Hey guys. We all know that people like to make their army's different by tweaking the rules a little bit. My question is, what is the most weird/crazy/hilarious rule that you have ever come across?
To start it off, I was in a FLGS in Oadby, England. There was a guy with a SM army there playing a game, as I watched he started replacing marines with small blast templates
When I asked what he was doing, he said his marines had a "curse" and that when they rolled a 1 for shoting a regular bolter, the marine would ignite in a ball of super hot fire! Beat that rule if you can!
(I don't know where this thread belongs, so I just put it into dicussions to see where the conversation took it)

I think they were a custom chapter. I don't know what he called them (I bet it was a cool sounding name!). Lets just hope his chapter master did not ignite when he stepped onto the battlefield! Funny because there was an actual Chapter of marines that does this. Not much is known about them except that they were hunted down by the Inquisition because of it. Flame Falcons Only problem is no offical colour scheme or icon. Google brings some nice looking stuff though.

The strangest rule i ever played with was when my friends and I decided you can assault as far as your gun can shoot.
My lascannon teams owned all on that day.

Played a boy once who had his vSM commander have a 2+ ward save that counted as nullifying all shots/attacks equal to or under S4 and AP4 or higher. That was alright...if he didn't make him cost an extra 200 points and have him half his movement due to the extra heavy Terminator army he was wearing. So I Dark lance spammed him killed him by the end of my 2nd turn.

I do recall someone trying to justify how their landspeeder could carry a dred underneath it. The argument lasted until I told him he could use it if it floated in a bowl of water. Unsurprisingly it sank like a... well, like a dred strapped to a land speeder.

I played a Daemons player who completely either 1) misunderstood or 2) didn't like and decided to create some or 3) is from the future and is playing 12th Edition...
"Right, I've given my Bloodletters Mark of Nurgle...."
"My Plague Marines have got jump packs..."
"My Juggernaught gets S8 on the charge: +1 for being Khorne, +1 for charging, +1 for having two weapons and +1 for Mark of Khorne."
Equally befuddling was the time a Chaos Marine player went...
"Right, my Squad have Frag Grenades..." then reached for the small blast template and a scatter dice. What the actual feth? He had been playing them like 6" range frag missiles. When I asked him politely where he'd pulled that one from he said 'the rulebook..."
Epic.

Never played against this one but my mate has. Guy says his commander has 2+ save, x amount of wounds, no instant death, crazy attacks. Can't remember exactly was some time ago. However thats not the improtant part. My mate then makes his commander go splat, so the guy says that when his commander dies hes teleported stright to the flagship in orbit is then inplanted into a dreadnaught, instantly comes back down to the battle with that same stats, but at a dreads strength, plus floating square lumps of armour that mean 80% shots dont get thru(so somthing like sixes to hit) then need to get past void sheild type protection, then glance or pen higher than normal dread armour, and even then it was re-roll damage. This guy also puts match sticks around the terrian, and if you slightly move the sticks (by mistake) he'll stop the game and place it back exactly where it was, like it makes any difference. Even if it was terrian thats not being used by models, also this is movemnt by mere millimeters. He's also a "beat the noob at all costs" type of player. My stares at him an goes, "ermm, yeah I dont think so somehow". If my memory is correct I belive my mates next turn he fires everthing at it and destroys him. That might just be my mind wanting it to die, it was some time ago. I did lol in disbelief when I heard that.

I hate hard counters. In a game of rock, paper, scissors, I hate playing any of the factions because no matter what you choose you might as well not deploy against your hard counter. I want to use a gun. Rock, paper, and scissors could all probably still beat gun, but gun will never feel like a game is a lost cause. |

If memory serves correctly it worked something along the lines of:
Movement phase:
Pick a model within 6 inches of the Warboss that isn't mounted on a bigger base than the warboss itself
Choose the direction you wish to throw the model. Then roll between 2-5 D6 add the dice rols together and throw the model that many inches. (Done so the model could be thrown towards units near or far with 'reasonable accuracy' as far as Orks go)
Roll 1D6 after the model lands:
1: The model doesn't survive its flight
2-5: The model does survive its flight, may not shoot or assault this turn
6: The model somehow arrives safely and may assault and/or shoot this turn
On the off chance it actually reached the unit and would land in it the model is instead placed in base to base contact and counts as having assaulted-which means the unit can't be shot at due to it now being in assault
If it hits a building, well, its left a splat mark on the wall...
Or something along those lines. My memory forgets exactly how it was done

Any tank that had ANYTHING that looked remotely like a weapon could make one S10 AP1 Attack on a 4+ at anything in CC.
I could place down terrain whenever i felt like it.
All Buildings were toughness 8!
all Tanks and Walkers were Nuclear Powered doing a D6" S10 AP1 Explosion. If A Model Survived, it added +4 attacks, Made it Toughness 10, but gave it only 1 wound! and if it Died. it did D3" S10 AP1 Explosion.... We figured we had to make it make a LITTLE bit of sense ;-)

We are working for rules for the Megarmor warboss on a warbike. Not sure it's great custom rules, but it so far is amusing the piss out of me. He rolls 2d6 every time he moves, and if he rolls a 1, he moves the total shown on the dice instead of 12", and can't run that turn (he fell off!). If he rolls snake eyes, the bike explodes in a S5 AP- Large Blast (it broke). He also can't turbo boost.
