Due to the client pulling out these models are available. They were a lot of work, so I'm looking for sensible offers of around £750, plus shipping. They're pretty light and fit in a fairly small box, international shipping costs are likely to be mostly due to insurance, and shouldn't be too bad (Below £70 I reckon). Offers should be made by email - see my blog (http://blog.winterdyne.co.uk/) for contact details.

Edit: The plinth for Vorenus will be included in the box.

As in it went to Golden Demon, got me a finalists pin and certificate. Featured on the GW homepage with some crappy, crappy photos.

And the price is for all 3 (both dreads and the Sicarius). Equates to 200+ hours work in total.

That sucks that the client pulled out.

Was there any form of contract? It it actionable on that level?

No, I don't do written contracts - although a confirmed email, even a verbal agreement is still technically binding. Not that there's any point in getting het up over it (as they say round here), if the client can't pay for whatever reason, they can't pay. Somewhere, someone will (hopefully) have the cash and a desire for a GD finalist that was on the GW site. That said, I'll take pretty much what I can get - it's all going in the wedding fund.

First, Very nice models, Winterdyne.

Hope you get what you deserve out of them. $750 is a steal IMHO.

As a part-time commission painter myself, this is a nightmare of mine. Good luck!

That's why you don't start a commission like this without an initial investment that is non-refundable by the commissioner. You might not get all your time out of it that way, but at least you don't get totally stiffed for your work.

Beautiful fig winterdyne, best of luck finding a buyer.

Just to make it clear - I would NOT accept $750. It's £750 GBP, for all 3. Not a 'steal' but what I consider a fair price for the work and models (£90 in model cost alone). Non-insulting offers below 750 would be considered only as a last resort.

I may be tempted to part them out for the right offers (About $750 would buy the GD finalist for example, where pretty much half the working time went).

Edit: I do take deposits for the model cost and a bit extra - in this case I waived a portion of the deposit as I was entering one of these in GD. I have retained the deposit made to cover time spent in pushing the work for sale. Sucks that you have to do this sort of thing sometimes, but it's the first issue I've had in over a year of full time commissions.

My apologies. Missed the pound symbol.

Equivalent to 6 bucks an hour... even if Winterdyne is bs'ing by 3X, 18 bucks an hour is still more than reasonable for high quality expert work... it sucks that it sounds crazy to most people... unfortunately is sounds even crazier if you are tempted to buy them!

Best of luck dude, I am very sorry to hear you got effed over.

While this discussion has been informative and polite, I'm going to have to ask that if people want to continue talking about rates / contracts for commission services, that they do so in another section (such as Dakka Discussions).

Further posts not related to pursuing a trade with the OP or finding out more information in this regard will need to be deleted.

I think the discussion so far has basically been clarifying the value of the items for sale (ie how much work I put in them), so no particular worries from me - but I would ask that people now refrain from 'Eh, too expensive' posts. It's clear what I've got to sell and what I expect for it. Thanks all.
