EDIT - This blog stated off as PDH - Odds and Ends - Random 40k and Fantasy Models but seems to have turned into a Inq28 blog from page 2/3 onwards. So I have renamed it.
Hi Guys,
Well I started painting my Necromunda Scaly with speargun last weekend and I felt I was rushing him. Which is never a good thing, so I put him down. A few days later I was in the mood to paint again....but something different. Decided to paint the Snikrot model my girlfriend got me for Valentine's day (2009 ) So I thought I'd create a new thread for random models I've painted/I'm painting. I hope you like it...
Snakebite Nob WIP
edit finished June 14
Well I had to convert him so I went with my favourite Ork Clan... Snakebites. I'm not sure about the tau sept ochre plates? What do you guys think? I will add some damage if I don't change the colour.
A few other models I've painted over the last couple of years. I'll put some more up in a few days.
My favourite FW model. The skulls came out so much better than expected. I'm also pleased with the Daemon Axe.
The new Minotaurs blew me away when I saw them. I painted this one up to test out a metal technique. I had to watch a load of Arnie films while painting this beast up.
Nurlge Marauder Sorcerer - He leads my Nurlge cultists (count as marauders). Now I'm stuck in the past where the Warhammer World is at the centre of the Eye of Terror or is it the Maelstrom. So a chainsword is a perfectly reasonable weapon for a chaos warrior....if you cannot move past Slaves to Darkness and The Lost and The Damned Damn you GW
Does anyone have any hints or suggestions as to what size pictures should be to look good in thread? (I've just answered my own question......... I realised I had Opera zoomed in to 160% )

Thanks for commenting chaps. So it looks ok, reassuring... I'll probably do some appropriately contrasting coloured dags on the shoulder plates to break them up a bit. 2nd ed Ork Codex came in handy after all those years. Well painting will have to wait l I had better go to work.....wish I could stay home and paint
I forgot to post this pic with the Sorcerer... I think he makes more sense with it
Nurlge Culists (count as marauders)
Cheers

Bunnygurl - Ouch...rubbing not going to work in my face though admittedly you had to go through labour pains for it and I wouldn't want that ever You're lucky your son likes to sit and watch his mummy paint. I work with mothers and children on a daily basis so enjoy it while it lasts...he will learn how to run soon
Thanks - The cultists are Empire Flagellants with a few zombie heads thrown in. The front rank are old chaos champions, scavvy boss and forge word plague priests. Painted in nurgle colours with rusty weapons.
Are you painting anything nice at the moment? Are you going to share some nice pictures with us?
Take it easy

Bunnygurl - Ouch. Goblins are always ace. Ah the million projects problem .Taking pictures of models has been the hardest part of joining this web community (but very rewarding). Cool mini or not has some good articles on taking pictures. IRfanview is good for editing pictures and free. The most helpful though is the dakka FAQ http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/205120.page. As for over taking the thread you could start your own. Or just put some pics in your dakka gallery and tell me to go look Happy painting to you too.
Commander Cain - Cheers, did you mean Zhufor? (if you did I highly recommend him the detail on him is just jaw dropping, a joy to paint) I love painting but I need a break of the same old. The main reason I try and built a model then paint it now, rather than building a whole gang then painting the whole gang. I would go Cuckoo and they would never get done (like my 40k armies)
Cheers
Peter Automatically Appended Next Post: Hey Jackanory you asked what it is....
This is my Death Guard Daemonically Possessed Vindicator. It never hits anything and is usually blown up by turn three (or has no weapon).
I modelled it so all the hatches are welded shut. The daemon inside is not a happy mitsimotosis bunny and trying to bash its way out. As for the paint job i was really happy with it in 2008 but the rust isn't great.
you can zoom in.

Now beer festivals are good fun....the hangover at midnight not so much... The urge to go online and check out comments on your Necromunda blog unstoppable....the disappointment well disappointing.....not knowing if you can get mig pigment out of your favourite jeans still niggling.
Anyway onto the point of this post... I think this model is the best I've ever painted and want to share it with you guys.

Enjoy and goodnight.

