Yes I'm one lucky , I've managed to aquire (And I didn't even have to set the squigg hounds on anyone! ) an old Armorcast Reaver Titan. (circa 1988 for those interested)

I got him with a Laser Blaster, a Chainfist and an Apoc Missile Launcher.

I've also managed to source a very well made Plasma Blastgun replacement from flea-bay.

I'm looking to do the following modifications;

Firstly I want to add a little height, as it is, it stands about 11 inches to top of carapace, bit taller than the FW Warhound but a good 4-5 inches shy of the FW Reaver. I plan to add about 2 to 3 inches to the legs and waist to get him standing about 14 inches.

I'm also looking to get some more weapon options, mainly a Melta Cannon and a Power Fist.

The model as a whole lacks detail, not that I'm complaining cause heh, it's a Titan. But I am going to add extra plating, piping and nuts'n'bolty things. Also I will be doing away with the dodgy Fantasy Chaos'ey looking axes that are moulded all over it!

So basically I would greatly appreciate any help, advice or directions for modelling one of these monsters or if anyone knows where I can get replacement weapons or some cool looking accessories that would benefit the cause, a friendly heads up would be great!

Thanks in advance and I hope to get some WIP pics up pretty soon.

Cheers

You could just get the extra weapons from forge world, although the difference in detail might be a little jarring.

Yeah, this was my first thought. If I can do a descent job on adding detail to the rest of the body then FW will more than likely be the best place for more weapon options. In particular for the Power Fist as I think this will definitely be one of the hardest parts to model/source elsewhere.

You might be able to track down one of the original armorcast fists...although the forgeworld one does look a lot better. Best of luck with your project, anyway!

Someone frequently sells homemade reaver weapons on ebay, worth a look at least.

Without wanting to be difficult, it seems unlikely it was from circa 1988, as Adeptus Titanicus was only released in 1988, and Reaver Titans were a metal model released a short time later to go with it. It seems unlikely the Armorcast versions were available so quickly.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Weird! Well I'm certainly no historian when it comes to, well, anything really! I've got a bad memory as it is and most of the '90s and '00s is pretty much a drunken blur! I only got the date from the seal/stamp on the inside of the head! I'll upload a pic when I find my usb lead.

So this is him in his current state, playable but needs a lot of work!

They sold that reaver titan for years, right up until GW decided to open Forge World. Before Forgeworld both Armorcast and Epicast were producing licensed models.

Off the top of my head:
Armocast
Reaver Titan
Warhound Titan
Eldar Phantom Titan
Tyranid Exocrine (Ranged Support)
Tyranid Malefactor (Transport)
Tyranid something (Melee Support)
Ork Battlewagon

Epicast
Ork Stompa
Ork Drop Pod
Ork Spleen Rippa
Tyranid Drop Pod
Eldar Knight Titan

I've actually owned all of those at one time or another over the years, but I sold them of during 40K 3E when there was no rules support for them.

Think I still have a Tryanid Exocrine and Drop Pod still kicking around...

There were actually 4 companies that produced them before Forgeworld(in order):

Mike Biasi Studios(which designed pretty much all of them)
Epicast
Forgeworld USA
Armorcast

A little bit of history, plus everything each company produced:

^ nice link!

Anyway, quick update....

Had a good look through the links you guys gave me and popped on to flea bay to see what was about, after many, many, many hours of page hopping I decided to knuckle down and have a go at building one myself.

So here's a few pics of my attempt a Gatling Blaster.

C&C very welcome! (But please be gentle it's only my 2nd ever scratch build!)

Very WIP!
(Please excuse my messy work station!)

And finally, side shot of progress so far!

Still got load to do, haven't touched the rear or top yet, going to add more smaller rivets to side and underneath and still need to work on a way to connect to the reaver.

But hope you like so far!

very nice but with such a model (size wise) I would have been tempted to go to the extra effort of adding a motor and having the barrels rotate you could also rotate the shells like I am atempting on my stompa if I ever pick it up again.

Don't think I have a drill bit long enough!

Hmm a motor? Very cunning although may be a bit too late now!

The barrels do rotate by hand though! Do I get kudos for that?

that's an awesome gatling blaster.

well I can't give you a whole man point for manualy rotating barrels but I can maybe award +0.5 man points

btw you can only lose man points by bings a wuss/big girls blouse/wimp/crying. You can only earn man points by being manly/cool/awesome/showing physical or mental supremicy over your fellow men

Drill, use long nails as pins. Sink some JB weld into the hole along with the nail. The join will be more solid than the rest of the model. lol seriously though, somethign that size....use JB weld.

Just logged on for a quick update so didn't see this before but I think I've gone a similar route...

Update;

Top detail

Shoulder Joint

I've got a bolt to pass through the red pieces, which I will add smaller rivets to to keep in scale. (I didn't purposely paint the parts red thats just how I found them! )

I'm hoping I've done enough detail but I will wait till I've sprayed and started to paint first, I can always add more later. . . still need to do the back though, I'm thinking a vent/exhaust type thing as I would imagine this thing would get quite hot!

OK, nearly there with this weapon. . .

This is the rear,

The Hinge,

And the lastest full shot,

So before I add a final pipe here and there and before the spray paint comes out, my question to you all, do you like the hinge? does it feel Titan'y enough? I liked it last night but now I thinking I might try a ball joint more like the FW ones.

Advice and suggestions please!
