100% of everyone dies, except Chuck Norris. Obviously.
However, statistically speaking, non-smokers die after not dying for longer than smokers. Plus they don't stink of smoke.

Everyone dies - a universal truth.
I used to enjoy smoking, but now I don't. The odd time when I'm gak faced looking for my car keys I might have a puff, but that's about it.

I don't smoke, I don't enjoy the taste or feeling at all. I am, however, incredibly sick of the constant reports and naysayers that bawl their eyes out screaming "Think of the Children!" and quoting thousands of varying statistics. It's gone from alarming to regular to tedious and worse. I just came across this quote and it gave me a bit of a laugh. Being harrassed by non-smokers is probably worse than the actual smoke itself.

If you ask me smoking is a personal choice and so long as your not dangering others (i.e holding them down and blowing smoke in their face) and you don't insist on doing it in public areas full of non smokers then people should leave you the feth alone.

The problem I find is that many people don't refrain from smoking in public places (I can understand smoking while walking along the pavement, even though it is quite disgusting walking along behind them in their cloud of stench), often standing right next to no smoking signs, right in the doorway to shops/pubs/etc (again often right next to no smoking signs), etc. Possibly the worst is when I wait for the bus to and from work and someone just comes and stands right next to me and lights up. The bust stops and stations are quite large (not to mention it is now illegal [and has been for some time] to smoke in bus stations), so why come and stand right next to someone and light up? Especially when the rest of the stop/station is empty.
Working at a hospital there is a shockingly high number (although perhaps not so shocking if you think about it) of smokers. With hospitals (at least the one I work at) being entirely smoke free sites, I can stand at a window overlooking the main street and see about 20 people at any one time and generally 5-10 of them will be smoking. Pretty much every ward and department has mounds of cigarette butts outside where people have smoked (despite not being allowed to smoke on the site) and then not bothered walking the 5-10 metres to the bin to dispose of their butt.
The old maternity building used to have big signs and even a speaker with a recorded "do not smoke" message on it and there were always people standing in the entrance smoking as pregnant women and their families walked in and out (though to be fair, a number of them were smoking as well...).

Apparently, though, active smokers live longer than former smokers who quit.

I thought it was something where if you quit and start again you would have been better off not quitting.
