So, I was thinking about making a Space Wolf Terminator Army. Now obviously I will need Grimnar. But what else do you think I would need to make this army work for a 2000 point game?
Also, I've become obsessed with the idea of modeling Thunderwolves.... how sane would it be, tactically, to make an army with as many thunder wolves as possible?

I have received a lot of criticisms on my list and a few helpful idea. At 1500 I run 7 to 9 thunderwolves... I am posting from my phone so can't direct link to my list, but you can click on my name and look for my 1500 list under my subscribed threads. Hmmm. Wolf guard termi army of doom? Sounds like an overabundance of wolf claws and land raiders. That's the way I would run it anyway. Automatically Appended Next Post: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/325785.page
Finally got onto the computer, here is my 1500 thunderwolf list.

im currently building a 2000 point thundercav army that has 15 thundercav, wolf lord on thunderwolf mount, iron priest on mount and canis, so 18 thunderwolves and then 20 fenrisian wolves as 2 troop choices, 4 drop pod 5man squads and 2 scout squads. it should be great fun.

You may have a problem with any objetives matches.
Though you can always fall back on the old 'kill everything' and with 15 TWC that is definatly an option.

To answer your 1st question.... I think you should drop the terminator element for a couple of reasons.
1. if you do you wont have to take grimnar, who is ungodly expensive in an army that will have low model count anyway.
2. thunderwolves do the same job as terminators but have better mobility. they will reliably be in close combat by turn 2, whereas drop pod terminators (I assume you dont plan on making them walk) will sometimes be in close combat by turn 2, sometimes not until turn 3 or 4, sometimes not at all vs. more mobile armies. once the terminators deep strike they're out of mobility options. faster opponents like eldar can just float away and not have to worry about fighting the terminators at all. thunderwolf cavalry, however, are almost impossible to get away from if you spread them out.
my thunderwolf/hunter army would look something like this: 2 wolf lords with storm shield frost blade and thunderwolf, one with saga of the bear the other with saga of the warrior born. rune priest. 3 azorbacks with heavy flamers filled with grey hunters + wolf guard carrying a pair of meltaguns, the rest thunderwolves tricked out so that each guy has different war gear as much as possible. Maybe some land speeders if tanks start giving you a problem.
To answer your 2nd question.... it is very sane tactically. thunderwolves are fething good. AF