My head hurts and my mouth tastes like .....but at least the cause made me friendly last night
Commander Cain - Thanks. When I completed the vindicator a couple of years ago I was so pleased with the rust (I used the guide from the ogre kingdoms book). Looking at it now there is so much I would do differently because I've learnt quite a lot in the last few years. The main thing I would change is doing the rust first then mask it and then paint the off creamy colour on top, so the layers look like they are in the right order. So hopefully this will look so much better if I get round to painting it....
Jackanory - Cheers dude. The face came out so well. I think the main reason for that is I used a white undercoat, for the first time in years. It really changes the tone of the paints on top.
Beer festivals are dangerous..... (Note to self do not pick beers because they have interesting labels and if a beer is above 6% don't order it because you wont like it.)
Hey Bunnygurl - Hmmmm that might be a good move. As I'd really love a whole white space marine force I pulled out all the stops on this one model, a whole army its never going to happen. I painted this guy (one of my favourite models ever) over about a month as a challenge to paint nice white armour and use a white undercoat. The check pattern on the knee was fun and tough but I really enjoyed it because I was trying to improve myself. It took a while but the end result The tactical symbol on the back pack was much much harder to do than the checks, I just couldn't get the shape quite right.
A word of advice for painting white, to anyone who wants it....throw away your pot of skull white and order Vallejo Model Colour White. The dropper means your white paint does not get contaminated and so stays white.

Cheers guys
Monkeytroll - Cheers - Yeah the nob is now glaring at me with a look of "you've decided on the colour now paint me or I'll ead butt you!".
The Minotaurs are pretty nice... they just scream Arnie.
MADLarkin - No he is the only one.....though I've base coated another (The Gamesday 2005 Marine). I cannot really claim credit for the paint scheme....I decided to paint the yellow like spaces wolves myself. But the original scheme that I was inspired by was done by Desert Eagle on his Desert Eagle's chapter over at Bolter and Chainsword http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?showtopic=109012 Start on the first page and work your way through its worth the wait to page 5 for the first completed marine. Possibly the best space marines I've ever seen.
SlaveToDorkness - Thank you very much. The chapter name came about by contemplating painting the Space Hulk Terminators in the colour scheme. So I needed something that would work with the blood drop symbol. Also the best named chapter ever in my opinion are the Grief Bringers. 1+1=Tear Bringers

Well I've not checked in here for a while.
The Nob....is still a WIP, I've base coated all the ochre. I'm sure I've made my poor excuses elsewhere.
I broke when I saw Paz's The Deeper Well http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/328364.page. I wanted a Sybarite that looks that cool! This will not be turning into an army... I'm only planning on painting up five or so warriors and about the same number of wyches. I will also be getting an Archon for Christmas from Abi's parents.
So while I wait for the plastic glue to dry, on my attempt at a shard carbine, I thought I'd bung these guys up here for you to see. They still need green stuff here and there but you get the general idea.
I'll be taking inspiration for my Dark Eldar colour scheme from this orchid, before all the flowers fall off. IRL the white is more of a Vallejo Rotting Flesh colour. On the models I'll be going for a somewhat darker purple with rotting flesh edge highlights. We'll see how it works. As for naming...Kabal of the Decaying Orchid? Its the best I've got but its not quite there.
Weety - Thanks for the comment about the Tear Bringer. Every time I look at the model I'm chuffed.

Guy on the left has my take on a shard carbine. Shortened the barrel, added the vane thing underneath, snipped off the fourth/smallest nubbin on top of the barrel, snipped off the end of the barrel and added some green stuff supports along the barrel....all to try and alter it enough that it doesn't look too much like the rifle it started out as. Still needs a bit of tidying up and filing. The model holding it also needs glueing together. So plenty of time for suggestions on how to improve the carbine, please.
Scarper - Thanks. Yeah the heavy weapon just screamed out for a strap. Dude shush about the dogs...they are in a closed drawer , I'm sure they will get out soon enough and attack my modelling table. I Know I know one project at a time etc but the Dark Eldar are so very pretty besides I totally cracked
Calibanite Lion - Thanks, he was fun to paint and took ages. My first thought was Poisoned Orchid but for some reason I shyed away from it. I'll put it back on the drawing board because it does sound better.
monkeytroll - Cheers. Good luck with not getting any Dark Eldar. They are gorgeous models and such a pleasure to put together.
sum1thtdiesalot- Thanking You.

Help please. A little question for those of you who have put together some Dark Eldar.
Have any of you filled the gaps on the warriors shoulder pads? For some reason I am having great difficulty with them and I was after some pointers. Thanks in advance

I'm in the middle of under coating (in the kitchen with permission this time, dammed snow) five of my six warriors. The sixth one needs the right handed knife arm, from the raider box set, and Bits and Kits are all sold out at the moment. Oh well she can wait.
I'm still having problems with the Kabel name....but I've named my Wych Cult. The Cult of the Incendiary Heart. I'm thinking bright red PVC and black armour for these guys. I'll be honest and a certain adult movie star with a burning heart tattoo kinda clinched both the name and the colour scheme for me.
sum1thtdiesalot - Thanks. I filled the gaps today and it took quite a bit of effort.
neil101 - Cheers Neil. I get the feeling that this one might be a more long term main blog. But at the moment definitely side blog, I really want to get the scavvies done.... next year ha ha ha.
Yggdrasil - Thanks. I'm sorry about the models . I wish painting warhammer regiments was fun and I've vowed not to play a game until I have a painted army. I guess it'll never happen now GW have gone with massive regiments as a must. I've got some Nurlge Chaos Warriors on the go too (in a box for a year lol). I also wish that Chaos was Chaotic with warriors, daemons and beastman in the same army.
sphynx - Thank you. Thanks for the help with the name. Still not sure at all. Oh well I'll get their eventually.

