Heya,

After watching some World War One footage recently, I've been inspired to create some Counts-As Guard using World War One Minis. I found Renegade Miniatures, who do several Historic Ranges, including World War One. The plan is to use their Minis to create 750-1,000 Points of Counts-As Imperial Guard. I know that Renegade Miniatures don't have any Tanks, but I can source those from other Manufacturers. Sooo... the Question is, which World War One Faction would you like to see as Counts-As Imperial Guard?

Before voting, please take a look at the Models, here.

Post and say why you voted for what you did, too.

Martin

(Incidentally, I'm leaning towards either Early War French or Late War German. +Edit+ Or Early War British!)

Ha, lightning-quick response! The Early-War British are actually not bad, especially the Cavalry in Gas Masks! And I'm loving the Highlanders.

Brits!

French, Austrian, and German are already used by death korps

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of Early War British. After all, I'm British. The Highlanders would make amazing Stormtroopers, and again, that'd be funny, because I'm Scottish.

Early Brits look nice.

You also need to edit your poll. You have two late-war Germans.

Done! Thanks for the heads up.

I'm actually almost sold on the EW British. Cavalry with Gas Masks, Highlanders, Moustahchio Man Command...

Also, looky here! It's a Tank! Is it the right Scale, though? This would be perfect as a... what, Chimera? Leman Russ? It doesn't really suit either of them...

The tank is going to be a little small at that scale, but if you're not looking for a realistic WW1 fighting force anyway it might work as something. Hard to go wrong with that price.

People generally agree that 28mm models need 1/56th scale vehicles and can get away with the more common 1/48th scale.

Are you planning to use all the models "as is", no converting?

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Strangely enough I am currently working on turning my IG into mixed late/early WWI themed British Guard (The Britannon Imperial Guard - stunningly original I know ).

I think the early WWI models linked to in your first post look fantastic. I'd love to see what we both come up with.

Here's some 1/56th scale WW1 stuff...non-train stuff starts about half way down the page.

It isn't cheap though. Also, that is possibly the worst website in the world. Try to avoid hitting the front page unless you want a seizure.

For model kits, 1/72 is tiny unless you're a grot.

1/48-1/35 is the common range for them

Try Copplestone castings for light vehicles and tanks for counts as sentinels and Russes.
