I guess I'm I'm in the small minority that likes the bases. I wouldn't argue against pegs though.

Check out my Deadzone/40k/necromunda blog here!

Yeah the pegs work well in the Dreamforge stuff. If you don't want them it's a very quick snip and you're good to go.

So far I've been willing to put in the extra effort to remove them because I like Mantic's games / models so much, but I'm for ditching the integral bases as well. Pegs sound great.

@Eric - Ah, you were the one! Thanks, it's a good tip.

I've had luck using sprue clipper to clip the majority off of the base; after that it's simple to chop the remaining bits off the bottom of the feet with an Xacto (especially the new Z series with the coated blades). Didn't think to soften 'em up with hot water though, thanks for the tips dudes!

I like the bases.

Makes them feel more like toys.

If they feel like toys than I am perfectly validated to make plenty of pew pew pew noises playing with them with my kids.

I understand the rest of your plight, as they do seem a bit of a pain if you were to snip and clip.

For a newbie/ lazy board gamer they are pretty convenient though.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Has anyone spotted the res or stat cards for the Mercs? I did not see them in my box I just flipped through the book and did not see stats in there either.

Mercs don't have any cards yet, PDF for the cards is supposed to be in the works for the interim. I assume the merc cards will come in the second wave.

Supposedly, the Mercs are going to be *very* close to their beta stats so this link
http://quirkworthy.com/2013/08/12/deadzone-mercenaries/
should help hold you over till they get the cards deployed in PDF and otherwise.

I'd be fine with seeing the integrals go. Too restrictive (really dislike the platform boots stuff, why not just have one foot on the disc and one foot off?), a peg like the dreamforge minis would be great. Or no peg at all, it depends if the mini needs it or not. In hard plastic even really tiny contact points (tips of Zz'or talons) can work just fine because the glue bonds so well and doesn't break.

I think the original idea was that you could put it together without glue and all that 2-piece minis stuff. Not really the case with deadzone or warpath. You need glue, you need files, you need hot water.

There are a few things I'd like from Mantic bases in general:

- Hollow (so we can glue a magnet underneath easy).
- Clear plastic option (maybe get Renedra to run their round base sprues in clear polystyrene?).

It's definitely a weakness in the minis, dreadball bases were a very cool idea, but the integrals do kinda spoil them to the point where a lot of people just paint the whole thing black which is a shame.

KoW bases are fine with the integrals although a hollow would have been nice.

I did seem someone carve off the integrals on their DB team, flip the hex bases upside down and glue them to the underside. That looked pretty neat.

I would also vote for integral bases to be scrapped for warpath but kept for KOW.

Some of the models (Mostly the bigger ones) don't have integrals themselves, that will always be a better option than the platform shoes. I doubt there are many people who are not going to cut them off so in this case the integrals are making it much harder to put together the model to a decent standard rather than much easier.

James can I ask why some of the models have disco era platform shoes.

The 70s are making a comeback! Haven't you heard? Afros are back in, Saturday Night Fever's getting a remake, the Bee Gees are cool again.

Okay, most of that might be a lie.

It's so they fit into the bases - it's not ideal, though, and we're going to stop it happening. Personally, I'd just get a modelling knife, trim them down and texture the base so it's not an issue any more

Warpath Tagline?
In the Grim Darkness of the future, there is only Disco.

Yeah they are gonna get sliced off.

Just got my shipping notification, its going to the wrong address....I'm sure it can get fixed before UPS receives it though.

If it's at the shipping notification stage, we can try to catch it but it might have already gone. However, if so, UPS will try to deliver to the old address, then if you're not there they'll email you and ask for an address update, then re-deliver. In any case, drop me a line at james.hewitt@manticgames.com and I'll see what I can do

Thanks mate, I have chucked you an email. No big deal if it gets here late, as long as it gets here.

Genius! A kettle has already become part of my assembly toolbox.

Hang on, there's an argument against making pew pew noises with miniatures??

Yeah, what GrimDork said - pdf is imminent, followed by a second wave card deck.

Bases - TBH I quite like the integrated bases, but not sufficiently so that changing them would be upsetting. I don't know what others experience of restic is but I'm not even convinced restic models need anything to connect the to the base beyond the glue, same for hard plastic (GW dropped tabs on hard plastic ages ago, I've not had a problem). Metal models however I prefer the larger contact point and stability I feel I get from an integrated base.

Deadzone base sizes - just got a reply from Stewart through Kickstarter and he said both Rebs and Plague weapon teams official basing is 25mm individually. I might base them as a single 40mm model anyway, I'll just have to pay for the bases (or not if I rummage deeply in my bits box).

Would they work on those bike bases GW do?

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

That might be a good shout for the Plague Mortar to put the crew either side of it, I'll play with that I think for the Rebs I'm feeling 40mm more as a gut reaction.

AAAAAwwwwwwwww damn, I see my box of fun has been picked up in Birmingham. ETA is supposedly Monday!

Plus it looks like all my Black Friday garbage comes in between today and Monday! I'm going to be a very busy boy!

(and as an aside,I thought we weren't allowed to make pew pew noises if there are girls nearby. What with the cooties and all.)

Sounds like an assassin's blade

Well do you want bare restic? I can do that, but virtually snowed in with the baby today so the only chance I'll get to paint is during her limited nap periods. I need to get a high table and a barstool set up so I can hobby out of reach of tiny grasping fingers...

I had a though on the integrabases, and bending/fixing restic stuff in general.... Coffee mugwarmer. Little mini hot-plate, just big enough to heat up a small cup or jar of water.

Haven't tried it yet, not sure if it would make the water hot enough or not. Will see about giving it a try though

Sweet, I checked about an hour ago and still initiated. After seeing your post I checked again so I could post a "Sad Panda" comment, but mine is picked up for delivery on Monday as well.

Received my MM black Friday stuff today, Monday - Deadzone, Tuesday - Ogre and Fantasy Flights Black Friday stuff. I anticipate annoyed comments from my wife.

Isn't that why we call this "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year?"

I was checking all the various shipping sights, and between today through Tuesday I'm looking at around 12 packages of various shapes and sizes. Admittedly some of those are gifts... some are even for other people besides myself!

I will probably have a bit of explaining to do. Hopefully my wife won't come equipped with a Grimdirk!

Yeah poor kid *is* pretty likely to turn down the path of nerd-dom, but I'm not gonna push in any direction.

I'm thinking something along the lines of what I heard scarletsquig say on the mantic forums, don't want mine to look like the goodguys cause they really aren't So some kind of dark/menacing color for the plates and then mostly black for the recessed bits of armor.