Molotov - Thank You. The Dark Eldar warriors are a lovely kit. The Wyches look good but they are not getting touched until I've painted the warriors. I think they would make excellent Death Cult assassins... in fact I think that is what Migsula is doing here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/600/233990.page bottom of page. Actually having re read it maybe not but its still an excellent blog.
Since you've put some rather nice Inquisitor 28 stuff up I may as well show mine off too.
Inquisitor Emil Haxtus
Haxtus has been in the service of the Inquisition for nearly one hundred and seventy seven years, since his mentor tested his psychic strength aboard one of the black ships. During his tenure as an Inquisitor he moved towards the ranks of the Ordo Hereticus destroying the cancer from within. It was here he originally came across the Istvannian philosophy, believing the human race was its best at times of peril. Here he sought out and organised heretical cults, then brought the dangers to the attention of the authorities to be smote upon the anvil of the Emperors’ Justice.
Though a firm believer in the methods of the Istvannians he was never reckless in his endangerment of any world’s population. His view was that while good can come from conflict if a planet is overcome with corruption, it can no longer have a place in the domain of the Emperor on Terra. He regularly destroyed dangerous chaos cults intent on and capable of daemon summoning. It was at this stage his personal library of un-prescribed texts took form, originally to only help him conquer the blasphemous creatures brought forth using them.
Eventually he started to dabble in the rituals within the texts, to bring forth minor daemons for interrogation into the nature of the enemy. Forty years ago he carefully began his research into the process of making his own daemon host, to use against the enemy. This first attempt failed and left him severely scarred as the daemon broke its bonds and briefly used Haxtus as a play thing. Since then he always wears billowing hooded robes to hide his disfigurement and has armed himself more appropriately* for destroying the daemon. His second attempt eleven years ago was successful and the daemon host Judge Rhinehart is still bound to Haxtus.
* that would be a shoulder mounted psycannon (only used on deamons or bad ass chaotic characters) and a blessed weapon.
Daemon Host – Judge Rhinehart
When the daemon host was summoned the body that Inquisitor Haxtus used had been in a coma, brain dead, for years. The daemon when placed in the host body found the name of the previous occupier and has used it since, at first to attempt escape and then to torment and bring doubt to the Inquisitor.
As with most creatures from beyond it causes strange occurrences in its vicinity. Those within arms reach of the daemon host hear the whimper and cries of small children. Also if the host body is caught in precipitation or similar conditions water drops within a few metres turn to purple sparks until they hit the ground.
PDF Trooper Brandhof
Inquisitor Haxtus recruited Brandhof after a mission to bring down a rogue psyker on the ice world of Felixus IV. Trooper Brandhof was a member of a squad assigned as an honour guard to the Inquisitor. During the investigation the psyker made his presence felt by ambushing the Inquisitor and his party. The surprise attack mutated the PDF squad and the psyker ignored their altered remains, leaving them for dead. This left Haxtus and Judge Rhinehart to battle the psyker alone. During the ensuing combat Brandhof came round and instead of despairing at his new form he fought on. Despite the searing agony wrought by his newly deformed limbs Brandhof took aim and killed the psyker with a perfect head shot. Felixus IV governing body being particularly intolerant of mutation would have put Brandhof to death, except Haxtus was impressed with the trooper’s dedication and fortitude.
The attack has left Brandhof a hunched, twisted figure with thin wasted limbs and a bulging neck, which makes talking difficult. Since being recruited Inquisitor Haxtus continually uses the mutated trooper to help infiltrate mutant shanties and other unsavoury areas during his investigations. Brandhof is also used for a little extra muscle when necessary, with his steady aim. Brandhof manages his condition with a cocktail of pain suppressants and faith. He does not blame the Inquisitor for his current circumstances seeing him as a vessel of the Emperor’s might.
Master Savant Todial Galvisum
Many centuries has Master Savant Todial Galvisum worked for the Inquisition and with the death of his last three masters he has he been reassigned to the next generation. Galvisum does not judge the methods used by the Inquisition, only the results and is willing to openly play devil’s advocate with his masters. An expert in investigative work he often becomes obsessed with tasks until they are completed to his exacting standards. Having worked for Inquisitor Haxtus for the last one hundred years he was present during the failed attempt at daemon host creation and has been nearly killed during numerous incidents.
With his dangerous occupation and his advanced age he is slowly becoming more machine than man so that he can continue to serve. Not only has his body been repaired, it has been modified to improve his role in investigative work and can now link directly with logic engines. Having come into harm’s way frequently he has had sensors and bionics installed and has become adept at defending himself. The demands of controlling extensive bionic and electronic data storage has necessitated Galvisum being powered by a small generator.
Hierophant Yektor Pritov
Originally came into Haxtus’s service during an investigation into mutant cults in the lower districts of Hive Finnder Terceius on Finnder’s World. Pritov was a young priest in a small church on the edge of the mutant shanties. The Inquisitor interrogated the priest asking him for any leads with his enquiries. During the ensuing investigation it came to light that the chaos worshipping cult was actually in the higher echelons of the hives government. With Pritov’s help Inquisitor Haxtus persuaded the mutant population to rebel against the corrupt leaders. For two months the Haxtus, Pritov and the mutants hid within the hive making daring raids against the cult until it became apparent the majority of the hive were secretly worshipping the chaos gods. During this Pritov continued his devotion to him on earth leading the mutant population in prayer. The rebellion was ended when Haxtus got a message for help off world, answered by the Relictor Chapter of Space Marines.
After the rebellion Pritov asked to join Haxtus off world. As he had visions that is was his position to administer to the Inquisitor spiritual guidance. Since the creation of the daemon host Pritov has removed his eyes, ears drums and tongue. This protects him from ever looking upon, speaking with or hearing the daemon’s evil. So Pritov can function and as a compromise he has had bionic implants to replace his natural senses. He believes now more than ever he is needed to protect Inquisitor Haxtus from falling to the will of the dark gods.
Thats all folks...please forgive the bad grammar and sentence structure
Peter

