That happens as you get better at the hobby. Ive done that to my Orks. My nobs, bosses are looking great. The problem is, I did the boyz so fast (they dont look like crap but they are showing anyways) that they now stick out as a bit of a sore thumb to me. Maybe I can get away with just touching them up some to look not so....rushed?

The worst is when I just finished painting an ork scratch build, it looks nice but then I decide it needs something more, so I add a piece and another and another, until the new pieces cover up the paint jo

Consistently.

I am in a continual process of painting and stripping models as I improve.

There are currently I think maybe at most 30 models in my cabinet (out of 200+) that I am a actually happy with. The rest are in various stages of painting or are being stripped.

Live and learn is what it comes down to. Although I have kept a couple of models from when I first started at 14 for nostalgia's sake and to see how much I have improved.

Stripping all my nids down at the moment. Got sick of hive fleet leviathan and it basic put me of 40k for a bit.

I just need something good to strip my multiuple carnifex

I'm waiting in hope thet sisters will soon be released.

The sink.

My biggest offenders are my vehicles. I consistently mess up whenever I put tracks on something (except for the land raider, that was easy). So my rhinos and predator need new tracks.

Then there's my defiler I assembled with plastic glue, then broke apart to reconfigure. I don't recommend that. Did the same thing with my plastic termies, too.

Yeah I agree, this is always a good sign; it means your hobby/painting sensibilities are developing. I think this is the defining aspect of the hobby for me; repainting each army in turn (it's like going on a holiday from yourself!), and each time you learn new skills and your standards and abilities raise. Inevitably making you want to repaint another army or squad: stripping and repainting, stripping and repainting (until you lose enough detail to pass off a necron warrior as a nurgling).

I wish I painted enough that I could look back and go "man, I've done so much painting since I did those that my skills are greater and now I need to re-do those guys"

I hope you're not stripping those old ones. They are a great monument to how much better you (hopefully) have become.

I rarely ever feel good about my work, but it's my curse as an artist, I suppose.

I always look back and think, "I could have done this a little different" or "I should have spent a little more time here". I think my worst habit is only looking at the mistakes that would otherwise go unnoticed.

I look back at some of mine and reach for the Simple Green. I bought that mini and I want it to look good, even if I have to paint it twice! Besides, some of them I painted in middle school!

Heh. I just stripped some guys I painted in 4th grade (older brother's at the time). I debated not doing it, but in the end, I decided a good looking army beat out nostalgia. I do have a model done by my little brother when he was in middle school that I don't think I'll ever strip, though.

The worse for me is noticing, after I've finished a model, that I've screwed up in some way taking it off the sprue. Some of my finished Hormagaunts have chunks where the sprue was attached. I want to clip them off, but I probably won't get the purple looking the same in those patches.

Or my Salamanders, where I hurriedly took them off their sprue and pulled bits out of the model, so they have holes in the tops of their heads. I SO want to strip them and use green stuff to fill the holes in.

Over the years I have had my space marines, I have stripped the entire army three times. The more I paint the better I get, so instead of just buying more models I repaint the ones I have.

All the time.

I only started Ferbruary '10, and while I was happy with how my first few models came out it's now time to go back and touch up.

My first model, my Ork Warboss, I may just leave for sentimental reason, I have another two to paint up anyway. Same goes for my first Trukk. It bugs me that my Red Paint Job turned out orange. I touched up the paint last night any was very tempted to repaint it totally, but I stopped myself thnking, 'No, that was my fist vehicle, let it be.' Besides, I have another Trukk to build (although I have it in my mind to paint it blue for some reason?)

Apologies for talking positively about games I enjoy.

Nope.

My standards are set at 'reasonable'.

If it looks ok at 3 feet, it's a doer.

I couldn't care less if it would qualify for GD or not. I have no interest in that level of competition (and I don't have the eyesight to bother starting).
