How about we wait before we start throwing prices and insults about who can actually afford it around?

Whale isn't an insult, it's a descriptor of buying habits used by video games companies. They coined the term. There's nothing inherently wrong in being a whale, it just means you have the disposable income to spare and no problem spending it. Catering to that part of the audience proved to be the best marketing practice for video game companies, so I'm not surprised if GW is trying to copy it.

While I'm still mixed on the Lumineth stuff I like, there was a lot of stuff in this reveal that I did like. The Terrain is ace. That being said, I'm not a big fan of the trend of releasing half a wave later with another book.

It's the same way they did Tau during the Damocles stuff. You can either buy the new book with new lore in it or just buy the campaign book.

I'm going new book. I'd gotten the big Lumineth 'spearhead' box, so I'm fine with having a normal book rather than going the supplement route.

I love the wizards, but the bears on the death wizard looks like he could be tugged off balance easily by an opponent

I collect:

Grand alliance death (whole alliance)

Stormcast eternals

Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.

My New Year's belated wish? GW's AOS and 40K teams swap roles for the next 5 years. This stuff knocks the pants off any recent 40K release.

Surprised that the big bad at the end of the Cursed City is not that great of a model. The varghul has so much Bram Stoker's Dracula movie vibe though. The heroes are actually not amazing either. I could pass on all but the witch hunter, kurnoth and Ogre. But still, what a great box.

I like the dragon ball Lumineth lord.
GW is going for a particular aesthetic that might not please everyone but I'm happy they are pullig it through.

Also, please GW, give us rules for 40k Belakor

No, please don't. I want AoS to keep knocking it out of the park. Please take your wish back before it comes true

I really don't like these stacked double models. The Slaaneshi Prince looks terrible with the daemonette on top, and these elves are no different. I think I may have to see at separating them and possibly mounting the mage of the side of the base with foot on a flying stand, or maybe some of these bonsai trees they have everywhere.

Another lot of mostly good stuff - I have soooo many models lying about doing nothing :(

So going down the list:

Bladelords: they (like the Beastgrave warband) just look wierd to me both in terms of poses and proprotions - might be the angles but at the moment much prefer previous Swordmasters.
Starshard Ballista: Nice details like th arrows and little lamps - very nice .
Shrine Very cool - but likely wince at the price - need to see more angles
Heroes: Cool cavalry, Cool Standard, Fox-goat spirit is great, really wish they had gone for a Monkey spirit for the cloud guy - the lamp guy is all sorts of wierd, Twins are fun - like the guy much more and his sword pose is much better than the bladelords.

[u]Cruciator:
Cool new Nighthaunt - would be quite a cool necron conversion as well.
Gardus: I enjoyed the novel (although the Stormcast get way OP towards the middle and end) and the model is pretty good
Wight King Fine looking model
Madmob Hmmm ok - Like the Shaman the best.

Arena Hopefully available in the UK!

Cursed City - Well damn there is some nice stuff
Heroes - like them all! Van Elten and Qualthis prob favs but the write ups are great on the website - cool quotes!
Minons - Bats and Rats are pure win (I am sure some Skaven usage Yes-YES), Halberd guys also great. Skeletons are nicely done - Deadwalkers - hmmm - one with that theme might be cool but not lots...well not for me - bit too Malifaux.
Radukar the Wolf- mighty fine and great to see a non human vampire on the tabletop!
Vargulf? - that looks ace.
Vampireblooded? Interesting - sorta Ghoul-Vamps - nicely done and looking forward to reading more about them!

Ohh and book of warscrolls as well nice

Great preview

We'll find out shortly enough, but if we'll indulge some speculation, if they are undead cats like the one on Torgillius's base, then they could be spies that serve as mobile objectives, which would be a fun gimmick

All looks fantastic. Absolutely loving Cursed City, but the other undead stuff is great too. Prefer this wave of the lumineth, although I do kind of think a second battletome after only, what, 4 months? is a bit of a dick move.

June was the release of the army pack. And that was significantly delayed from when it was likely to have been intended thanks to lockdowns.
September is when the first wave of the general release happened.

