Subject: Chaos Knights- is a big unit worth it?

I'm a big WoC fan, but I'm very picky about the models from the range that I like.
I want to make an army mostly due to the incredibly nice juggernaught lord.
Looking at options, Chaos Knights seem downgraded these days. What does Dakka think of a unit of 10 lead by an Exhalted Hero on Jugger, all with the mark of Khorne?
It'll inflict massive damage on what it hits, it's got a very good save, and it's quite fast. Plus it would look AWESOME.
My second problem is that I despise Marauders (except marauder horsemen). So is there any way to make the army work using just WoC and Marauder Horsemen as core?
I'll probably get the jugger lord to paint anyhow, but I think it'd be cool to run a hammer-heavy army based around him. (Completely different playstyle to my recently finished Dwarves, too)

Chaos knights are still the most hard hitting and hard to kill knights in the game, but i think 10 is abit expensive i think 5 with the lord on jugger will destroy most units in 1-2 turns, with banner of rage.
Its quite easy to make a good woc list just using warriors as core as there just so dam tough with mot and shields there a real pain to deal with, and you can give blasted standard to make sure they dont take many casualties from shooting.

10 + Jugger is asking for lore of metal treatment. Its a very expensive unit (600+ base without upgrades) whose points could be spent elsewhere.
Knights should be run between 5 - 7, with either MoN or MoK. MoT + Blastad Standard may look good on paper but it doesn't protect you from magic.
As for core. MoT Warriors with HW/S are rather annoying to get rid of, I also have run MoN with Halberds with good success. Many will take MoK and Halbers - so yes it is possible to not take marauders.

I'm running a very, VERY similar list to yours. I hate marauders, love the jugger, and have 5 knights I'm using as his retinue. The blasted standard helps out a bit. I'm only using WoC though, as well as warhounds. But good luck!

Yeah, just take 5 knights and the Mark of Khorne, once played DE against my friend's WoC, in a 1000pt game, his unit plowed through half of my army; about 40 spearmen, some bolt throwers, my dreadlord and maybe some Cold One Knights too, but I can't quite remember. They were what won it basically.

I suggest taking the standard that makes you a strider.
I went up against a block of 6 + Jugger Lord, and it got smoked by terrain. Charging into woods killed a few, pursuit out took out more. My gnoblars trappers holding the flank killed 4 knights of khorne, just by standing in the woods.
As per page 116, all terrain (other than open terrain, like some hills) counts as dangerous for cav. That means if you hit a unit behind a fence, not only are you -1 to hit, but you also have to roll dangerous terrain when you pursue/overrun.
If you're not aware, dangerous terrain is roll a D6 for each model in it (when moving, marching, charging, pursuing, overrunning) and on a 1, you take a wound with no armor save. Marshes you fail on a 1 or 2.

If you charge knights into gnoblars in terrain or behind a wall then your pretty much stupid and are not using them correctly.

One suggestion, if your hating the models for the marauders, or looking for more variety...
Beastmen models? Gors come with ahw or shields, and look pretty marauder esque (seen a suggestion on here for bestigors as warriors w/ 2h wpns too)