Neil - Thank you. When I started building them I decided that since they are meant to be a warband they should not look uniform. But as you say through colour and bases I've managed to tie them together. The blue is nice and easy - Mix Mordian Blue with Khemri Brown add Commando Khaki for first highlight wash with a Blue wash and then Dev Mud (I cannot remember which way round I did it). Rehighlight with base and then highlight again with more Commando Khaki.
jackanory - I put them in my gallery when I joined and then never posted them for some reason? The fluff was done at the same time as the model building so the whole process from start to end was linked together (and it made a nice break from painting/building etc.) So sometimes the story influenced the modelling and vice versa.
Yggdrasil - In all honesty Brandhof is meant to remind you of Dante from the Inquisitor rulebook
I am so happy with the Inquisitor model. Like all 'Good' Inquisitors he is mean to be creepy IMO not seeing lotr models down here makes this the forum to post on. I think if LOTR was 28 heroic scale I might have got into it....also for some reason as a game lotr just doesn't appeal to me in the slightest, it might have something to do with the story being set.
Right I'm trying out my new second hand camera for the first time. Its a Fujifilm FinePix S9500 (a free gift from Abi's father when he upgraded). Its the first proper camera I've ever used and at the moment I think I prefer the run of the mill cameras with digital zoom rather than having to guess right number of turns on the lense thing (I'm so ignorant). I cannot seem to get the whole thing in focus or it focuses on the wrong bit...ah well practice.
Hierophant Yektor Pritov
Bionics are as follows - Chest Grill is for one to one speech. Loud Speaker grill on back pack is for oratory. Right Servo Skull for sight and left one with microphone for hearing.
Edit - His staff has warped slightly too...dammed figure case.

