It's hilarious, isn't it?

Earthquakes must be far more common than we think.

Still... *crosses fingers that the turret will work with the other big bunker GW makes... whatever it's called... that HBMC bought ages ago but still hasn't built...*

Bigger than this. It's not D though. It's S7 AP2. It's literally a Plasma Cannon just with a MUCH bigger blast.

It's probably the plasma blastgun from the Stormblade, so two firing modes:

Rapid fire - 72" 8/2 2x 7" blast

Overcharge - 96" 10/2 10" blast

edit.

Though come to think, these stats are from the fourth Horus Heresy book, so probably this variant is far more powerful than the 40k equivalent.

That said, honestly at this point I'd be fairly surprised if the Sisters don't at least get a handful of kits

I would be more surprised if they did. Sisters get no love from GW, and Eldar popping up out of nowhere kind of seals things.

Maybe a halfhearted something to fill the dead time just before 9E releases.

The thing is, what had probably always held Sisters back in the past was that the release schedule was much slower, and thus projects would have to be prioritized based on projected sales.

As in: "Will Sisters sell models?" Yes. "Will they sell more models than something else?" Well, probably not. In the end, retail isn't about figuring out what will simply sell. It's about figuring out what will sell best with limited resources.

But at this rate, we're seeing new model kits pretty much constantly, and GW hired a ton of new design staff in 2013-2014, which means they were anticipating this rush of releases. It seems fairly certain that part of what dropped GW's profits was investing in all these new products (the release pipeline appears to be just over a year from model completion to product release). This represents a pretty significant shift in what their old philosophy appeared to be. Despite the naysayers, GW has been investing a lot of money back into the business in the last couple years. And that means new models.

I don't think Eldar have popped up "out of nowhere" at all. This is a model line that is still around 2/3rds Finecast and it's one of the oldest factions in the game. If any range needed an update, it's the Eldar, given their combination of "tier" and age. I'd say the Eldar were long overdue for a new model release, not that they are getting an unexpected one.

A year ago, I'd have said the chance of Sisters ever getting models would be about zero, because of the prioritization process. But GW's release schedule has picked up tremendously. They've literally turned around every codex in the game in 2 years and released several new ones. The release rate of new models is significantly higher than it's been in the past too. If they've redone the Stormtroopers and Harlequins, and introduced the AdMech, it looks like the company certainly has an appetite for producing niche armies, which is what Sisters have always been.

It has always been possible for GW to push more new product, but things like AdMech and Knights are new, niche lines that might drive big future sales, whereas Sisters are an old, niche line that failed more than once. That's the problem.

Somewhere in GW, their management is saying that it's the Sisters players fault for not buying more in 3E / 4E, so now GW needs to pursue the other niche things to make up for the obvious financial disaster that Sisters have been, compounded by previous GW statements that they won't cancel any army lines. GW undoubtedly sees Sisters as an albatross about their necks that they have to work around with other stuff.

Sure, the future could be rosier, but my history of Sisters pessimism and negative expectations has rarely been proven wrong. To me, the best thing is that Sisters haven't yet been Squatted.

Easiest solution is to release a Sisters codex and new models, "accidentally" make the book ridiculously overpowered, and then watch as people gobble them up on principle. With multiple detachments, how many Imperial player wouldn't buy at least an HQ and a few Troops if they were point for point better than their own?

But that's not going to happen. Not this side of 2018 anyway. GW has been hit by let's call it people who think they know what's good for you when they really have no interest in it. Before

They see sisters as a bum start and hope Mechanicus, Genestealer Cult, and other mini Armies will palm us off. But even if it won't they will never listen to public demand period.

Well... aren't Mechanicus, Genestealers, Harlequins, etc already public demand? We've seen people wanting these either as options for existing armies or as standalone armies for a while. People converting their Guard to be Genestealer cults or painting up their Craftworld Eldar to be more Harlequin-esque. The popular demand has already been there to create these standalones. It's not like they're making up a brand new army or dredging up factions that no one cares about.

Yes, but all of those niche armies can be built from already existing kits with some judicious kitbashing, converting and painting. You can't really do that with Sisters.

Then it makes even more sense to produce the product.

The Dark Eldar came into existence because every year at Games Day there would be Chaos Eldar armies.

We're not "at the End of summer" yet, but i never really trusted the Sisters rumours..... It only always seemed like a possible codex though (like the last one).

Just a "here, have a codex", and then nothing for another year or 2..... Just so we're in the 7th Ed pile too...

You're right, we're not at the end of summer. We're not even in summer. The first day of summer is not for more than two months.

It's a bit early to be decrying things that won't pan out for another ~5 months.

The thing that gets me with this?

There's very little difference between being Squatted and having your entire army reduced down to a single unit in a combined list somewhere (like what is rumoured to be going on with WFB 9th). And I'm very much afraid that GW wouldn't see it that way. They'd probably see Sisters being reduced to a single unit or 2 in some sort of odd combined list as them upholding their promise and would care very little for the fact that people have existing armies with markings, units and the like. Heck, the Exterminatus campaign supplement had the Sisters presented in a mish-mash fashion with their logic being 'Oh, they've combined their forces'. I'm always on edge when I see that because it suggests that they didn't care about the existing armies and would take the same approach if your army got condensed - oh, just mix them.

Now only a CSM player.

As a Dogs of War player, I think there's a pretty clear difference between being neglected, reduced and actually Squatted. Trimming the Sisters back to 1 or 2 units a la Arbites and Kroot is different from GW saying you don't exist any more.
