I'm making an imperial guard company that is based on a moon. The surface of the moon is blue (like my font), and the light is dim from the gas giant it orbits. The lighting on the moon is much like the orange light that comes from a crappy street lamp.

So anyway, I'm trying to base my IG color scheme off of this idea. If anyone can tell me of some GW, reaper, or Citadel colors that would work for this, I'd appreciate it.

I also want to use non GW vehicles for my Chimeras and sentinels. It is a flat desert moon of fine crystals, so there is no need for treads. The vehicles need to have wheels to effectively and speedily traverse the terrain. (I looked at old crow models, and I love them, but I'm wondering if there's anything else out there.)

I also need advice on where to look to give my veteran squads carapace armor.

So, any advice is appreciated. Thanks all.

I think there are some decent night world schemes out there. Hmm... If the light is orange what actual colour would you need to be to look blue? The troops might, therefore, be a different colour on worlds with different coloured suns... or am I thinking too hard?

Regarding vehicles I would also recommend Old Crow stuff... good quality casts. Otherwise Pig Iron do some basic vehicles, but they might also be tracked. 1:35 scale LAV type kits might work, although my main problem with the cheap normal kits is that they are pretty flimsy. GW kits are at least build for handling.

I have tried 3 methods of carapace armour so far:

Green Stuff

Kasrkin Models

and GS with Tau legs

The other main method is to use SM Scout arour with Guard heads and weapons. If you are wanting shotguns on your carapace vets then scouts make even more sense.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Good advice. Thanks. I'm thinking about the scout body idea. I've never used greenstuff before and it scares me.

I didn't think too deeply into how the orange would affect the blue. I thought about how the rocks would be blue under normal white light. With that said, any ideas?

Wargames Factory has some really nice looking figs that I plan on getting for my IG stormtroopers. http://wargamesfactory.com/Home.htm. As for wheeled vehicles, you could try http://www.tamiyausa.com. You'll have to look around the site for a bit under the military vehicles section, but they have really good models that might inspire you. For the colors, try a practice fig, where you can paint it up and see how it looks and if you don't like it then you can repaint it. Just make sure that you take notes then you can reproduce the same colors later. I have a tendency to forget things between paint sessions so having things written down helps out. Good luck.

Remember, I stated above that the moon is blue. The theme I'm going for is bluish for how I'm painting my models. I just don't know which specific colors to buy.
