as for the base choice... yeah... the last one looks off... the other way around definitely look not right... and maybe you could add even some weight to the base as well?
after al some sand inside the hollow models couldn´t hurt?

and if the puple is more dominant than the turquoise then the tau scheme could work...
and no... no glowy rod insde the pylon... would make it look as if the pyramide would "shoot" at the flyer...

Thanks Vik, although it wasn't the win, just the style prize The purple/turquoise you can see a little test of on the painted fire warrior.

Dr H wrote:Good work on the bases. Good ideas too.

Purple and Turquoise work well and yellow is quite a good spot colour to go with that.

And good point Vik about the glow of the necron thing.

Yellow works as a spot colour for me, and I'm off the glow stick. I might add some glow between the tiled plates of the cron terrain. I'll reach a conclusion about which gets which base at the end! What about cron colours?

hmm... the cron colors... i like those white ceramic looking crons... lots of options... but the pyramide should then be of darker material...

and i still remember the tau... but i am currently looking through your gallery and not finding him... but boy did i find some awesome minis there ....wow...

Well I might try some neutral ceramic colours on the pyramid then. The fire warrior is at the base of the pyramid in the first of the 3 most recent pics, although he needs some spots I might make the flyer yellowy then. Thanks for the comments guys!

Oh yes, I knew there was something else to comment on. Let me see...
Not done any Necrons myself yet so not thought about colours for them, but... one scheme I definitely plan on using is like I used on the Androids from Space Crusade; a sort of cream/bone colour with metal details...

So, first up, a couple of pics of the RoB that me 'n' the boy have been working on:

Just to give you a sense of it. I think he/we've done a pretty good job at a practical, grimy ash waste surface.#

Storm Talon atop the ceramicised (sounds sore) tower:

As demanded, a better pic of the Tau scheme:

I wonder whether to invert this for the flyer (yellow, purple spot detail) or keep as is?

Storm Talon atop the pylon:

And with glow! (sorry for ropey pic)

Happy with how the cron turned out, on to the Tau!

Looking very nice Graven.

As for flipping the colour scheme, that could make the crashed flyer quite bright and may detract from the actual model that that is supposed to just be the base for... But it might be a nice scheme...

@DrH fair point about distraction. Thanks, also!

I think purple then, I imagine the drones yellow - might move the crashed one onto that base and use it for the eagle.

Wife really like the purple. It has led to pretty marines conversation. A dangerous part of Me has started thinking pre-heresy...

i bet it has to do with your wallet part of your brain

and i will keep my gob shut for the tau scheme as i am out of my comfy zone here... i am not really firm with tau and always get an akward feeling about them... i know far too less ...

but i like the necron scheme... bone colored always gets me sitting upright!

Very nice. As always I admire your care and paintstaking attention to detail when it comes to building your miniatures. I don't think I've ever seen one that wasn't converted or kit-bashed in some way, even if only in terms of base decoration.

Well, tis true but I do have a looooooooooooooot of unpainted marines. About 3000pts built for one thing. They could go Death Guard or Emperor's children, if I were so minded. You're allowed not to like the Tau btw but glad you like the crons! was going to go with purple glow but green works better as a contrast against the Tau.

In all seriousness, the Russ treads are half as wide and about 75% as tall as a Mk.1 Raider. It is also, entoto, about 75% as wide.

It's the trade-off with the wife doing cakes for wedding flowers. I am actually sick of the whole cake thing tbh, as I am not seeing my friends at all and, to add to it, I completely buggered up a chocolate sponge today which I can do in my sleep.
Spoiler:

In no way am I also dreading seeing my parents tomorrow

As an aside, I am massively unimpressed with Army Painter's brushes. I have destroyed 3 of them in a matter of weeks. Now I know I'm hard on brushes, but I still have citadel masters brushes from, like, 6 years ago. Today, life rolled a .

Anyway:

More rubble to add, and the 2 guys with detonators to position. Then darkshade all the cloth and I think it'll be done. Cautiously, the crash-site base is strong enough to hold the Eagle, too.

Be kind or I might

No, I agree. I have trained myself to be a lot less brutal on brushes, and the Army Painter ones just *DIE*. I'm even using B&J brush cleasner and preserver, and avoiding getting paint in the ferrule. Nope! Damn things just fray apart.

Guess I'm going to have to shell out for some Windsor and Newtons.

Those bases look brilliant dude! really looks like the eagle is hovering above the plinth! and the colour for the Necron parts is perfect I might be saying that as it was what i was going to do myself with my own Necrons lol! I think the bone scheme works so well with them even if they are gonna be smashed on a base!
