Theme: New or Newly Decimated chapter heavy in scouts. Or maybe a chapter that prefers to skulk about. Forbidden: Dreadnoughts, Terminators. Note: Themey and Fluffy vs Crunchy. HQ - 115 Points Marine Captain - 115 points * Boltgun * Power Sword Troops - 800 Points Scout Squad Alpha - 200 Points * All Bolters * Sergeant Telion * 5 Extra Scouts * Heavy Bolter Scout Squad Bravo - 150 Points * All Bolters * 5 Extra Scouts * Heavy Bolter Scout Squad Charlie - 150 Points * All Bolters * 5 Extra Scouts * Missile Launcher Scout Squad Delta - 150 Points * All Bolters * 5 Extra Scouts * Missile Launcher Scout Squad Echo - 75 Points * All Bolt Pistol and Combat Blades * Landspeeder Storm (See Fast Attack Section) Scout Squad Foxtrot - 75 Points * All Bolt Pistol and Combat Blades * Landspeeder Storm (See Fast Attack Section) Elites - 260 Points Sternguard Veteran Squad Alpha * 5 Extra Veterans * 2x Missile Launcher Fast Attack - 300 Points Landspeeder Squadron Alpha - 200 Points * 3 Landspeeders * Multi-Melta * Heavy Flamer * Typhoon Missile Launcher Landspeeder Storm Alpha - 50 Points * Vanilla * Scout Squad Echo Landspeeder Storm Bravo - 50 Points * Vanilla * Scout Squad Foxtrot == The list is themed for a Force - Recon style "Strike Fast" kind of force. Melta and Missiles provide anti tank, while the heavy bolters, missiles and regular bolters provide anti infantry. Sternguard provide an elite core. Not a competitive list, but one based around the above theme. Theme might switch to a specialist Urban Assault Force, at which point the list might well change considerably. However, because Scouts cannot, for some reason, carry flamers, that wouldn't seem workable. No heavy support because none fit the theme. Scout squads can set up mid-field and begin firing on incoming infantry and vehicles early game, with Storms providing CC support. Should probably drop 30 points somewhere and take multi-meltas on both storms for early game transport popping. Landspeeders can deep strike and provide additional support if needed. The Sternguard and Captain both have droppods, to deploy after the scouts have something. M. EDIT 2: 25 points left. Fixed a few points costs, it should be correct now.

Nice recon army. Know this isnt really recon but maybe a couple of predators? Would be fine without them though.

Isn't that 4 Fast Attack slots?
Looks like fun and a whole heck of a lot of scouts. While it's not crunchy, it has a bit of bite but lacks the tooth of a traditional tac/ dev gunline. I might replace one scout squad with a single tac squad arriving via drop pod or re-equip your sternies.
I like running the 10 man sternguard squad with 2 heavy weapons (heavy bolters, heavy flamers, multi-meltas are likely candidates), 5 combis, and a razorback. They combat squad with the two heavies in one team on foot and the 5 combis in the razorback.
Think of the sternies or the tacs as the "special forces" team that shows up to help out the newbs. My Crimson Fists list has a similar vein as yours, but is primarily veterans with only a single tac or scout squad as troops. Of course, I run Pedro so my sternguard are scoring.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money
"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Also, please don't post point costs of wargear on this site as that's a GW no-no.
For the list, That looks like 4 FA slots which is illegal. However, I've often wanted to build a list like this. I, too, agree sternguard are awesome for a scout list as the chapter's vets would be spec-ops elite.

I had forgotten that FA was limited to 3; do you think I should drop the second storm (and second CC scout unit) or a landspeeder squadron?

I'd drop the Landspeeder Bravo squadron , pick up the upgrades for the Sternguard (say 2 heavy flamers and 3-5 combi-plas or -meltas) and maybe a Librarian with GoI and Avenger to make a deep striking all-purpose kill team. Might want to make the unit a little smaller to accomodate DSing safely, though.

Thanks for the heads up; I ran through the numbers again and now somehow it's 1745 points instead of 1500; I'm not sure how I managed that though, as when I removed the speeder squad I kept a running tally of how many points that gave me back. I will fix it later today.
