At my LGSs it seems that there is a higher % of people that smoke than in other areas. So I'm just wondering how many of you out there use tobacco products.

Dip?

As for Monster, I love the drink, because it is the only one that I can truely chug and then, with it slightly drooling out of my mouth, yell "KAOS IS MY MASTER!"

And Tobacco is a big turn off with the ladies. Them using it, not me. She may look hot now, but whoo boy, not for long.

In your head, screwing with your thoughts...

Tobacco is disgusting and I hate it. I grew up with Asthma because my mother is a smoker.
Now, that's not to say I've never smoked, but I'm also not saying I've ever smoked tobacco...

Please don't try bypass the swear filter like that please. ta.

I mainly smoke cigarettes, though I'll partake in any other form of tobacco imbibement I can. I've cut back a lot recently, and so now it's back to out of enjoyment rather than out of necessity.

I'm surprised at the overwhelming anti-smoking sentiment to be found here. You'd think that playing with toy soldiers would teach people tolerance towards others' passtimes and habits, and not outward disgust. Ah well.

I don't get how you can link playing wargames with friends with having a tolerance for damaging and socially unhealthy habits.

Smoking in your home, not an issue. It only gets disgusting if it is being done in a small room with others, or right in peoples faces in public.

Because by partaking in a hobby that is generally deemed as socially unacceptable, you understand what it's like for you or your interests to be blatantly insulted or looked down upon, especially when you can't say much of anything in defense of yourself.

There's a difference between being a smoker and being an inconsiderate dick.

I'd agree with gamer prejudice and smoker prejudice to be on par if smoking was a hobby that did not physically damage every person in the vicinity of it, but we will have to disagree till then I'm afraid.

As for not all smokers being dicks, bingo. As I said, it's only disgusting if other people are made to be involved in it. Doing it at home as a pastime, go for it.

I started smoking when I was 14. I hate it, it's a disgusting habit and costs way too much money. But I've failed to quit like 20 times now.

Again, that boils down to being an inconsiderate dick, which has nothing to do with the base form of 'smoker'. I am always sure to ask what the appropriate setting for smoking will be among a group of people. If everyone present does smoke, then it generally does not bother them when you smoke around them (though the majority of smokers I know do not tend to smoke inside, as it stains and tarnishes everything and causes you to chain smoke). I even go out of my way to ask where to dispose of my cigarette butts when I'm done smoking.

Generally, it's people and their mannerisms which are responsible for damaging your health with secondhand smoke (despite this being negligable in comparison to other carcinogens you are exposed to on a daily basis), and not the tobacco itself.

I like pipes and cigars......and I am the occasional bum smoker. By occasional I mean the last time I smoked was....6 months ago now.
I dislike it when people freak out if they have to walk by one guy smoking, they seem to think that they suddenly have lung cancer. That minor bit of damage that may have happened will work out of your system...its not a big deal.
You might get lung cancer if you smoke all your life, and you might get if you breathe 2nd smoke all your life. But the truth is a little bit won't hurt you.

Smoked once upon a time. For a few months (so not serious).

Haven't touched it since. ANY form of burning leaf/herb.

I only have a problem with it if it's being blown into my face as a challenge/insult.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

This seething hatred of smokers is quite entertaining.
More, I say! More!

There were a few smokers at my old FLGS who were regulars, and less at my current, none of whom I would consider 'regular'. It's a social activity, so that makes sense.

I don't care about people smoking near me - but as chrome mentioned - having it deliberately blown in my face is a different thing. If I choose to converse with someone who is having a smoke, I expect to smell it, and to have it expressed in my general direction. I don't expect the person to face away from me. It's no less carcenogenic than what everyday vehicles and industry expose us to, in terms of 'second-hand' inhalation.

Ifalna, you seem insistent that it should only be done at home.

This is a hot topic for me, because im a non smoker who passionately thinks that smokers are treated ridiculously unfairly.

Im a man of iron principles, i think that 99% of people vote in favour of things just because they feel it benefits them, and not because something is right or wrong.

Well I dont like the smell of smoke on my clothes, i prefer pubs smoke free, and its nice to be without a cloud around me when i sup a pint, but do i feth think they should have banned it.

If some 80 year old war veteran wants to smoke his pipe while he has a pint and reads his paper, like his grandfather and his grandfather before him, then he should have the fething right, they were there first. Long before all these pinko fething hippies turned up and started forcing us all to play by their goddamn rules.

If you dont like the smell of smoke (angry feminists and animal rights activists in tye dye shirts who love Ken Livingstone) then why did you get a job in a bar? Go work elsewhere.

feth the non smoking nazis. I say people should be able to smoke where the hell they like, and its the people that dont smoke should deal with it or leave. Its only a minor embuggerance to me.

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

Anti smoking hate is funny.

Just to add to the drama here.

My dad died from lung cancer when I was 4. he was a heavy smoker and worked in heavy industry so he had pretty good odds of dying of some terrible disease or death.

So... I have regularly smoked Cigarettes, I have a proper pipe and I smoke good cigars. I have effectively given up cigarettes and am not now a regular smoker. I am enjoying the pipe, which was originally brought as a joke present for me. I also pop into my tobacconist when I can as they have a great range of smokeable products and come up with some odd gems and really decent cigars.

People can smoke around me, I have no problem with that, even if I am not smoking. In the UK you cannot smoke indoors on most premises, which is no big deal either.

Sorry, I came off wrong earlier. The "doing it at home" statement was in response to smoking being a pastime or hobby which automatically seem home based things to me ( not really though when you think about it ).

I have no problem with people smoking outdoors either. My only issue with smoking are the dicks who will do it in confined spaces with non smokers. As much as people like to say its their choice, its still not cool. People don't tend to fart or reek of Bo in confined places with others if they can help it, so smoking really is a cruddy thing to do around others indoors unless they are by choice in a designated smoking area. All indoor public places in Ireland are non smoking now anyway or have designated areas for smoking which works well. Means smokers can still have a ciggy and I can still be in the same building without getting a migraine.

I'm not a fan of the use of any tobacco products, but I'm much more comfortable around smokers, then smokeless tobacco users.

Grosses me the hell out when they carry that bottle around just spitting in it. I was very to happy when our new workplace policy made it so they had to go to the smoke pit with the smokers to use their tobacco.

I actually agree with you guys on this subject. I totally agree on no smoking in a restaurant, because it never fails, when my family shows up, its some dude with a damn cigar puffing away a booth away. BUT people that complain about it in bars? Really? Why not stop the sale of booze while they are at it. I mean its what you goto a bar for anyways right? To smoke and drink. Hell they actually have smoke free apartments out here where if you live in it, you are not allowed to smoke in side the apartment your renting. That just blows my mind. Your telling me Im paying rent for this place.....but I couldnt smoke in it if I wanted too? Seriously dumb.

None now, but in my first degree at university back in the mid 1990s we used to smoke a cigar or 2 whilst drinking every friday night, at the bars. Even the girls puffed on them. Looking back it was remarkably popular.

Very tasty and helped make the beer even more drinkable.
