Has anyone tried the Hordes Circle of Orboros Wolf Solo or the Argus minis for their Thunderwolf cavalry? If so, how does the size compare, I want to avoid having the Marine riding a wolf that is too small.
I've seen the pictures of conversions done of the Bloodcrushers, but I've never been very good at sculpting. Has anyone just used the naked Bloodcrushers with a marine and if so, is that generally accepted at tourneys as a legitimate piece?
Does anyone else have another suggestion that would work well (without a lot of sculpting greenstuff changes or needing to spend alot of money - I saw that website that was charging $20 a wolf, and I'd consider that too much)?

Finland... the country next to Sweden? No! That's Norway! Finland is to the east! No! That's Russia!

If you have $ then buy loads of Canis Wolfborns and sculpt them (does'nt need a lot of skill).

Sweet Jesus, Nurgle and Slaanesh in the same box!?

Dear god don't buy a bunch of Canis Wolfborns to do this. You'll get duplicates of a really goofy looking model, all metal, and hard to work with. I like my Canis though. Try the Scibor wolves, I've seen them used to good effect.

I think the OP is worried about tournament legality.

The New Miss Macross!

i personally used the d&d minis direwolves as my thunderwolves but they're obviously from a competing company so may not be allowed at a tourney. there is a philipine company that sells really awesome looking thunderwolves but they had some problems with cheating people on ebay and were booted off; they're under new direction now but be forewarned since their shipping estimate is dangerously close to the paypal limit for filing a complaint. mrs-velard sells some wolves on ebay under a wierd anime name (space wolf thunder storm or something equally ridiculous) and people don't really complain about him/her cheating bidders out of their money on her own original sculpts. unfortunately, you're limited to the canis wolf models or converted bloodcrushers if you want to be 100% sure of tourney eligibility/acceptance. most tourney organizers will realize that there is no official model and allow other companies' wolves as substitutes but that's no guarantee by any means. Automatically Appended Next Post: lol... speaking of the filipino dealer!! i didn't know they had ninjas!

Aye, have seen more than a few of these and they actually look decent. Very annoying when folks are lazy and leave the hooves though. Nice armored legs on em. Would need to put SM bitz on in place of the chaosy stuff, but thats easy.

Although there isn't a model for thunderwolf cavalry the whole 50% GW thing does bother me. I picked up some mythicast.com thunderwolves. My thread for them is here
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/325696.page
They did get my order wrong and their communication happend to really degrade once I had an issue. The only thing that I can say for them is the models are nice when done, and any TO that would try to tell me I can't play a game with my beautiful models well that tourney isn't worth my time! Sure it's not 50% GW product.... (not volume, but I did make every effort and I would hope that is appreciated). The mythicast.com wolves do require a lot of cleaning, although I hear that mine were worse than a few others, with the resin bubbles and quality of the sculpt on the little fenrisians. I hate to say this but it makes me appreciate GW's artists skill at creating good molds. eww I said something positive about GW prepare the noose! Anyway, I am relatively happy with the mythicast.com wolves that I received. tourney legal? depends on the douche level of the people involved.... but strictly as a counts as requirement and 100% GW a marine on a bloodcrusher is legal.

I went to check out Mythicast's website and they do look very nice and at just under $15 a piece (including shipping), they aren't too pricey. I am a bit uncomfortable about ordering online from an unknown, but I may try it - it's certainly cheaper and less time consuming than buying bloodcrushers and attempting to convert them.
