the Red doesnt quite suit the brass.
however, the brass is done really nicely, with the slight green at the hinges.

I like this. It looks like a Necron that was stored away wet in a bad place. The blue corrosion / discoloration of the brass is excellent. The red is different. It doesn't look "bad" per se, it just looks "different". Offer some backstory to why it's red and maybe it will fit better. Or, it's your model and if you're happy with it then that's all that really matters.

I agree with Matrim, green would go better than red but other than that nice work not sure about the eyes though, if its glowing your looking for I would highlight the edges a bit more

The 'Verdigris' effect is wonderful. Not a big fan of source lighting, and i think it is imfamously hard to pull off with red. I think a light blue would go better personally..

The aged color to the brass is Very well done indeed and looks cool. The red itself doesn't look bad, but I don't think the object source lighting effect you did came out very well. With the "glow" being the same color as the source, the eyes and symbol just look like you couldn't paint inside the lines.

The red is very interesting. I do believe that there is a company that makes red gauss tube things for the necron guns. Pretty sure they have blue ones too

I like it - only comment might be that the base might look better with a different coloured rim, a neutral colour rather than metallic?

First necron i've seen in a while that i liked... brass is good, the verdigris weathering is perfect.
The red however lets it down for me... The normal necron green would look great... as would yellow i think, in an ancient egyptian kinda way as it would play off the blue/green of the verdigris.

I chose red because it compliments brass, rather than the contrast that you would get from green trim (brass is metallic orange/yellow and so is on the same side of the colour wheel as red), plus I like red! mmmmm red!

Yeah, it was just an experiment really after I messed up, instead of fixing my mistake I decided to have a go at something different

Thanks, I knew about them but I don't like the tubes (plus the Monolith crystal would be hard to replace). I much prefer painting them

I have no idea what happened there as the base rim is scorched brown! Must be the camera.

It's really easy!
Basecoat Chaos Black.
Light drybrush Boltgun
Heavier drybrush Dwarf Bronze
Wash liberally with heavily watered down Hawk Turqouise
Although I worked out the brass myself, the Verdigris idea came from someone else at my LGS.

VERY nice patina weathering on the brass ... really gives the model a sense of age.
I like the red eyes and think that a pinpoint of almost white would go a long way to reinforce the eye as the source of light. Then again, it could well be there already and the camera flash obscured it.

I love the tarnishing aspect you lent to this brass- the coorision looks very natural.
Not a fan of the red- I think a blue would have looked better, although for many too monochromatic.

Brass doesn't really rust. The tarnish effect is great. I think the red is making everyone think of rust. The verdigris is well done. Looks like an old lamp my mom has. Good job.