40k 9E was in between both.

Putting a different title on the cover doesn't change the fact you need to buy a new book to play the army.

I'm crossing my fingers that there will be other stuff with him.
I don't hold out much hope for other Undivided stuff, but another round of real expansion to daemons so the mono-god lists are more viable would be nice. [Stuff like skullcannons/thrones, Nurgle flies, etc that actually expanded the lineup and filled holes in the lists beyond 'axe wielding maniacs' and 'slow shufflers']

But we'll see. I just don't want to see a repeat of what happened with the Morathi book- a single new character stuffed in a Versus box, then just dice and endless spells.

Agreed. Whether you're buying the Broken Realms book or the Battletome v2, its still pay twice to get the army rules. The only folks who get off easy are the ones that didn't bother with the cosplay elves until now and only get the new battletome.

Is it just me or are the poses on the "not swordmasters" really really poor?

Weird unbalanced stiff legged poses. These are like the opposite of the idoneth thralls or Tzeentch Arcanites who had great poses.

Then don't buy the book and just use the downloadable warscrolls.

You won't have the updated/new warscroll battalions and stuff coming with Teclis but hey, don't want it don't buy it?

Honestly this was what happens because of the large 3d party market and because GW lost the Chapterhouse court case (and likely were never going to win it).

Simply put if GW put all those models into the Lumineth book last year chances are by now we'd have had the 3rd party market supplying all of them.

GW doesn't want that, they want at least first dibs on their own customers. So instead of a book last year with twice as much content, we get a book with half as much and a rapid expansion this year. It's not the best ,but I can see the logical train of thought from GW in approaching things that way to protect their own income and sale of their own models.

Of course the other option would have been to hold Lumineth back for a whole year and do it all in one go, by which point GW would be oversaturating the market for them with almost too many models. Too many can be just as bad, it means a huge investment in one massive go from GW and customers can only buy so much so it would leave GW with likely some stock sitting on shelves unsold just because of the volume.

In the end the campaign book is likely going to be very good like the Morathi so chances are you were going to get it anyway just for the lore, stories and other updates. Now you know for certain it comes with a massive update (and honestly I think every lumineth player knew this was going to happen when the big teases happened in Christmas). This is nothing new.

I should have waited... I got *2* this time last year (due to a mispack, the second was free). Looks like this new plastic one is going to be twice the size, at least, so maybe if I combine the two I have...

Still waiting mine. Wondering should i cancel or get it for alternative daemon prince if i want to run 2.

The Nighthaunt hero looks ace, let's hope the Stuff in the book helps fix the faction up. I'd love to put mine on the table again.

I like the Wightking, but I was expecting a bit more of a soulblight reveal.

Cursed City looks fantastic.

At least you don't need to buy new battletome unless you want all under one cover

It's bunch of new warscrolls added.

He's actually a fair bit smaller than the current plastic prince, to the point that, in my opinion, he's only good for running as himself. I would advise canceling, but that's just me and my specific aesthetics.

This didn't happed "because of 3rd party", this happened cause GW is greedy little piggy. No one forced GW to do it, GW chose to do it. As a customer, this is nothing but inconvenience and extra expense. I was, in effect, sold a beta version of the battletome, except at a full price. At this point, i'd rather hand-write the warscrolls and battalions into a notebook than pay GW for their trash, half-baked product. Who knows, maybe there will be volume 3 of the battletome next year, I can't risk it!

I'm really hoping he's compatible with some existing kits (or is a double kit with a generic daemon prince, so they can get rid of the current naff one).
But if he's bloodthirster size, I could see converting him up with bits.

He does seem pretty big, he's got a full chaos warrior slumped on a rock pile between his feet.

When you are big you are expected to be strong and tough. It's creepy scary if small one throws you around like rag doll. That reveals instantly your strength is unnatural

1m guy lifting you up like darth vader at the start of anh(which in itself is inhuman strength. Unsurprising since that was robot strength. Showed instantly that's not human) shows instantly something very weird is attacking you.
