Hey guys, I'm having some iPod troubles. I have an iPod touch, witch around 16gigs of music and audiobooks, and recently I had to have my computer completely overhauled. I re-downloaded iTunes on my new computer, and tryed to sync my iPod to download all my songs onto my computer. But it wont work. All my songs are still on my iPod but none of them will download onto my computer. I think it has to do with the fact that my iPod has my old computer set as its "Home" or "base." I tried contacting the iTunes online support, but you have to have a current insurenece/ warrenty for them to even answer any questions.

I really need some help, so if anyone else has had this problem, or anyone is really iPod savy, can you give me some tips or help?

I miss the good old days when a man would build a skyscraper with his bare hands just so you would stop hitting him with a shovel.

You can't move songs from the Ipod to the computer. It only works the other way around. Otherwise everyone would just trade IPods and have every song in history in two weeks.

If you deleted all your music and you didn't have any of it backed up or tied into ITunes or something then you're gonna have to jailbreak the Pod or get some outside programs to rip off of it.

Do you remember that time that thing happened?
This is a bad thread and you should all feel bad

Actually Shuma you can. Not sure of the newer ones but they usually store the music on them in a hidden folder with some annoying naming convention. As the touch can't be set to work like a hard disk it can't do this. Also I don't have an iPod Touch so don't know how to do it either.

Connect your ipod as usual then go into Windows Explorer - make sure you have 'show hidden files and folders' turned on. Browse to your ipod as if it were a normal removable disk. You will see a hidden folder called ipod control and within that a folder called music, which is where all the music is, funnily enough. You will note all the files and folders are encrypted in a sort of alpha numeric nonsense but that is just ipod's way of arranging them. Copy them off your ipod then within itunes, go to add folder and add them in (itunes automatically unscrambles them)

Et voila!

If you have an ipod that can't be set to work as a disk then you can download an app called igadget or something similar that will do it.

Filbert got to it first, if your Itunes automatically syncs then you might have a problem. But its preventable before Itunes can open up then open your Ipod and sync it open up taskmanager and end the process Itunes helper then the Ipod will just appear as a disk drive then you can access it and what not.

MediaMonkey (I think) will also allow you to copy musics.

And yeah, Apple doesn't like people copying from the iPod. Kinda idiotic... go figure.
