Subject: Want to paint purple but don't like Liche Purple... any suggestions?

Does anyone have some suggestions for an alternative purple paint for an old school Dark Eldar army? Liche purple is too... bleh, Warlock Purple is too red... Looking for a nice royal purple but haven't had much luck finding anything. Closest thing I have is an opaque purple for my airbrush, but I'd still need another purple for highlighting.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

No one seems to use them but me, but they are damn good paints! There is a company in Liverpool called Gamecraft who do two purples you should look at. They just call their range 'Miniature paints'. The only other places that sell them are Leisure games of London. Tip; Buy a jar of their Old Gold, this is one of the best golds I've ever used and drybrushes brilliantly. Hope this helps,

I dunno, Liche purple could really easily just be named Royal Purple. So not sure what you are looking for.

A different range of paints would seem like what your looking for, or you could always mix your own.
For alternate ranges of paints, I would recommend either Reaper Master Series or any of the Valejo lines.

I'm pretty sure Vallejo "Royal Purple" is what you're looking for.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I tried Vallejo's Hexed Lichen which I guess would be a fairly close match to Citadel's Liche Purple and agree with it being "bleh". I then got Vallejo's Game Color Royal Purple and it is a nice deep purple and I am really happy with it but I am having a tough time finding a good mix to highlight with. I tried 3:1 Royal Purple and White but it just wasn't quite what I wanted.
I did some more research on other paint brands and Reaper seems to be what we are looking for with their paint trios which offer a base coat color, highlight color and extreme highlight color. They offer a few different ranges of purples. Take a look at Nightshade Purple->Imperial Purple->Amethyst Purple. They also offer Regal Purple->Monarch Purple->Royal Purple which ends up with a more reddish purple highlight then the lavenderish highlight of Amethyst Purple.
Unfortunately I can't say how the paints are because I haven't bought any yet. Hope this helps!
