well like the tread name states i am a DE player 40K and WHFB.
I have a problem with finishing an army or tatally paint it so i thoughed mabe this tread whould be a good motivator.
Just a quick warning my painting skills are like my ability too type english (pretty bad i would say) so bear with me on not top notch grammer (stupid dylecticia and english not being my native languaege) or paintings.

well on too the more intresting part and away from my exusses.
40K DE - The Kabal of the Star Serpants
with the comming of the new DE codex and models i desided i want too go back too my favorite race in 40K so i grabbed my models and paint. i was wondering about a paint scheme and came up with this:

the whole model except the skin and some parts of the gun:
necron abis - basecoat
enchanted blue dry brush
leviatan purple wash
enchanted blue dry brush

some parts of the gun (barrel and a little piece on the back)
mithril sliver
asuruman blue wash.

skin:
elf flesh
ogryn flesh wash
elf flesh highlight
elf flesh + tentacle pink (2:1) highlight

the base's will be necron abis with some white smeres and whit spots which is my idea of how space would look like. so yeah basicly i need an better base any idea's? my overall idea was a stealthy look with blue almost black armour stalking trough the night ready too kill and mangle just because there was nothing good on TV.


this is what i still have too do before i allow myself too buy new models:
- 20 warriors
- 4 jet bikes
- raider
- achron/dracon

DE fantasy - the Ark of the star serpants
well i wanted too go for a traditional purple silver scheme.
paint scheme lay-out and the to do list will come when i am finished with the DE in 40K.
i will be painting towards an armylist but i still need to write one.

Very interested in the bases, what is the type of terrain they represent please?

It is really good to see something other than grass.
The only thing is that it looks on the photograph to be too similar to the figure.

the bases are a attemped at making them look like a star sky. you know the galaxy with milky ways and stars.

and yes i am stoked at the new models thats why i am painting my DE. Hopefully i can make a winch army now i just love those models. cant wait for them too launch. tomorrow there will be a update 20 warriors (i hope) and maybe a raider

sounds good! im really looking forward to this, def with the new DE models coming out, i want to see how people model and paint them so i can see if i want to pick up a few just for painting purposes.

yah i saw some of the new mandrakes there awesome (not like the Miz but really awesome). about the bases i am curently searsing for dragon sand. its like red sand that with a little bit of water can be modeled like clay but realy easy.

*edit: i was thinking (something i rarelly do) would it be cool too convert a mandrake army? like use the mandrake models for evertything.
mandrakes with guns = kabillite warriors
mandrakes without weapons = wynches
mandrakes with 2 handed weapons = incubi

what do you out there think of this? too much the same or awsome (not like the Miz or the miss as i call him)

First off, I would have to disagree on your painting skills. It looks great so far. I love the jet bike base, I can see it looking like the bike is screaming across the night sky. The night base on the figure looks like it blends a little too well from base to fig so the details on the fig don't stand out much (it could be the lighting in the picture also). I like what you are doing and look forward to seeing more. I've always liked DE, just haven't gotten there yet in 40K.

he everybody. oke time too rivive this treat due too inactivity from me. i had a internship that left little time for painting. but i am back on track and just finished my first heamoculus(1 of 6) and i am planning on some wracks. now i dont want too use ghouls but i thought of some thing else. lets use wood.

I mean dryads as wracks.

treekin as grotesque.


I want too paint them a like bone. fluff wise i will just say that the heamonculus found a way too twist the bones of there victems too squeeze out that last bit of pain. Its like the bonesinger from dawn of war 1 i believe there is a model for it too

The Treekin are making more sense to me, but I'm not taken by the GW Treekin as treekin.

You will need to make the wood more bonelike, as you say, and perhaps anthropomorphise them more.

Not overly keen on the Dryads at the moment tbh

They would need a lot of work. Maybe it is because I can only see them as Woodies.

@chibi - i know i am not sold on the dryads as they are now but i am planning on making them more bone like and have them misformed bones and stuff. the treekin I wil most likely give a few patches of meat on it so i can get my symbol on it a marihuana leaf becuase of the name of the coven. the coven of the cronic (go Jay and silent Bob). the vines haning of the models are great because it can double as cabeling.

i will expect too have a pic of Lord Joda and two of my yellow wytches (because its totally stealthy) this afternoon or else tommorow.

well i lost my cable too conect my phone too the pc little bummer but i will look for it this weekend. in the mean time i have been looking at some LOTR models and i find these quite cool maybe i can run these as grotesque/wracks oppinions please

Seeing as Wracks are just Dark Eldar or other poor sods who have been experimented on by the Haemonculi Cults, i'd use Either Ghouls, Zombies, or The Dryads as the Wracks...

and then as the Grotesques, either some Chaos Spawn (finally a use for them in 40k) or........ well.... thats the only idea i have at this moment for Grotesques ^^.

well there monsters created by the heamonculus who where created as there masters wanted them too be. but i think i will creat my own fluff about them and maybe even enscrew the fact there dark elder at all and make a undead army who heapen too be the same as dark eldar units. a little like the dead men in LOTR whom they would represent.

Ghost DE not as DE at all is kind a neat idea, you could have a lot of fun with the fluff on them - their "splinter weapons" actually draw life out of the enemy, stuff like that which is why they don't affect vehicles.

Then of course I would rather not see any DE models or ones that don't really look like them (kind of like Tinfoil's daemon ig)

Anyway, I will be following this with interest.

no this will be different from my normal kabal units who are now black/blue or from my whyches who are yellow.

You manage to get your hands on any of the new DE yet, been curious to see how they look in comparison to your first model

i have about 20 of the new wyches only i disided on a different color scheme but still tying the too the kabal. the only thing i now dont have is a camera thats why the lack of updates. oe and i made a kopta airoplain for my ork waagh

dryads as wracks sounds really nice actually. I really like them but have still to find a use for them, and this seem like a really nice one for a DE player.

At first I wasn't sure on the DE figure but now that I have looked at it more closely it looks amazing. The skin looks great, but I think the wash on the gun has pooled a bit. Also the bases do look like the night sky