Yggdrasil - I get it now... I think you should have emphasized the fact he self-gouged his eyes, from here it's hard to guess... Good job on the bionics though!
His bionics are meant to be old and to be different 'ie the compromise' the bionics are only vaguely part of him. He removed his own senses when Haxtus created the Daemon Host which according to my time line, warp travel not withstanding, was eleven years ago. I imagine his injuries would have healed over that time. I like his eye sockets being black holes.....kinda creepy and subtle.
Molotov - No worries. I love inquisitor (not that I play that much ) but have no love 54mm scale...the logistics, costs and limited availability I feel stifles it. With 28mm scale I have a massive box of bits and an unlimited supply of parts so no two models have to have the same legs or torso for example. I've read all the pros and cons from the conclave but at the end of the day reading between the lines I see a bit of elitism. With 28 you may have to be a little more careful with plonking dubious models with dubious weaponry down...but just plonking things down imo defeats one of the objects of Inquisitor...having you own unique warband.
As for the parallels between Adorno and Haxtus...radicalism is always more fun but as we all know it has its dangers. When I wrote his background I wanted him to be flawed/learnt from his mistakes and have a reason for hiding in the unfathomably dark hood, oh and wandering around with a psycannon. He was not possessed just heavily scarred and physically damaged from the experience....someone else in the room was possessed.
A friend and I were talking about how it would be fun to run around burning everything, so I'm contemplating a campaign with a Ultra Hardline Puritan as the bad guy...so to speak. Maybe after the scavvies
Scarper - Thank you. The story is just beginning . Though I imagine like all great radicals it will end on a stake or as the villain himself. Since you enjoyed it meet Haxtus’s nasty bit of hired muscle. He was painted up a while before Haxtus for a bit of fun and only joined the warband when a bit of normal muscle was needed (hence he was not included in the group shot). He is one hard
Bounty Hunter Uli Greystott
Bounty Hunter is a term Greystott uses to describe himself, others describe him as a low life son of a grox but only behind his back. While he was an enforcer he was part of a particularly nasty and corrupt group, who would more than happily look the other way if the price was right or work for the criminals they were meant to be opposing. He retired from his job as an enforcer when it became more lucrative to work directly for the Adamantium Hand cartel, which specialised in smuggling imperial grade weaponry to anyone willing to pay the price. Greystott became a low level enforcer for the cartel, who would often volunteer to pay a visit to those no longer in favour with the management, all the while taking detailed notes to possibly use as blackmail later.
Greystott became embroiled with Haxtus when the Inquisitor needed to arm a chaos cultist group he was cultivating for an uprising (that would be un-ceremonially crushed). After the weapons were delivered Haxtus decided that the Adamantium Hand needed investigating.
Inquisitor Haxtus originally thought the brute Greystott would not be of much use in his enquires but needing a place to start decided to question him. This turned out to be quite fortuitous for all parties involved. Haxtus underestimated the resourcefulness and ruthlessness of Greystott and lost two veteran guardsmen trying to capture him. When the two parties finally sat down and talked, or rather when Haxtus had his Interrogator ‘interview’ Greystott, they reached a bargain. Greystott would help bring down the Adamantium Hand in exchange for further employment and better wages. The Adamantium Hand’s leader turned out to be a Magos of the Cult Mechanicum. During the final engagements on the Forge World of Esteban Haxtus’s Warband were fed vital information by Greystott. It was Greystott’s shotgun that ended the campaign when he placed it on the back of Magos Thargus’ head.
Since then Greystott has been referring to himself as a Bounty Hunter and been in the Inquisitor’s pay. All the while taking detailed notes on Haxtus’s activities for later use. Haxtus has kept his deal with Greystott and employs him as muscle, though he does not trust him, with good cause.
Again forgive my literally challenged attempts at background. But blimey I enjoy it .

I'm ill so cannot go out and play on New Years . I'm also sick of bumming about in bed. So a little photoshoot of something I painted in September that has been gathering dust in GW Preston's cabinet until recently.
Possibly the best miniatures GW have made in recent years imo. It is actually chaotic and the little baby hand holding the key is simply creepy.
Yggdrasil - Cheers. The back pack is from the Necromunda bounty hunter with big hair. I'll take a picture when I have him out again and edit the above post and send you a PM.
Monkeytroll - Thanks - faces are always the most important part of the model, worth the time and effort. The weathering on the armour, in my imagination, is what happens when you use a respirator whilst chewing tobacco... Uli is really not a nice man Everyone one should own a bottle of Vallejo Model Colour Smoke. The best ink for dirty anything.
Anyway Happy New Year all. I'm off to the sofa now. Burrrggghhh

Hey neil101. Respirator gak...nice term I'll have to use that from now on. The sorcerer is cool...shame he was a limited edition for last years games day. Talking of which I will have to get my hands on 2011s Games Day miniature because it is just as nice.
While we are on the subject of limited edition Skaven models. I just couldn't resist any longer and on Christmas Eve, with some money I got for Christmas (well it was a safe bet someone would give me money for Christmas), I bought Warlord Spinetail
He is a little shiny in places in the picture but whatever. I'm not completely happy with the light source effect on the warpstone, I've never done it before over dark areas. Ah well it was fun and made a very nice break from everything else I am doing. Ok Dark Eldar or Tear Bringer Librarian for The Huge Space Marine Chapter Conclave - Dakka Group Project up next.

