1,300 yen is about £10. Unfortunately postage to the UK adds another 780 yen.

Even so I might pick up one or two of these because the kit offers a bunch of parts useful for detailing and conversions.

You get two of each cannon type in the box so both balls can sport the same weapons.

V cute, even if the weapons are rather bland. Great as alternate Necron models, or, covered in rust and rivets, something orky...

Because nothing says Necron like the latest cutesy tech apple i-kill ;p. I do think they could like nice in some sort of conversion piece, but the dont strike me as immediatly awesome.

Depending on size, I'd chop of the legs and save them for later, and use the balls and cannons as Grot Tank turrets.

Ditto that. They come 2 to a package and you get 2x each weapon, so that's a Hydra per pack plus 2x lascannon sentinels/blight drones/killa kans etc. All for $15.44 plus shipping... not bad.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

To be fair, they're not supposed to be too awesome, what with originally being construction vehicles hastily outfitted for space warfare. Although there are some cases where they kick legitamite ass....

I'm gonna be honest, I would rather spend the $20 on basically anything else. These kits look bad.

Although those Balls may not be the best example, Bandai's HGUC, MG, and PG Gundam kits are very high quality.

Some of the Gundam kits are absolutely fantastic -- multi-colour, snap-fit, many moving or interchangeable parts. They are miracles of plastic engineering. GW could learn a thing or two.

Even the bad ones are pretty damn good, actually.

It's a shame I'm not into Gundam. I prefer the old Crusher Joe / Macross style of "realistic" mecha.

I love Gundam models, I've built a load, I also buy SOC's and yes Bandai is amazing and full of genius nutcases but I fail to see what GW could learn from Bandai.
GW don't need to make multicoloured kits, they don't need to make them snap fit either and the few moving parts they put on their kits work fine as is. Perhaps slide moulding would be good but that's not exclusive to Bandai and it's possible GW have already started using it or at the very least have access to it should they want it.

JohnHwangDD wrote:Did you get the 1/35 VOTOMs kits? You should.

The Votoms kits are an excellent example of what slide moulding can do. I haven't made one but as I recall from the hobby show pimping they got, the whole inner frame of the cockpit was made in one piece by use of slide moulding.

GW used to do colored kits, like tan Undead, and much of their newer stuff has snap-fit type capability. The heavily-articulated Bandai kits just aren't sturdy enough for serious play, tho.

GW has slide molds - the Baneblade guns use this technology for pre-drilled gun barrels.

I would like to see GW do multi-colour kits to make it easier for people to make OK looking armies without much painting effort.

I thought that's what basecoat & dip were for.

I can't find it, but some guys dipped an entire Undead army for a GT in a week.

I'm talking about the Grey Marines.

SMs could be moulded in a variety of colours, either on the same sprue or on different sprues, so you could have yellow legs, red torso and green pauldrons or whatever.

It's one of the no grade 1/100s so I don't expect it to have very much if any interior detail.

They would be just as easy to paint if they came ready moulded in popular Chapter colour schemes.
