So, I got a box of lootas today to fill out my squad. My technique is ironclad and unwavering:

1.) wash the sprues in warm soapy water
2.) rinse
3.) dry
4.) snip them from the sprue and clump together individual models into piles. Assign each pile it's own small baggie
5.) File mold lines (usually at work, while saying i-p-c-o-n-f-i-g over and over again to people with a shaky grasp of english and substantially less mastery of a keyboard)
6.) Glue sub components
7.) Prime black
8.) Start painting
9.) Abandon them either primed or partially painted for 6 to 18 months
10.) look wistfully at the pile of semi-assembled, primed plastic stuff

So, I was up to step 4. I was snipping my boyz (not a euphemism) and was up to the Mekboy. As I've studied the Ork Tactica countless times, I know the ideal configuration for lootas is all Deffguns. As I only have 8 Loota models and 2 Mekboy models, I know a less optimal but still decent configuration would be 8 deffguns and 2 Mekboys with rokkits or Big Shootas. No configuration should include Kustom Mega-Blastas, which have nearly as good a chance of killing the Mekboy as it does anyone else.

And, I discovered this!

There is no left arm for use with either the included Big Shoota or Rokkit Launcha. There is a right arm which fits the KMB. Perhaps I just missed it, you say. Maybe it even fell off when they were putting it in the box. However, I checked the 40k Sprue Library and neither of those thigns happened. There is no left arm.

Clearly, GWS wants you to equip the KMB. Clearly, they want Orks to fail gets-hot rules and die. Incontrovertible evidence GWS hates Orks.

Agreed. You should quit the game and send all your (unassembled) models to me.

It's one of the weirder kit problems in recent years. It's just missing parts, like how there's no other Lightning Claw in the Marine Commander box.

Very odd.

I had some arms left over from my boxes of boys.

What I recommend is you buy 2x boxes of lootas, and 1x box of boys. With this I made 10x Lootas and 10x Burnas. I used a big shoota and a shoota to make another deffgun and a Rokkit to make another burna. It is a weird kit though....

Now lets just think about this logically for a second.

What does GW have to gain by hating orks and purposely leaving out a left arm?

Yes that's right, nothing...

Why its missing? I don't know, GW does have it's problems but they are not making a conscious effort to screw you out of left arms.

Besides if you can't find another arm and make it work then you might have problems.

Obviously, The Cosmic Power is being facetious. What you should do is send your models to GW, and ask for a refund.

For your convenience, I have included GW's address:

Samael Zagdakka
PO Box 6612,
Ithaca, NY, 92244

This way, GW will know that you are dissatisfied with them and will respond by sending you a proper box with enough left arms to create the optimal unit. Trust me. This has worked for me every time.

I do too, so no problem. I just thought it was interesting because usually GWS restricts themselves to incomplete rules. This is the first kit I have personally encountered with a missing part.

I knew someone would find a way to twist logic and defend GWS. Thank you for taking "Games Workshop sells an incomplete model kit for a full, premium price" and making it my fault. /golfclap

I was being facetious about GWS hating Orks.

We all know they actually hate Tau.

This is how GW forces you to buy more orks.
I had casually overlooked this botched sprue as i had already gotten boatloads of boyz and such and i had already segragated my bitz.
GW has secretly screwed me, and now i feel violated ;-;

You wash the sprues? Why? Oh well, it's just as well that they sit on the shelf, after all, Lootas are perhaps one of the most worthless units in the Orks Codex.

I really didn't mean to come on so strong, or defend GW really, they made a mistake, meh.

I'm really more of a figure out the solution guy, the solution is stop bitching and stick an arm on there, again not to be super strong but sometimes I just am.

Washing confuses me too, why? may I ask.

They take primer better after a wash, removes any grease on the plastic.

The big shoota isn't too bad - you can just give him a choppa left arm or use a shoota-supporting left arm and a bit of spare linked ammo.

The rokkit has a left hand moulded on it though!

Iflalna touched on this, but it's worth mentioning that it's even more important to wash your models if they are cast in resin (like Forge World) - the molds are sprayed with mold release which lengthens the life of the molds. This residue is left on the parts, and causes poor or no bonding - paint may appear to adhere properly, but you can easily rub it off with a thumb.

I just used the big shoota and a left arm holding a slugga out alongside the big shoota. He hasn't collected as many shooty bitz as his mates yet, so he shoots his trusty slugga also to add MOAR DAKKA.

Weird, do you just paint chaos black on there with a brush for your primer? I have noticed that if I try to apply paint directly to the model with a brush is can sorta run off from spots, never thought of washing. I just spray em' with fairly cheap black pray paint so I have never had to think about washing them, oh well, it just seemed odd to me at first.

I typically prime with cheap black spray paint as well. Valspar or something like that. I have an airbrush but the enamel seems to usually stick better.

Sorry if I am missing something but
surely one ought not to have to resort to the bitz box.
Should there not be sufficient parts supplied in the kit?

You mean right lightning claw? Because there is definitely a lightning claw in the space marine commander box set, I have him equipped with one myself?
