The general consensus is that the tactical is a better buy. I mostly agree.

Ws and BS 3 hurt their effectiveness. Worse yet, they can't take a dedicated transport. If I could take 5 scouts in a razorback, I would.

Customers ask me what army I play in 40k. Wrong Question. The only army I've never played is orks.

Knowing is half the battle. But it is only half. Execution...application...performance...now that is the other half.

A Scout unit with Telion and a ML is great for popping transports while sitting on an objective. Otherwise underwhelming. Sniper scouts pinning would work if they are deployed in huge numbers, say, 40. But having 40 scouts, you can other things that might have of more use: things that can pop other vehicles and can also rain terror upon infantry.

Violence is not the answer, but it's always a good guess.

Scouts are pretty alright. I've had much better luck with sniper scouts then any other weapons but even then my luck hasn't been THAT great with them. There are some cool things you can do with them but I still feel like the points could be better spent.

Nifty little critters. I liked their models/idea enough that I am making a majority scout army: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/316987.page

I expect many defeats with that one.
