Hey Guys,
after thinking forth and back about how to deal with the ogryns in my IG army I decided to go the mec way and build a "soldier in an exo suit" type of model.
They also would fit nice to my (still to be build) Rough Rides on Bikes

Some of the AT43 Robots/Suits look pretty nice, I even consider to work with the new GW Orks Killer Kans.
Any other Ideas or suggestions

There is someone here who made exo-suits for their guard/SM scouts (I seem to recall) out of plasticard rods - looked pretty cool. Kind of like the power walker suits in Alien.

I can't believe the stuff you had me look at as options. I WILL NOT allow you to use the AT-43 Gorillas!

The minis leontheconfused postet look pretty cool though.

If I'd use the Gorills I would of course remove the Heads an dreplace them with standart IG helmets.

I used APE suits as my Ogryns - more images in my Gallery.

the ape suits are the best of the stuff that is currently around. the game "warzone" had some intersting type mechs for the german and (to a lesser extent) american corporation armies (bauhaus and capitol) that you may want to look at. i can't remember the model names since its been more than a few years but here's a pic with it on the left (along with the suit from starship troopers on the right as another idea). the seem a bit armored for just a 5+ save but they have the bulk.

while 28mm doesn't necessarily guarantee anything, it would suggest that a standard 40k fig (heroic 28mm scale) should be about halfway up the model. i'd say they're closer to dread size as a guess than an ogryn.

I'm still on the fence about those guys Max.

Anyway, I think I will go with the ape Suits, Base Size is 40mm wich makes the height to about 50mm.
Ogryns are 55mm so thats quite ok

I looked into this a while back and decided that if I ever get around to fielding Ogryns they would be based on the Pig Iron war droids. The scale is about right.
