Me and a friend (CommissarCandlestick) are making rules and a small army for the Mechanium of mars. I'm thinking of it as a shooty, armoured and quite elite army.
For army choices we're thinking for HQ:
Tech Magus
Tech Priest
(For Characters possibly the fabricator general)
Troops:
Adepts of Mars
Tech guard
Not sure about elites and heavy support (Apart from Tech marine for elites)
For models, adepts are imperial guard with green stuffed hoods, cloaks and mechanical masks, pipes ect.
Tech guard are similarily blinged up marines and HQs follow a mixture of that modelling theme and techmarine stuff.
Feedback appreciated

Well, I'd say check out some of the lists floating around the net, they have some good ideas. Definitely should not have the fabricator general as a character - according to the fluff those who actually fight battles and such are generally looked down on by the rest of the priesthood - I doubt the Fabricator General would ever deign to command anything less than titan legions. I don't really know what you want to express with the Adepts of Mars, but maybe this will help
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Skitarii
I'd say check out the Iron Brotherhood models at Micro Arts Studio
http://www.shop.microartstudio.com/iron-brotherhood-c-36_43.html
But yeah, to reiterate, definitely read up on others ideas, as they can help a lot in rounding out your own. I'd be interested in reading your rules once you get some more hammered out.

Why make rules?
You could quite easily build a mechanicus army using marine rules.
Scouts - Adepts
Marines- tech guard
Tech marines - as themselves
Dreadnoughts - mechanical constructs
Mast of the Forge - Forge-father
List goes on.
But in the same line, it gives you an instant balanced list to keep to, this way you know it wont be over or under powered.
The theme is also very easy to fit in.

I suppose so, but It wouldn't be so....special. But I still might do some of those ideas,as as you said,it gives you an instant balanced list to keep to, and balance is something that is hard to acheive.

Haven't made any, but wouldn't be too hard.
use Defilers for landcrawlers
Guardsmen with a suitable paint job for Techguard.
Skittatii would be the hardest.
there was an old WD that had a Mechanicus "counts as CSM" army in it.

@CommissarCandlestick
Yeah, make them Elites, and as Grey Templar said they could be a retinue for a Tech Magus, but it would mean we would need to think up an extra HQ- What would it be, a Tech captain? (could be Techy lord commissar?)

We could do something like Priests of the Omnissiah?

what do you think Tech-PREISTS are?
a single HQ seems fine to me, especially such a customizable one