Sageheart - Thanks... its only 4 or 5 models do it and blog it It might help with the BA's...I always find having a break and painting or building something else helps other projects come along.
Yggdrasil - Abi knocked my confidence with the OSL by saying something along the lines of "why have you slopped green paint over the pretty gold!" I don't think she meant it how it sounded though. I didn't make it to last years games day and yet I still got my hands on the sorcerer model...I'll be doing the same for this years day miniature too. Games Day has never really appealed to me.
bunnygurl - Hey there, cheers. Still not working? If you think Spinetail is cute I'm going to have to worry about you
CMDante - Thanks. Coming from you that is a complement I really appreciate. Just what was wrong with your Kislevite warrior (cute bear btw). As for pushing the highlights I am worried about that. I get models to a nice level and then the thought of another highlight frightens the bejesus out of me. Mainly because in the past I’ve tried it and it hasn’t worked....the fine final lines are too thick etc. But tell you what... on the next metal Fantasy figure I paint I'll ask you for some advice once I've got it to the point I reckon its finished. That is if you don't mind?
Flashman - Glad I could help, Spinetail's back is beautiful. I was considering him for my Scavvy Boss conversion but I think his tail is a lot on the large side. I never really understood the Minotaur hate....they are great models. Over the top muscle wise but blimey isn't that the point.
Thanks for the comments.

After finishing Spinetail I had a break from modelling etc... Abi and I did manage to finish all of the Jonathan Creek box set we got for Christmas, so at least I've not wasted any time . Yesterday when I went to see Season of The Witch (it was 3 out of 5) with my mate Martin he gave me the arm and head from the Raider sprue (cheers mate). So today I did these....
The Warrior's pose is totally ripped off from ~The deeper Well~ by Paz...,my favourite Dark Eldar Blog http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/328364.page (Fracture's is a very close second http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/332664.page)
monkeytroll - Cheers mate
Yggdrasil - Abi very much falls into the girlfriend category. That marine is brilliant...even the bit where you've slopped green paint Seriously nice marine....after this I'm off to investigate more of your gallery

Yggdrasil - The blade attachment is a thin platicard just to change the silhouette of the gun....so I can claim its a shard carbine. I like Abi too... her sister calls her scAbi which makes me laugh (mainly because its true she does seem to have them on her knees quite regularly ).
sum1thtdiesalot - Yes they are trueborn. The Dark Eldar are just a fun little 12 or so model project. When they are complete I may use them as an Esher Gang in Necromunda for a few games. Shard Carbine - Shotgun, Splinter Weapons - Las etc....but I'm jumping ahead I need to paint them first
Calibanite Lion - Cheers. The robes are actually a dark shade of teal. Started off with a base of Vallejo - Dark Sea Blue, Highlight - Base plus Hawk Turquoise x2, Wash with a mix of GW Blue and Green washes, Highlight again. Add a little Ice Blue for the final highlight.
bunnygurl - Ha Ha I knew it Shushy is a cute word btw. lol. I've just had a quick peak at the Beserkers and stuff... but I need to go to work so shall have to comment in your blog in about 9ish or so hours .

Well guys I've not been able to do any painting for the last few weeks...on Doctors orders. He didn't say anything about modelling though , so I have been able to do a bit on a limited basis. Basically modelling doesn't strain my eyes as much as painting. So later this week with a new pair of glasses and the rest, I've given my eyes, I should be able to do some painting again
I though I may as well bung a miniature in too....Ogre Maneater I painted in 2008. I think this could be one of my all time favourite models and worth the £20 it cost me.

Yggdrasil - Cheers. I'm hoping I'll be able to paint again by the end of the week. Depends when my new glasses arrive and how my right eye feels.
sum1thtdiesalot - Arrrrrrrrr
neil101 - Thanks... I think I do The only plus is that I have done a little modelling, so there is now far too much on my to paint pile...1 Archon, 6 Trueborn, Space Marine for Dakka Conclave and a super secret project that I think will get done first and get its own thread.
Perkustin - Credits where credits due, I stole that ladies pose from Paz http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/328364.page. I cannot wait to see them painted too.
Scarper - Thank you. Don't worry about my eye sight or being dismissive. I will be fine I just need to do less things that involve my eyes... like looking As for the recipe for the rust its straight from the ogre kingdoms army book....which I will dig out after work.

Hey Guys,
Yet another update of new models rather than painting what I've got undercoated I've had these chaps done for a while now but I've just begun painting them so thought you might like a quick look-see.
This year and late last year I've been massively inspired by Molotov. His Inq28 thread http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/240062.page" target="_new" rel="nofollow"> http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/240062.page and his blog spot http://inq28.blogspot.com/" target="_new" rel="nofollow"> http://inq28.blogspot.com/. The part that really got me going was his new years resolution http://inq28.blogspot.com/p/my-2011-resolutions.html and after reading it I just had to send him a quick email offering a contribution. Which after a bit of back and forth produced this http://inq28.blogspot.com/2011/02/contributor-pdh.html" target="_new" rel="nofollow"> http://inq28.blogspot.com/2011/02/contributor-pdh.html which made me very happy indeed.
So this is Magos Helixis Spur (who I saw as soon as I laid eyes on Ikit Claw)
This is his Praetorian Battle Servitor 9856-26 (who was a very happy accident and I'm so glad I kept those Space Crusade Dreadnought legs in my bits box for 20 years! ) I don't think I'll be using him in Inquisitor much though...can you imagine a twin linked heavy bolter!
Bunnygurl - Cheers me dear!

