Honestly, I don't know if this should go here or not, but I'm taking a chance. Considering that it's most definitely "scratch built" and painted (well, glazed in this case) I don't think it'll be a problem. Last year for Christmas I made pieces of terrain or independent character models to hand out. But this year I thought I'd do something kind of different for all of my gaming buddies. I'm a potter by trade, and we all like to have the occasional beer or 12, so I thought mugs would be neat. I'm keeping them pretty simple, a black mug with a wax seal and parchment on the side. There will be no Imperial Eagles, chapter symbols, or Chaos iconography on any of these (I'm not interested in copyright infringement).

I just thought I'd share and see what you guys think. Criticism and questions are welcome as always.

Haha. Well they are somewhat labor/time intensive, so if I were to sell them, they wouldn't Wal*Mart cheap. I've got 4 complete right now, and 8 more in the process. I only really need 6 or 7, but made extras because things sometimes break or crack during the firing process. I've got an Ebay account and if everything works out with the mugs I'm firing now, I'll sell the extras. If people are legitimately interested in buying them, I'd make more.

16 fluid ounces or 1 pint. They're hand made, so no two are exactly the same size or shape, but yea, at least 1 pint. The mug in the photo is closer to 20 or 22 ounces.

Well like I said, they wouldn't be cheap. From start to finish, they take about an hour to make and cost me roughly $6 of materials plus the cost of firing the kiln, which isn't cheap. I would probably have to charge $20 to $30 plus the cost of shipping to make it worth the time and effort.

Can't tell if the writing on the purity seal is supposed to be writing or just the way the glaze looks, but blank seals would be neat as people could write their own litanies (or funny sayings, whatever) in sharpie.

You know... that mug in kind of a dark angles green would be spectacular. I'm not a dark angel's player mind you... I just think the dark green behind the purity seal would be really, really sharp.

Hahaha. Pressurizing cm thick stoneware ceramic could be problematic. When it explodes and shrapnel goes flying, you could just tell all of the wounded and injured that the titan was carrying a Life Eater bomb.

@ Alexgm101: If I start doing this, I'd want to make some money, sure, but I'm not looking to rob anybody. Don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to have to spend more money on a beer mug than I did on a box of Space Marine troops.

You know, I honestly thought that a few people would get a kick out of the idea, and that I MAY get a pm or two over the weeks from a couple of guys asking if it would be possible to may them one, but this is crazy! I think I'm going to turn some out and see about putting a few up on Ebay after Thanksgiving. When I do, I'll be sure to post a link!

I can see there being interest in options for various chapter colors. Even just a few generic options for Smurf/Fist/etc. blue, DA/Sala/etc. green, BA/AdMech/etc. red, BT/generic black... If you're a potter by trade, chances are you already have the glazes you'd need on hand, so if there aren't particularly finicky colors, it shouldn't be any extra trouble, should you decide to produce a (relatively) sizable run of these (which would totally sell, I'd wager).
