Subject: Re:Heretic Tom Returns- Chaos Warband - Night Lords aspiring champion
Thanks Cam! This is certainly one of my favorite Chaos schemes to paint. Here's another..
A Night Lords Possessed Chaos Space Marine
Larger version:
Spoiler:
I have just one CSM left to paint, then the Rhino and I am officially finished with my Chaos Warband. I have considered adding some pieces and at the very least replacing my Hellbrute, which I sadly and stupidly left behind in my recent move, but those potential additions will have to wait because I am really excited to start my Inquisition force once these are complete. In fact, this week I added the Eisenhorn mini and some psykers to my Inquisition collection!

Thanks for the vote of confidence Cam and thanks for the kind words, I thoroughly enjoyed working on that possessed csm. Makes me wish I had enough of those wings to do a whole squad
Since I started painting 3 years ago, I have gone from not ever drilling barrels to drilling every barrel no matter how unlikely it is that anyone will ever see it. Progress!

Here is my finished (and final) Night Lords Chaos Marine. I'm not sure yet what the plan is for the CSM I found in my hobby case, but I may try my hand at yet another random traitor legion. First I think I'll get started on the rhino though, since I've been planning on making that my next project, assuming I don't get sidetracked with those accursed greenskins
(I just realized I forgot to highlight the teeth on that shoulder pad's demonic face )

Personally I prefer the first one, for two reasons. Firstly I would have the more mutated/chaotic members of the army on foot and hacking things to pieces so in turn a more "normal" one would be driving the APC, secondly I think the sculpts from the old upgrade sprue are showing their age.
Great work on the Night Lords Chosen, not the easiest of schemes and you have done it justice.
Thanks! I decided you were right and went with the first one.
Here is a look at the Rhino. Most of it is not glued in place, in order to make it easier to paint. I was going to prime it today but it decided to rain...
Spoiler:
I still haven't decided whether or not to leave the side hatch down or not. Anyone have any thoughts/opinions on the matter?

My first vehicle was certainly a learning experience. I've had a lot of fun painting chaos and, although I will definitely add to it in the future, I am happy to call this first project (finally) finished and move on to the Inquisition army I started collecting more than two years ago. Here's hoping it doesn't take me another three years to finish my follow-up project

All looking great bud, the Chaos is really nice, any chance of a final army shot?
Looking forward to the Inquisition.
Thanks Cam! Yah, I will definitely do a final army shot, that surprise csm and the poxwalkers I bought made me wonder if I should wait though but since I won't be getting to them for a while I think I may go ahead and take a group picture.

1 Word Bearers chaos sorcerer lord
2 Fallen terminator marines and 1 Fallen terminator lord
4 Emperors Children marines (Actually 1 is technically an Exquisite Host marine)

4 Death Guard marines including 2 Possessed
6 more chaos marines including a Red Corsairs marine, a traitor Mantis Warriors marine, an Iron Warriors marine, a Blades of Rage marine, a Violators marine, and a Black Legion marine.
14 cultists
1 Chaos Rhino with Emperors Children driver
Here's a picture of my progress since I started painting, my first mini and my most recent..

I've finished a member of the frateris militia, he looks better from a distance I tried some stuff that didn't really work out the way I wanted (that coat lol), and I've been forced into the realization that my style of painting has been tainted by my choice to paint only chaos for all these years. Time to repent and look for ways to clean things up a bit.
and I've continued working on my Red Hunters squad. Painting multiple minis in the same scheme simultaneously is proving to be a mixed bag, good and bad things about it compared to doing a series of random minis one at a time.
Spoiler:
and another wip pic, this one a little further along..
and another..
C&C welcome, thanks for having a look.

I finished a group of Red Hunters for my Inquisition army..
More images and angles..
Spoiler:
Here's an alternate image with some close-ups..
Those Inquisition "I"'s are officially my first try at freehand painting anything I struggled for a bit trying to decide how to do the chapter symbol for these guys. I considered trying to print my own decals but decided it was too much trouble, I considered ordering some of those 3d printed shoulder pad icons from shapeways, but in the end what I did was simply cut out the individual skulls from the 3 skull Death Guard symbols from my chaos transfer sheet and painted the "I" on them as best I could.
Thanks for having a look!

Here is the finished Servitor, doing the vials of liquid was yet another first for me. When I had them based black and was looking at them I honestly considered painting them to look like Duracell batteries