sum1thtdiesalot - cheers
neil101 - Oooooooo count me intrigued. Thanks for the compliment.
monkeytroll - Thanking you.
The Good Green - He is cool but I think that might be his thermal cooling system lol. I'm a bit gutted my favourite bit on the whole model is his bionic neck which was pretty much covered with the mandatory hood .
Vitruvian XVII - It is pretty much totally ikit claw. The head is from a Tau Stealth Suit, right arm plastic rod and an Enginseer axe. The backpack is Ikit's and the only additions were the Mechadendrites, shoulder mounted lasgun and the press molded mechanicus symbol. His left arm is untouched because it doesn't get any cooler than that. BTW the left arm is a to put together because the front half is on the body and the back half is part of the backpack! Help yourself to the idea
Bases: In the last three years bases have become quite important to me. They really can add so much more to a model, though I still hate (perhaps an overly strong word) painting them. I have to paint the bases before I paint the rest of the miniature (to the extent I think May's project will be to build and paint all the bases for my Imperial Guard Army (56 small bases, 5 40mm bases, 5 60mm bases) I'll be treating myself too in June... as for my 30th birthday I'm getting an air brush ).
As for what I actually use for the bases: Vallejo Sandy Paste for the dirt areas, plasticard for slabs, plasticard "corrugated metal" design, random bits and pieces from cities of death and tank kits, random plastic tubes and rods. I've not used them yet but I've just bought some 28mm scale resin bricks too.
Cheers

Baiyuan - Magos Spur feels your man love but has eradicated all the weak human emotion from his metal frame and so cannot reciprocate. I wanted to make some joke about mechadendrites but I felt the Mods would snigger but reprimand
I on the other hand do have human emotion (well not according to Abigail, sometimes) and you have really upset me with your hate As for the mining crew's Foreman you might want to consider him anyway....just get rid of the "plasma lightning claw" build him a renegade militia head some how or other and jobs a good un. I'm kinda regretting not getting rid of the lightning claw as its very distinctive, yet too cool. Cheers
weetyskemian44 - Thanking yous. Sucks that you got a con job auction. The last GW thing I bought off ebay (Necro bounty hunter) I am convinced is a fake, so its sitting here unpainted because I'm disappointed with it.
The Space Crusade legs have been a nightmare...lets just say GW's moulding techniques have improve phenomenally. I've actually finished painting the majority of the servitor but the details are different shaped on both legs, the sharp edges are just not that sharp. So far so good the colour scheme I've gone for looks pretty good, though I'm not sure about the hazard stripes up the front of the feet. Oh well I reckon middle of the week for a painty update.
Well in May I'll be posting "one or two" bases.... lets see if I can keep up the style.

Hyenajoe - Haha it took me so long to work out what to do with the legs I thought they'd stay in my bits box for ever. Cheers
Vitruvian XVII - No worries. Yeah totally Ikit's.... bit it will serve nicely as a piece of archeotech: rules (intelligence test every time he wants to use it) Power Fist with built in Plasma Pistol.
neil101 - Morning mate.... for you I'll find them, admittedly not a particularly hard thing to do. For Inq28 I use the Inquisitor Rulebook http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1140164&rootCatGameStyle= which I've had since the day it was released and is such a great book. You can download it for free http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?catId=cat480007a&categoryId=1100009§ion=&aId=4900004 and I assume the pdf version has a few update. That is just the tip of the iceberg plenty of other pdf's from fanatic magazine which are pretty easy to find as a bulk download but start off with the rule book.
For Necromunda I use Necromunda: Community Edition by Anthony Case http://www.anthony-case.me.uk/necromunda which I think is great.
Baiyuan - Ah yeah I've tried blocking the building process from my mind...the third bit that was longer than the hole it was meant to go in, plus the claw that was wider than the gap it was meant to go it! I bet it was a pleasure to put together on the original green. As for what you've doing with the mining boss.... well I'd better go check out your blog.
As for getting Abi to give me a manly hug.... I'll wait until it emerges from the depths of slumber.
medabee - Thank you.
Fury_00011 - Cheers

