If you are going to kill them; make them think you are one of them. So much easier to hide nukes on their ships and stabbing them in the back that way.

I have been painting (promises promises..) but nothing's done yet so.. tomorrow maybe. I have converted this kick-ass librarian that I am very, Very pleased with (halfway through painting on that one).
But I have finished the final drawing for the Tank Project: Side and main weapon profile. the top-down and side /rear are on the scetch stadium so not much to see yet.

Finished pen+paper drawing.

EDIT: Aaaaand I posted a wip photo instead of the finished one. the finished version is this one.

I have a little hobby-thread going in the P&M section. Some say it's the best blog on Dakka, some don't agree, most belive it would be better if I finished at least one project some time this century and not just kept starting new ones.
Check it out, you just might like it.

And before someone asks: the drawings are to scale, each 'box' on the graph paper grid is 5x5 mm. so the tank is 10.5cm high, 25.5cm long; Minus the gun.
So what do you all think? a concept worth making a model of?

I think It's worth It, I think I'm semi worried about how flat the top is, but I think it would be really good.

I'm not worried at all!

Therefore, if anyone can pull it off... He can!

@Capitansolstice: Don't worry, it's not going to be flat. in fact you'll be able to see parts the cannon and some mechanisms through the top hull that cannon will go all they way back to the engineblock. It's a titan-killer after all, can't make a small gun.

@Alpharius: Thanks for the moraleboost, I'll see what I can do with this. I will make it in parts since it's not based on an existing model, you know like a regular model kit. if it turns out nicely I might try to find someone who can cast the thing so I can make a squadron of three.

@:Commander Cain: I will, once I am done with the scetches since I am also making one set in CAD to use as a blueprint for the different layers and so on. got to do this one right from the beginning.

So, I should have been painting today; I didn't. Instead I went through my boxes of bits and sprues and old models and.. yeah stuff. putting things that belonged together in zip-bags. found my squadron of not-yet-built-still-in-bitz astartes jetbikes, those have been added to the 'Alpha Legion Stuff'-box. btw. Also I did not remember I have that many Land Raiders..

so.. yeah.. this saturday I had an interesting conversation with a friend of mine, it went something like this:

Him: So. how's those astral claws comming along?
Me: good, been a bit distracted by this tank and dreadnought things but it'll be done in time.
him:... Chris.. you do know that we start this campaign on saturday afternoon right?
Me: .... ....... ...
him: yeah, you have painted what is it? five terminators, three marines, a dreadnought and halfway on a predator. that's not 1k points is it?
Me: ... no..
Him: well, how about the other army then?
me: uuuuh.. whut?
him: your space sharks. I thought you said you had them all primed and ready?
Me: Oh!.. YES!
him: well how about you touch those up to tabletop standard so you can play? we won't let you join with your Templars you know that.
Me: sure.. that's just.. 33 infantry, 3 pods and a dread. I can do that!
Him: well do it, no stalling. and what on earth are you doing to your stormraven?
Me: .. I am giving it a nose-job!

Teh WIP Nosejob! Has the Legion infiltrated the inquisition? will 5 marines in purple mk 8 armor armed with plasmaguns, boardingshields and more knives than your grandma ride in this flying container during post-heresy games? Why I belive they will my good sirs!

So, realising I would need the Tyberios model from FWaaand with no chance in hell to get him here before saturday morning so I had time to speed-paint him I had to build a suitable stand-in until the real deal would arrive, this is the net result of that.
I figured I can use him as a sergeant for a terminator assultsquad later on. just a first layer of paint on this fella so quite the way to go yet.

The librarian, at the same stage as the captain paint-wise. I am very pleased with the pose though.

Teh bloody infantry. characters as above, the 6 snipper-scouts, 2 tactical squads (1 with boltguns and 1 with ccw's) an assultsquad with 5 marines and the dreadnought. the 3 pods are in a box somewhere.

Glory to the Twelfth! Glory to Angron!

‎"Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls. The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does. That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

@spudkins: Not so much a tournament per se but a campaign, we are going to play through the Badab War campaign from the IA9 - IA10 books over the comming months with 1 vs 1 games on the weekday afternoons, team games (specific campaign missions from the book) on friday evenings and saturdays. we have 4 apocalypse games sheduled I think. and we're about 15-16 people so it can be fun.

@Cutthroatcure, CalasTyphon216: thanks guys!

@Imperial Monkey, nerdfest09: the head is from the old old metal codicier librarian that I bought during the early days of the 3d edition, the one with a forceaxe.

@Nrljm: Not quite, the Legs are from a current librarian model, staff and hands from the GK strike squad plastics, plastic MkV chest from tactical squad, left arm from an assultmarine, right arm a meltapistol arm from the BA deathcompany (minus the pistol), old old metal libby head and the skulls, teeth-charms, knifes, books, hourglass and other stuff is from the flagellant/spacewolves/terminator chaoslord/dark eldar raider/ palstic kits etc. oh, and the raven is from the plastic empire general mini-box.

You should put the raven on his wrist, like a familaiar. twould look cool

soo.. raven on wrist = Familiar, raven perching on backpack = random bird perching for kicks?

I acctually tried it out with the raven on the wrist (I am very tricky that way) first but it unbalanced the model dynamics and made it look front-heavy. changed the focuspoints of the model in a disadvantagous way. so on the backpack it lives from now on.

Well, I have another obsession to add to the growing list, I should be more focused on work but my notepad is quite full of little ideas on how to design the 'Land Hunter' tank (the one I have been scetching up) into parts that are (somewhat) easy to assemble into a finished tank. It's quite tricky, got to think on how each hullsection breaks down into pieces the easiest way and where they need supports or larger contact areas to ensure a good bond between the surfaces. Also the sequence of assembly becomes important.. it just struck me: Am I overdoing this? Because right now I am building a model kit and not a scratchbuild/conversion piece. that might be a bit unnessecary with a production run of 1 to max 3 models.. might be easier just to box-build it. Dunno.

Also those damn jetbikes have been haunting me since yesterday.. dug up my 'Collected Visions' bible for some reference material (well, they are still regular SM bikes but they will be jetbikes soon) and I have been doodling down some ideas on how to make an easy-to-build 2-part solution for converting the plastic bikes into jetbikes. Stuff like this makes me wish I had the time/know-how/hardware to make resin casts. replicating the design I eventually settle on ten times will be a pain in the butt.

I want a pet Jokaero.
