, an adviser to the Archbishop of Westminster, said five decades of liberalising abortion and gay rights laws had made Britain more anti-Catholic than countries where Christians can be subjected to violent persecution"
I dont get it though, whats wrong with allowing homosexuals and women the choice to ..you know.. do what they want to do?
Am i missing something here? How can allowing people personal freedom be so.. negative?
|
We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels. |

You can't get more Anti-Catholic than the aftermath of the 16th and 17th century when polarizing figures like Bloody Mary (Queen Mary I) and the suspicion of Papal designs on England caused laws to target Catholics, depriving them of liberty, property and sometimes life. The English Civil War didn't help either.

Not wishing to upset anyone who is superstitious but the Catholic Church is fast becoming it's own worst enemy. Ask most people what springs to mind when you say the words Catholic Priest and I'm sure a fair amount will utter the words "bloody kiddy fiddlers".
Mrs Squilverine was raised as a Catholic along with the rest of her family, now it's only her mother who hangs onto this particular faith. Her decision to identify more with the CoE was to do with the abuse scandals and the way in which the Vatican has (or hasn't) dealt with the problem.
What also angers me is that when the Pope visits the UK it will cost the Briitish tax payer somewhere in the region of £10 million to take care of his security. Why the hell should we foot this bill when the guy lives in a palace, runs his own country, wears a hat covered in jewels and who's presence is utterly irrelevant to most people who live here.
It would appear to most people who aren't particularly into religeon that the Catholic church is living in the past and urgently needs to review it's stance on key issues such as abortion, contraception and abuse before it looses any more followers.

You just pointed it out, when a Head of State visits another country usually the host country covers security expenses as it would be bad form to surrender sovereignty to allow the visiting Head of State to run the show, even the US secret service coordinates (and runs close security) M.

Why not? - you're clearly a lot more tolerant and patient than me - the CC is a hideous edifice of lies and inhumanity which does a disservice to the people it claims to represent. If someone out there fully supports the CC then they need to explain why they support the covering up of child abuse, deadly mis-information about AIDS in Africa, outrageous stone-age attitudes on homosexuality and an idiotic position on gender inequality before they get to complain about being "upset"

England and the Catholic Church have been at loggerheads far longer than this Archbishop seems to want to recognize, if only for his own agenda of gay intolerance and being against secular government where women get to decide for themselves and not let the Church make that decision for them. Also, if he thinks that what anti-Christian is like, he really needs to get out more and see the world. It just seems like sour grapes that Christianity doesn't have the strangle hold that it once had.
He also obliviously doesn't come close to speaking for all Christians, like when Pat Robertson blames Katrina on America being tolerant of homosexuality.

I think they'd be more popular if they just stuck to the teachings of Jesus and spent a little less time condemning everyone's behavior. IIRC their founder was actually pretty tolerant.

Thats true, however most visiting heads of state have something useful to do whilst they are here. Not just go on a giant jolly around the country in a pimped out cripple cart.

My Granny was raised Catholic. Then she met Grandad, a bastard child of two nominally Protestants.
Guess what the Father told her? If you marry him, you, your children, your grandchildren and so on, will all go to hell. No question asked, no repentance, no nothing. She's been agnostic ever since.
And since, according to Papal edict, I've been born with a one way ticket to hell I can do precisely two thirds of fifty percent of feth all about, the Catholic Church can very much suck my balls. Even if they're right, I'm damned, so I might as well say what I feel!
