gonna get myself a warhound titan, but not really sure how to paint it.
i will probably paint it with my usual greys for space wolves, but that seems to be wrong somehow.
would like to hear from people that have titans in a space marine army or a sw army.

You paint them to match the forgeworld they belong to. Space Marines don't field titans they are just part of the army that is deployed with them.

although, you *COULD* paint it in SW colors, and in your homegrown fluff basically say that this particular titan has supported the wolves of fenris so much, that they gave more honor to the wolves by painting their god-machine in the legion colors.. the only problem i can forsee with this, is that the pre-heresy colors of the wolves is abit boring for titans, and i personally am not a big fan of the post heresy "baby" or Space Wolf (blue) Grey color that they have now (unless of course, your great company uses another shade of grey?)

Agreed.
Fluff-wise, the Adeptus Astartes 'own' (they are) the Space Marines whereas the Adeptus Mechanicus 'own' the Titan Legions.
However, just like the Space Wolves utilize Leman Russes for historical reasons, your Marine chapter fluff can have reasons for this.

You could say its part of a mechanicus force on extremely long term deployment to Fenris, or in support of the SW. I would then recommend painting it in mechanicus colors, but with some SW touches. maybe one of the shoulders or lower leg armor sections painted to match the SW shoulder pads...perhaps with the SW wolf head design on it.

thanks for all your answers.
my last idea was that the titan was sent to support the wolves.
pretty much like house belisarius supports the wolves with navigators

Well, I'd say paint it as you like, it's your model after all. If an overall grey scheme seems a bit too bland for you, you can always pick an original or existing Titan legian colour scheme and just introduce some SW elements. You could perhaps create a cool SW insignia on one of the titan's large shin plates? Either full blown SW grey with a large wolf's head on it, or create an honour 'shield' with mixed Mechanicus/Space Wolf heraldry, symbolicly depicting the union between the titan legion and the Space Wolf chapter. Perhaps in one quadrant of the shield, a SW wolf head, in another the Ad Mech cyber skull & cog, in another the symbol of the titan legion, and some 'special' symbol in the last? Go nuts man. ^^

Just like the Valkyries get painted up to match the IG forces they are deployed with, no reason a Titan couldn't have similar paint.
I would paint it in the same scheme, but leave off the space wolf unit markings to show that it is still an adeptus mechanicus unit. Unless the fluff of your force is that they "aquired" it outright.

Another option is to paint it in its own Titan order scheme, but then do one of the greaves (the leg armor) in your SW army pattern, to denote that it has been seconded to them long term.
Epic used to use army badges and such to unify disparate imperial forces as well, which were just simple insignia they would all sport (skulls, lightning bolts, simple stuff) so you could also do something like that, but then all your vehicles would probably need them

heres a quick photoshop of what seems to be not too bad.
i made a combination of the mechanicus logo and a sw head.
i also want some yellow to break up the grey.
i will also add battledamage because there are way too many flat areas.
metal parts will be simple boltgun metal with badab black and battle damage
