I'm planning on painting my cygnar purple and I was wondering what colour would go well with it.

I'm not 100% sure weather I'll paint it a vibrant purple or a royal colour. If anyone has advice on this I'd much appreciate it .

Thank you for the quick replies I'd say a cream colour would go better with a deep royal purple and the gold sounds like a good idea too.

I prefer royal purple over lighter colors as well.

I agree with popsicles idea. Some metallic silver compliments this colour scheme as well for metals.

If I went with a Deep Purple would the green be better light or dark?

The cream will look good for the fatigues and the gold is something I've always liked painting.

On an add note there are some electric coils in the army and would a super bright orange work for this rather than the usual ice blue for electricity?

Deep greens and purples go well in my opinion. Blazing Orange is super bright and with some yellow it could fit the coil paint. Cream will definately give a nice khaki feel and I like gold too lol.

So it would appear to be that Deep purple and deep green go well together aswell as a cream colour. Silver or gold is good too.

Yellow is opposite Purple on the colour wheel, so yellow, gold or cream should look great.

gold, green, yellow are all complementary colors. Also analogous colors look good in some cases like red for example

I had thought of yellow but I've been painting so much of it lately that I kinda want to paint something else.

I do like the sound of the green though and the red intrigues me. Could anyone suggest to me what colour paints to use GW or P3 as they are the ones I have the easiest access to?

Gold and silver both look great for trim on purple armor.

Dark Angel Green is a nice deep green from GW and they have a couple of reds that seem to be popular.

Yellow, gold, white or black.
Do not use green. It may seem interesting but in the end it will just look strange. Green, orange and purple just don't get along.

I'll play around with the colours but on second thought the green is beginning to look out of place I have seen yellow working with it to and extent? The orange was to go with the electric coils on the model.

actually this one

So how would the purple scheme apply to him. What colour would compliment him if he were purple?

Green and purple kind of look like crap together, even more so on Marine armor.....they don't have enough contrast unless you take things to the extreme, in which case you have a scheme suited nicely to either a cartoon or a really gnarly Slaaneshi chapter.

So it would be that simple huh. At any rate should I change the coils on the staff to a different colour? Are there any paints from Formula P3 or GW that would make a suitable deep purple effect.

I spent 2 months practicing my purple....mostly while smoking large amounts of purple. Check out this plan....

Prime Chaos Black
Adeptus Battlegrey foundation everywhere you want to be purple
Reaper Amethyst purple over grey
Wash with Leviathan Purple/Asureman Blue or Badab Black 1:1 mix.
Drybrush Liche Purple
Wash with Leviathan Purple/Asureman Blue or Badab Black 1:1 mix.
Drybrush 1:1 mix Liche Purple/Warlock Purple
Wash with Leviathan Purple
Wash with Leviathan Purple
Drybrush 1:1 mis Liche Purple/Warlock Purple
Wash with Leviathan Purple
Drybrush 1:2 mix Liche Purple/Warlock Purple
Wash with Leviathan Purple
Drybrush with Warlock Purple
Wash with Leviathan Purple

You probably won't need to highlight much if at all and the depth of color will be astounding.

By any chance is that the same paint scheme on your nid-naught in your gallery?

The purple on this guy was done with that paint scheme....yes. Its a royal PITA to put 15 stages on a squad of MEQ's so I practice for depth of color on larger models.

The same technique was used to build the blue and the red. I was only about 1/2 done with the paint when I ended up stripping and reconverting the model for my current army build.
