Are the Imperial Guard Heavy Weapon teams mounted on the same base size as Dreadnoughts?

How upset would the world be if I used 50mm bases instead for some non-GW figs that I am building into a Guard army?

That's an interesting question. I think you'd have to talk it over with the people and tournament organizers with whom you actually play.

The guys I regularly play with really don't care and I'm not a tourney guy (as I am doing this with non-GW figs.) I was just wondering if there was a general consensus out there along the lines of "10mm is no problem" or "crucify the Heretic!" with a slightly stronger expectation of the latter.

If you can use a smaller base, go for it; as long as the miniature fits on it it shouldn't be a problem.

I don't think a lot of people would notice. Even less would care. My Valhallans have no bases. They don't need no steenking bases. They're Valhallans!

I still have squads where the HWT is on two separate bases, people don't seem to mind.
