Aren't the dates wrong in warhammer 40k?
Because it is in 40 000 but they call it the 41st milenia and the 41st milenia is year 4000 and not 40 000 it should be the 401st milenia

Okay, quick primer, and someone please correct where I get this wrong, but the date of the 20th century was 1,900-1,999. The 21st will be 2,000-2,099, and be in third millennium, or somewhere in 2,000-2,999.

Similarly, if we take thousands instead of hundreds, we have 40,000, which is forty thousand years. So if 2.000 is the beginning of the third millennium, then 40,000 is the beginning of the forty-first.

I think this may have something to do with the way things are dated in English, because the period (.) is used to denote fractions, while the comma (,) is used to denote magnitudes. For example, and I may be getting this wrong, 40.000,00 would be the French version.

The year 2010-21st century.
A century is 100 years.
Add 38000 (give or take) years
Then you have the 4100th century.(i think)


A milenium is 1000 years.
We are in the third milenium.
Add 38 milenia and you get the 41st melinium.