Evening....Well I've been painting Magos Spur (and the Scavvy Zombie proder) this week and he is coming along nicely. I've noticed a few areas that could have done with a little more filing, when it came to removing skaven symbols, but never mind a few move gs purity seals will sort that out. I didn't get anything done tonight because the bottle of bordeux caret, A History of Violence (hottest scene ever) and Abigail were a much more attractive options (besides a lot of wine and painting will never end well).
Anyway the main point of this post is to show you guys this link... JRN has created a fabulous model.....
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/353742.page#2570895
It is totally Blanchian in concept and made me ever so happy (and a little creeped out) when I found it. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I have.
Now I've drank a bit too much I'm going to bitch a little about Grey Knights. Grey Knights are fantastic but I much preferred them as Imperial Agents or rather Dark Millennium bonus unit. (yes I know I'm living in 2nd ed). Is it wrong of me to think they should only be fighting daemons rather than every other bugger too? I'm also a little upset that my soonish to be started Imperial Guard army will not be allowed allies. Of course I feel totally in my rights to use the Daemon Hunter codex since GW haven't replaced it. The new Inquisition options sound good...its an orangutan (I'm actually excited about the model, shame I'm not allowed to buy new stuff until I've made a dent in what I've got) I just wish Inquisitors along with assassins (that really need new models) were an allied elite choice for all Imperial armies. Anyway enough of my ramblings, goodnight.
Neil - No worries. Both are great games and totally different and both bring totally different modelling opportunities.

Morning Neil....indeed it is a great link which I had to share. I really should have just gone to bed when Abi crashed out. Because this is a family friendly forum.... Well boys and girls drinking is bad for you...it lowers your inhibitions ...and gives you a lovely headache the following morning. So please drink responsibly.....and if you don't, well just ramble on Dakka (but make sure it all goes in the correct forum).
As a teenager I was always confused by my parents getting up early at weekends. Now that I am an adult I have the same problem. It doesn't matter what time I go to bed or how rough I feel. I always wake up between 7 and 7.30 just like a work day. Sucky.
As for my comments about Grey Knights...from what I've read they seem a little over the top. Instant Death force weapons on the whole unit from one psychic test! Ignores daemons instant death rule (on a Ld test)! Now imo this is just wrong....how did Angron manage to kill 100 grey knights before they banished him? Anyway this really is the wrong forum for this debate.

neil101 - I hear what you're saying about art scale. Its something I've not tried yet...but sometime I'd like to do an Iron Warrior and/or a Night Lord....its not happening any time soon though. I'm rather fond of the new models mainly because they look like the old metal models. I'll be buying the codex as soon as it comes out just for the read. At some point further down the line I'll probably buy a box of terminators to use as allies (I'm just going to copy and paste that allies part from the Daemon Hunters book over a picture of something in the Grey Knight book )
Chibi Bodge-Battle - The only thing I'm not keen about on the new models is the move away from fake latin to english. As for the Dread Knight the GW pictures look dreadful. I saw one in the flesh and I quite like it...the pose is important. In fact I think I saw a good one on dakka...hang on let me have look.... http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/353042.page. But I know what you mean though about the hip dislocation. I don't actually have a problem with the Dread Knight (though I think I'd have preferred a power armoured marine in it) because it means that any new plastic greater daemons will be huge.
Baiyuan - Exactly how I feel about the Grey Knights going against everything. The old 2nd Ed Imperium/Inquisition would have just sent a few million more guard that waste a Grey Knight on Orks. As for the price of space marines it is getting ridiculous. 5 Grey Knight Models for £20.50 is bad when you can get 10 Tactical Marines for £23. I know there is a difference in detail and extra bits but still. As for being old...I can cope with that and it's my aim to attract old farts to this thread....I shall use Neil and Chibi and monkeytroll as good examples
Northen - Cheers...the =I= stuff is my favourite too. I'm hoping that my friend Martin and I will both have finished warbands, including background, by Easterish (I'll try and get him to post too). Magos Spur is coming along nicely now, I got a bit of painters block. I had to take a step back and concentrate on certain parts. I'm looking forward to finishing him so I can start on modelling his Skitarri and female ganger (I felt he would need un-augmented follower to go where he cannot).

Neil (and Chibi and monkeytroll) my apologies...but lets be fair its true Oh and it does serve you right.
Baiyuan - Thanks about the unaugmented member comment. She is a conversion I've had in mind for years from an Escher model. The problem I faced is a distinct lack of female arms...Thank you GW for the wyches
Baiyuan and Vitruvian XVII - Ok, I misspelt it in my above post because I was going to write his actual rank, then changed my mind. Skitarii would have been the correct spelling. To be precise his actual rank and name is Skitarius Hyspasist Praetorian Evars Secgharf. A quick break down of his rank Skitarius (singular of Skitarii) Hyspasist(Infantry) Preatorian (Elite). He is not going to be a major conversion just some alterations to a Vostroyan (like ditching the fur hat), seemed like the perfect choice since they have close ties to the Mechanicus. But no touchy until I have finished Magos Spur. Which is really what I should be doing now (along with the washing up).
