Hi all, I'm working on subverting Astorath the Grim to the side of Chaos, and I'm wanting to switch out his trailing scrolls with chains, but am having a hard time finding pewter chains to do this with. I know of plenty of places to get regular chain from, but I need pewter so that it'll keep the shape I want it (roughly the same shape that the scrollwork is currently in.) Anyone know of a site that I can find this?

.....?

Edit: I've looked at the model....and I'm not seeing how I'd be able to use the chains on it for the application I'm looking for. Does anyone know where I can find just pewter chains?

Well I also use cheap dollar store jewelery chain. It looks about right for GW conversions.

I don't know if you'll have much luck searching for free-floating cast "chain" sections. What you can do, though, is take that thin jewelry chain that has been mentioned and use CA glue to lock each link in place, creating any flowing shape you want. It will be brittle, yes, but any long, thin, pinned on cast additions will be equally flimsy. At least this gives you control of the shape and guarantees it looks like a chain (because it is).

Not exactly pewter, but close enough. Hope they're long enough for your needs.

Exactly what I needed, thanks Zef!

@Foxtale That's a cool tut, and one I'll definitely try out on my tanks when I need chain, thanks!

You can find a plethora of chains in just about any CSM plastic kit.

No problem! I spend enough time trawling for parts for my own conversion ideas, I figure I may as well share the knowledge. I just hope they're poseable enough for your needs. I don't have any experience with them, just know of them. Your idea sounds pretty awesome though, make sure you post it once you're finished!

They are fairly poseable before I got into GW all I collected was reaper mini just to paint and create a scenic set. They are pewter to my knowledge, at least some packages say pewter, the 65 series is made of lead and tin. Good luck

Orks 3500, Space Marines 1300, Jeep running like it should 0, Keeping your off road vehicle running like it should sucks, for everything else in life there's 40K.
