Three people over at WargamerAU attended the event and confirmed that it is indeed the resurrection of Australian Games Days, the first one taking place 1st October 2011.

Right on the same w/e as one of the largest 3 day tournaments for 40K and Fantasy in Oz (MOAB) - great move there guys!

Wow, a games day? I guess Australia is finally popular enough to warrant one. Or they've discovered the significant number of imports of "Miniature Figures" coming into Australia from America and Britain.

I don't know whether to be thrilled or disappointed at the news. Still, might be fun to go to. I've never been to a games day before.

Maybe they'll have a big announcement at the next Games Day to tell us that they're reducing the prices by 50% to bring them in line with the rest of the world.

We were popular enough to warrant one for quite a few years. They canned it due to it being too much work for too little visible return, and replaced it with the in-store format Golden Daemon... which was met with a fairly resounding 'meh'...

I'm cautiously optimistic. And curious to see if this time around they follow the format that seems to be the norm overseas, and include tournaments in the mix rather than just filling the hall up with mass-participation games.

Although I think there are a few other things that need to be addressed as well. Such as the fact that the October positioning of it always seemed to result in getting the short stick when it came to 'previews' on the studio stand... we rarely saw anything that hadn't already been shown all over the rest of the world. And the lack of any sort of discount on the retail area meaning that there was really no point in buying stuff on the day... might as well avoid having to lug everything back home with you if there is no benefit to buying there and then.

And, of course, there's the same old location issue if they're having another go at the single, Sydney event...

Feth NO! Looks like GW are going to screw the MOAB tournament like it did my club's a few years ago . After organising with them for promotion and having the date published some 6 months ahead GW went and announced they would be have a Games Day on the same weekend in February . Screwed us big time but we're still around .
