Finland... the country next to Sweden? No! That's Norway! Finland is to the east! No! That's Russia!

I made up this character (no name...yet) and I made up this special rule for him called:

Honour: every time he wins a close combat with more than 1 throw a d6 on a 2+ he gets an extra attack for the rest of the game however if he loses close combat he commits suicide, put small blast template on character s5 ap6 and remove him from play.

any good?

Sweet Jesus, Nurgle and Slaanesh in the same box!?
No, just Nurgle and Slaanesh, Jesus will be sold seperately in a blister.

Not 'good' per say, but fun.

If he was in the codex, no-one would choose him in a competitive environment. For a game however he'd be good fun! Make the AP for the template a bit higher though, eh? Or make it Strength 10. Or Large Blast.

OK, so I like the idea of implosion, what you gonna do?

I would love to know why he explodes on death. Seems pretty kickass to me.

why would an hourable person commit suicide for losing in combat? even the samurai would wait till AFTER the battle.

make it something like this

if he loses combat he counts as dead even if he survives the battle (this would give up a kill point or an objective or VP's)

Whoa! As right as you are about the honourable bit, the lack of explosive suicide just takes the fun out of it. To me a bigger explosion is better, not a complete lack of explosion. Just change the wording, keep the 'sploding.

If he's too honor driven to flee while losing, why not just make him always removed during a sweeping advance?

Perhaps give him an extra round of attacks after losing (if he is alive) to show him fighting as they drag him down?

It needs a better name:

Incendiary Honour
Disappointment of the Blood God
Fail-Safe
"If I Cannot Win, All Others Must Lose"

You know, something like that.

What would be cool is if it was like this:

Honour: Every time this model participates in a combat and is on the winning side, roll a d6. On a 2+ this model gets an extra attack. When this model is on the losing side of a combat and fails a LD test and would fall back, instead this model makes all of its attacks again at the enemy unit and is then removed from the game.

This would represent him being 'dragged down but still fighting'. Pretty brutal.

The second clause is good, but the first makes no sense (i.e. you've already figured out who's won the combat, but now there are extra attacks?). I'd change so that enemies that lose a combat against the character and do not fall back suffer extra wounds as if they were fearless.

I like the explosion idea better I can imagine the character being a bit of a sulky child who takes a beating and then goes crazy, frothing at the mouth pulls out a meltabomb and yell feth you bozos before detonating it.

Eh... the extra attacks don't belong to the same close combat phase its if he has 3 attacks it goes up to 4 attacks for the next CC phase

Except it would have to be one heck of a meltabomb to catch anyone other than him in the burst. Those things are highly localized explosives.

Hell, I don't care how. Maybe a fail-safe switch should he become too wounded (akin to Tau Battlesuit), so long as he can explode, I am happy.

That just gave me an idea...let's put suicide bombers in armies!

IG used to get them. So in that case it would be putting them back in the army.

I would be shocked if orks didn't already have something similar

Ok good, I'd be worried the codex didn't actually, just seems very orky

Ever read the "demolition charge" rules? It's a large blast with a 6" range. You do the mathhammer.

That's not quite as fun as the old 'living bombs' where the commissars could detonate them remotely and the like.

I get your point though, personally I've never had them hit my own veterans, but I did see Marbo smoke himself nicely with one.

This is the best rule posted on this thread so far. It gives the character a useable niche/gimick whilst not making him OP.

Sounds a wee bit like Lukas the Trickster. Not AT ALL accusing this of being a copy, as it is obviously unique in many ways, just saying it has some similarities to his ability

Somewhat unrelated, this post gave me the idea for some army to a have a "kamakaze" unit which runs into the enemy and if it is a combat then at initiative 10 it explodes killing itself with the large blast marker maybe something like s:6 ap:5
