Long story short: me and a friend have decided to move more into apoc as our armies have grown.
Before we started spamming gargants, warhounds etc we wanted to go smaller 1st to make sure we like dthe whole idea of it.

While he can simply go out and buy a stompa, im left having to make something.

For a while ive seen knight's in the odd thread here and there, but never really looked into them too much.
Now i have to build one, so im wondering if anyone out there has some info please.

Main question: Weapons..... what to give them? im sure each class had its own specific weapons set to it, but im in the dark here.

building the best: I think i might aswell go down the route of most here and grab a defiler kit and a sentinel.
Plasticard can be used to build the armour as i go with the odd bit of GS for filling.


so, please, anyone able to help with this?
Will be buying the kits tomorrow after work (online) so i have about 3-4 days to get a solid concept worked out.



This also gives me a nice attempt at building something bigger than usual, and since im not going to pay £250+ per warhound, any and all advice will help as i go from knight - hound.

Done some digging again today and didnt find much, but have this:


Paladin - battlecannon + CCW
Lancer - thermal lance? (may have to find rules, or make some)
Warden - Seen rons of different weapons on these, most however have a CCW, cannon and carapace missiles.

Looks wise i found a few pics, and it looks like the chunky defiler legs will be a yes (about a 10mm spacer in them to make them thicker)
Obviously with shin armour.

Head wise, im drawn between 2.
Either sentinel or another one which has a head made from parts of the defiler kit. (shin armour mostly i think.
And thats about it lol, still lost on this one.

which is kind of the route i wanted to avoid (while it may work out cheaper in the end, i want to start from basics on this one)

That seems to be the main part i will struggle with.
Ive seen people connect the hip section via the defiler center joint, but ive never been able to see what the main body and shoulders are made from.

simply wide defiler legs with shin armour and a new foot added in via plasticard.

also, i hate to plague you with questions, but what would be a basic weapon loadout please?

Warboss: I believe that Redstarone (i think thats his name on here) has produced quite a few with another member of dakka.
However, not sure on his status as of now, might be worth looking him up.


Failing that, throw an add in the swap shop, i know there are around 3+ people who have casted knights of thier own design and sold them, might be able to find one floating about.
I think they have been going for around £80 or so.

Not sure if they are still in production or sale as the team member that worked with the major original oldschool knight split up from what i have heard, Not to blow my own horn but I do have my own Titan line coming up, although it is more akin to the modern Warlord titan in style.

@jack, i believe Redstar's aren't in production any longer given he didn't cast the kits, although don't quote me on that, from what i recall when i originally asked, i was quoted £125 although you are better off asking someone who bought one what the final price was.

Regarding mine, no set price decided yet as i have yet to decide what i supply in terms of load-out and how to price the alternate weapon systems, heads and conversion kit.

Khargrim - I know it was red who made it and it was casted by another member, but i was unsure weather or not said other member had carried on the casting.
Last i saw more variant parts had been added.

Also, would be a nice change not to get slapped by a huge P&P charge due to living in the UK lol.

so far - Front and back of foot, Shin, Left and right thigh, Groin, Torso, Shoulder (works for left and right) Ranged arm mounting and Melee arm mounting, Chain blade and power gauntlet, a melta style cannon, aka Cannon#1

so its very far in, I have been left a little lax on it due to commissions and such, but will be fixing to work on it full go again. Currently i am changing the fingers on the gauntlet (which are fully poseable , 3 segments and will have choice of talons and standard finger tips in the fist pack.

Any chance of a bare-bones pack aswell? (single head, 2 basic weapons, no other options etc)

Just sort of a core to build on.
Will be sculpting it to death anyway with BA insignia.

well the idea is, you get the body, you choose a weapon for left and weapon for right, some weapons are specific others are variable, and a head. that is the selection, you can also choose the additionals along side should you wish

No problem, I love that so many people makes knights and as Mechanicum I am glad to help a brother adept

The torso on mine is made from the bottom plate from the defiler torso as the bottom, and the one half of the engine block sawed of from the main body attached. The sides are plasticard with two of the defiler torso back plates for the arm mounts and the top of the defiler turret for the front where the head is placed. the side armour are plasticard and the front neck shield as well. The top armour is the gun shield from a basilisk. the back of the knight torso is a gun mounting from a land raider and then some bottoms from a leman russ side sponson for bulking it out. If you need more info I'll see if I can dig out some more photos

As for the weapons layout I think that originally it was intended that the different classes of knights was somewhat defined by their loadout. But since that was a long time ago I'd advice you to stick to the weapon types you like. The most common loadout is a chainsaw and a laser lance/ lascannon but I've made both a vulcan bolter and a thunder cannon for mine as well. Go with the magnets it's much easier and you can have several weapon options

The resin Knights on the thread I linked are made by a French guy going under the Alias Bigdady and I believe he is a member here on Dakka as well as on Warseer. As far as I remember his kit (which is one of my favourite amongst the knight kits made) costs 100 euros, and comes in different classes, Palladin, castelan and some I don't remember. I can get you his contact info if you are interested

I'm sorry I have to correct you but since this is as wrong as it can be I simply must clarify...

The contest (which I entered myself) was not for custom knights, but for knight titans of ones own or others device. It was a painting contest arranged by Bigdaddy who created the kit that most of the contestants used and are the entries shown above, not a build off contest. So to correct you propperly; Yes the knights above are made by one guy, but since it is from a painting contest they are not painted by one guy but by several- All of which have bought this kit from Bigdaddy.
